Thread: Reports from the FanFest

Ok, this has been the wierdest experience so far. I went to the meet and greet for the FanFest and discover... horror of horrors.. the Developers are geeks exactly like the players.

Example: Rogue-5 was sitting indian style in a little camp circle with another Dev, talking with a group of players about strange SWG experiences, likemale avatarswho figured out how to trick the game into letting themwear things like Exotic Leotard.. or something like that.

I got my registration badge from Runesabre himself. We chatted for a bit, and I tried to work in Image Design. He admitted to me that 62-122-245 hours is a bit long, and actually it was a big relief.. the Developers are really just normal people, after all! Who would have thought that?

So hopeful I'll find NJ62 somewhere around here, and we can get some sort of system going to drag the answers out of the Devs in the Entertainer panel tomorrow!

Ok, the secret to getting your questions answered at places like the FanFest forums is to:

(a)arrive 20 minutes early to the forum, and be the first one to ask a question.

(b) be sure you sit up front. The front row people get twice as many questions answered (mostly because the Dev in the front of room can easily understand and respond to them, I think.)

Unfortunately, the Image Design/Entertainer forum is tomorrow.. so if you have any questions, tell me now!

Of course I'll ask about the 62-122-245 hour Mastery thing, and the stuff Runesabre already posted is a given.

Let me see...

Attended the Roleplaying Forum. Lots of talk about cool events, and exactly how limited the Devs are making them happen. Did you know that everytime Boba Fett says anything, LucasFilms.. not just LucasArts, has to approve it? There's was also so off the record talk about in-game marriages... But you'll have to IM me for more on that.

Attended the Health and Healing Forum. Lots ofCM's upset at PvPers being upset at killing their whole group. There's a report of a possible bug with Medicine Crafting not giving as good results as it should. Also a lot about new mods coming in to help players resist DoTs. DoT's were put into SWG at the last second, and weren't balanced well with other classes.. they were just giving an appopriate DPS. Nothing was said on nerfing Doctor buffs, which I thought was odd.

Up to this point, all the Devs at the forums were directly involved with the professions in question. Not so with the Hybrid forum. I felt sorry for these guys... tossed in with all the bugs in the Bounty Hunter, Squad Leader, Commando, and Smuggler professions whilst the Combat Dev, Dave, was somewhere else.. The big answer here was 'after JtLS.' Squad Leaders might see some some love in the Combat Balance, in Publish 11. Commandoes too, maybe.. but they did admit to some pleasure seeing Master Commandoes being beat upby nunas. *giggles*

The last was the Melee Professions forum, and the code word here was 'After the Combat Balance' Look for armor to be _mega_ nerfed. there was also a mention of something called 'Action Points' that you spent to do combat actions.

Hope that's a good wrap up of the Days forums!

There was also a cool Guild raid were you go to watch Pex use the '/spawn nova_stormtrooper_elite' command a few times and summon a bunch of shuttles while a guild battled to help Boba Fett.

Umm.. no suggestions for questions I could make sure are asked?

***** XP progression.

**** Why can't Entertainer abilities (stat migrations, buffs)ever personally benefit the Entertainer?

*** New art content? Hairstyles, tatoos, something that we can't pick on character select.

** Player base abuse over Stat Migrations.

Is there anything else? I'm sure they'll already know about the Zombie bug.

We're the ones in the bar yelling "HAWTPANTS". No, I'm not joking. I'm around - find me! (was at the tailor panel yesterday..)

Oh yeah, I'll be at the ID forum - won't grill the devs, that's your job though. But I'll be there to "represent!".

All of those sound good...could you also ask about the Devs' obsession with time sinks and if they might maybe think of more creative ways to deal with problems? And also if they'd consider at all giving stat migration back to the playerbase, making our services in speedy migration a luxury (which is what ID is about anyway)?

Thanks Good luck and have fun! Grill 'em good and proper for us.
