Thread: I'd like to see ID's get a race alteration ability.

Keep in mind I've only played this profession on JTL beta but I'd like to see you guys get a specialrace change ability. Make this either a one time thing or once every 3-4 weeks... and maybe have a similar timer as stat migrating, I'm sure if you guys could do this, your business would boom. I wouldn't mind paying 200-300k + for arace change. Why?

Because, I choose trandoshan.A race that has melee modifiers since I was going ot be a TKM and grind FSCS professions. Combined with the jedi revamp, and the fact that any races other than zabrak or human can't wear the ace helmet, I'm embarassed and digusted with my race. I want to change to a zabrak or even a human and I'd pay you ID's big for it and I'm sure you guys would pay big for a profession reviving ability.

I've seen other suggestions similar to this but they have never followed through. I propose adding this to your wish list.. any feedback/ suggestions?

This has been discussed before. LucasArts disallowed it for breaking continuity. Same with gender change I believe.

I'm envisioning Imperial Wookiees going human long enough to buy a cheap AT-ST and people swapping races all over the place depending on what they're doing -- "I'm going to be dancing, so I'll be something with lots of Action pool" "I'm going to be sampling DNA, so I'll take something with a high Mind pool" would be irritating.

Plus I'd hate to be looking for my Twi'lek friend in a roomful of people only to find out he'd become a Bothan.

Then make it possibly one time only? I think its unfair that alien races are unable to access agood chunk of content. I need some help here with this suggestion.

Sorry, but the Powers That Be have made it very clear that this is Not Going to Happen.

so sad, yet so true. The devs have totally ix-nayed anything to do with racial or gender changes. I think it's something that people would like to see, but this has come up many times before, and it's still the same answer. Oh well!

Well, maybe if you guys whine enough it will get done. I know its a childish thing to say, but thats how you get things in MMOG's, whoever whines more gets what they want

I don't think that would work in this case. Lucas is concerned about the image of his artistic creations, and probably concerned very little about whines of subscribers to a game that makes up an extremely small fraction of his fortune.

But that's just my take on the situation.

Does LucasArts have to approve every minute change made to the game before SOE can execute?

This would not be a "minute" change. On the contrary, it would be rather major... and yes, LucasArts does have to approve every major change.

Once again: This doesn't make any sense. If you really feel you NEED to be a Zabrak, then JUST MAKE ANOTHER CHARACTER!!! You can have eight characters on one account. Or, if you cannot stand the idea of that character not having money, get another account to have an Alt on the same server and /tip yourself credits.

People are saying that SOE is being lazy for not making this change? I say players like this are lazy for not wanting to start a new character.

/whine "Oh, but I have spent so long making this character, I don't wanna start over! I wanna have it all, right now!"

For a moment, I thought, "Maybe the original poster doesn't know that this has been discussed ad-nauseum", but then I look back to see that he says he has seen it suggested. And for the player who said that we should just whine until we get it: I really hope you are either a) joking or b) 8 years old, because I would truly be freightened if that is the mentality of an adult. As it is, I am disgusted with the Devs for caving in about the stat-migrate timer (take the time to find my posts on that discussion if you care).

Sheesh. I am sorry about the rant. Ok, I am done.

/takes a deep breath and gets back to work.

First, as several people have stated, Lucas Arts has prohibited any post-creation gender and/or racial changes. That's it. Call SOE, complain, threaten, whatever and it will be fruitless. It simply will not be implemented as they will be breaking their license agreement with Lucas Arts if they do.

Second, re-roll! I did it twice. I started out as a tail-head. After achieving 0034 dancer entirely at the keyboard I re-rolled bothan for RP purposes. After getting 0023 dancer at the keyboard again, I was frustrated by bothan stat limitations for what I was going for (dancer/pikeman...this was before buffs mind you!) I re-rolled. This time as a human that my avatar is today. When I re-rolled I had trustworthy acquaintances hold credits/items for me. If it's that game-breaking for you then re-roll. Things go by more quickly the second (and third) time around, and it gives you something to do and less likely to become bored.

Third, I can't think of any MMO (let alone any single-player rpg) that lets you change your race/gender after creation.

Finally, "reviving" my profession? I didn't know it was dead! I have to hide my title if I don't want to get swamped with /tells for sessions.
