Thread: More input needed: Let's Talk About: Combat and ID

Well two other threads have been revived along these lines:

This is a free for all thread to discuss how we see our potential role as a combat support profession. Does it end at stat migration? Our buffing ideas seem to have mostly been allotted to Chefs with their revamps, with the exception of battle fatigue buffing and the non-fleshed out charisma idea... We still have some pending GCW wish list items. Featswere an interesting idea that have come up in various forms...

It would be awesome if you could combine id and other professions like this:

ID + Commado: Get the ability to use a lighter and hairspray

ID + Fencer: Thoose bigh geisha hairpins

ID + Tailor: Stiletto heels

ID + Dancer + Tailor: Ability to really use thoose heels

ID + CM: deodorant of doom!

ID + Artisan: Modern art (gives hughe mind wounds when used on a enemy)

Sorry, are a bit tired

I've always liked the idea of combat + ID, LOL. I remember your April Fool's post, and I was SOOOOO disappointed when I found out it was just a joke. I loved the idea. Still do. I say, anything girly that I can use to maim my enemies, gimme!

ID + Combat = the art of avoinding it

we could maybe boost our holo generator to createone of these effects:

- Transform : my avatar gets covered in a hologram of some static object (a lair, a crafting machine...) . Purely visual, i'm still targetable.

- Displacement : my avatar appear 6 feet away from where you need to click to target me

- Mirror Image: my avatar gets rendered around me 5 times, you gotta pick one of six to target

-Invisibility : almost full invisibility à la KotOR. Targeting me isimpossible but i cant click on anything or effect wear off.

I guess this is playing with IMAGE ans HOLOGRAMS and so could fit well in our profession.

But I will admit there seems to be nothing to craft or no schematics for the ID trade. it's like a trade where everyone else needs us... but re aren't really reliant to others unless you need the XP to progress quicker.

Hmm... ID and their role in combat... Well there are several things that are coming to my mind and many have been come up here one or the other way I think.

1) ID's could be able to get some overt faction member under cover more quickly. This might include another checkbox in our nice interface plus the need to alter a certain amount of details to ensure the success of the under cover work.

2) ID's might be able to 'sell' holoprojectors to project a holo-image of the user for a short period of time as diversion or whatever.

3) ID's might be able to apply some kind of disguise for players. I'm not fully sure which detail of the player should be disguiseable to ensure no exploitation, but it's certainly something that can be helpfull/usefull in the GCW, too. (Maybe some alternate-temporal identity for an undercover operative or something like that. Might be helpfull in smuggler operations, too)

Someone else brought up the idea of using holo-technoligy to disguise players, but I don't think this is very 'star warsy' (whatever that really means), since holographics in Star wars were allways full of statics and translutient so you cannot really hide anything behind them... maybe distord the features, but that would be all I think.

Hmm... beside that I don't think we ID's even need (and many will even say 'want') to be involved in combat itself. we are the ones that give the combat folks this cool look they want to show and who help them fit into their new shiny set of armor.

omg You can take your lead and make a temporary cross faction TEF for use in an "Espionage mission" Imp becomes Reb etc

or a change to "player's" designated Overt status

I've been in dungeons where you need overt status to do things. and how many run around covert t advoid pk

I KNOW I'm not the only one who thinks smuggler revamp here. But then again I probably am. Maybe It could only be used by smugglers who have trained in disguise (which could be added in the revamp). Then we'd getsome regular customers, who would hopefullyactually talk to us when they see us. But that's a different matter, and for a different board, oops.

I think the original idea we had regarding this topic would still be the best...Give ID's the ability to create disquises!

This would greatly enhance the game if done properly:

1. There could be different levels of disquises...generic disquise kits...orpersonalized disquises that must be crafted with the user present as in an ID session...then the customer can choose to use it now or put it on later...& maybe we would be able to craft more than one personalized disquise at a time so they can keep some on hand for later use.

2. Make the benefits work in PVP as well as PVE. Maybe wearing one would let you slip by unnoticed past certain npc chars into enemy bases etc. In PVP it could help players avoid becoming overt or remove an overt status.

Yes, I had the Smugglers revamp in mind there, too. I really hope they will get some nice new stuff with JTLS, too... but as you said: that should be discussed on the smugglers or in development/concept boards.
