Thread: Player City Salons and Lipstick?

Hello all.

I know Player City Salons is real close, if not the Holy Grail, of the Image Design wish list. I was wondering if there had been any news (beyond none) of the chances they might be implemented?

My thought on the subject (just in case a Dev is reading this... unlikely) is to make them like Cantinas, in that only an Image Designer can place them -- preferably only a Master Image Designer, since we get so few perks for working to master to profession in the first place. Alternatively, I would also like to see the ability for Master Image Designers to be able to place ID Terminals. This would let me turn my basement into a full scale Salon! ^_^

As I am currently trying to decide if I want to move off Dantooine or not, having any info on if Player City Salons will be possible would be great! It would certainly make up my mind not to leave, so I could work to get a good Dantooine buisness going.

My second question/insight concerns craftable cosmetics. Has this ever been considered?

Why not allow an Image Designer the ability to craft lipstick, eyeshadow and hair color kits (maybe even colored contacts) for a specific color (no 256 color lipstick here)? This would allow people looking for simple changes to visit the Bazaar, or reach into their inventory for a quick fashion fix!

I love being an ID when I am busy helping people... but I hate having my skill points in it the other 80% of the time.

Ehhh no.

If I wanted to craft, I'd have been an Artisan.

Then don't craft them.

The Image Designer skills are already spread thin enough. It would be nice to have something else in there to actually make the profession a little more fullfilling then just getting 5 "u id me" tells the second I log in.

That point aside... I care more about PC Salon info. Anyone...?

As far as crafting goes, yes it's come up. The general consensus of the ID's is that we like interacting with people, we don't like crafting.

Nothing's been said about player city salons lately that I've caught. You might want to check the discussion about the upcoming correspondent conference in Austin.

No ETA on player city salons, only that we will get them one day.

Crafting makeup has been popular in the past and has received a lot of votes when I've polled the community. Pretty much anything beyond eyeshadow and lipstick however (such as color contacts or wigs) has led to division in popularity b/c those requests are a frequent source of business. As for those who don't want to craft I always say, don't craft Not enjoying something is not a reason to block those of your profession who do from doing it. All that said, the devs have told us in the past that they do not want us to be another crafting class. I however don't see crafting makeup as making us a crafting class, but rather akin to Musicians who can craft instruments if they choose and have that extra way to make money and advertise themselves on the bazaar

let us Craft! make some new crazy black or red for skin colour take special components! and don't limit the hopefull person whom wants it! Like humans and no red eyes.

No to player tents. Right now we have a focal point of contact for ID work. Think of a novice tryign to find work if the player flee back to thier player cities from the established capitals.

If player ID tents were a go.. make is only dropable in a th very large player cities.

I think the point about this crafting is, that if we'd get the ability to actually 'craft' something like the artisans do, then there would be the need to reaarange our skilltrees to somewhere include the crafting skills and most likely a path which requires crafting xp... and that would include the need to 'grind' through this tree again which is what many ID's (including me) don't want to do.

And since I don't think the devs don't want to rearrange our skills that way either it would mean we would be simply given the ability to craft something with nothing to experiment on (no skills for that)... for something we can, will and want to do without any crafting, too.

So here my conclusion: no lipsitcks and the like, if someone wants to do something like that he needs to visit one of us or become one of us.

Actually, the way I see it, if they gave us something like lipsticks (or whatever) to craft, it would work like a Musician crafting an instrument. When a Musician crafts an instrument, they get music xp, not crafting xp. There would be no need to rearange the skill trees at all. It would just give us another way to get ID xp. Plus, if they gave it to us at Novice Entertainer, it would provide wookiees and mon calamari a way to gain xp before they made it to Image Design 2 (and eye color). Any such item would have to be something minor, so as to only provide us with a little extra source of xp and not take the place of real ID work. I would also say that something like crafted lipsticks should only make a temporary change when used, as opposed to having an ID actually make such a change.

the temporary colour change woudl work like the vehicle and droid customization kits that expire after soo many opens... So soo many log ins... it'll expire.

For the comparisson between us and Musicians (and technically the Musician line in Entertainer), I have to disagree, as it's a crafting line that is only useful to the Musicians (and the Musician line in Entertainer). A bit different situation than the purposed item (unless you are suggesting requiring ID crafted makeup to use ID skills).

please please....PLEASE give us a terminal and not a tent, a tent would not fit in at my Imperial Research Facility player city, and I have already decorated my large tat house to look like a Plastic Surgeon/Salon, and I paid some credits fora decorator to help me with it too

Hmm... right, I forgot about this... it would be a way to give Wookiee and Mon Cals a way to get ID xp and those that really want to craft it out their way too... hmm.. yes that would make some sense...

As one who has both gotten a Mon Calamari (Sepia) to MID and is currently working on a Wookiee (Miyax) the difficulties of training an ID of one of those races is something I have firsthand knowledge of. I am for anything that would make it easier for them to become IDs.
