As far as the smuggler stuff goes, forcing people to PvP because they sliced something is a bad idea. The smuggling people thing is pretty cool. I think the rest of the stuff is alright, but all the variables gave me a headache and I kinda didn't pay attention. I seriously doubt taht they will allow smugglers to steal from other players and personally I don't want to. Now sneaking into an imp base and ripping off weapons or something is a different story. Maybe make a weapon only availaable from reb or imp bases and smugglers can steal them. Like a Nym slug thrower or something. It probably wont be any good, so it would have to look cool hanging on a wall.

I'm personally not a big fan of player bonties. I just don't like the idea of forced PvP. (Yes that includes Bountyhunters hunting Jedi)
About the idea of using image designers to evde detection... well that's certainly something that would fit our role pretty good. Though I fear that the majority of the Image Designers won't like to craft anything. Most of us are happy that they don't need to craft anything in our profession. But visiting an ID to hide from BH-detection is something in the range of possibility.
But I still don't like the idea of player bounties. But that's just my personal view.

Well, I did't necesasrily say it had to be crafted, only that a Disguise Kit was applied. Perhaps components could be made by Bio-Engineers, and the ID simply applies it. The time it takes, and the duration of the effect are not as much a result of the components (well, it may play a factor), it is the IDs skill that makes the difference.

Some good points. Stealing from others might not be such a good idea. Perhaps the number of times someone is caught with a item sliced by you, or caught with spice made from you, is what sets off the Bounty. 10 times, like I had for other things.

I haven't read the thread with the main concept of your stuff, but realise this... There are enough problems with database queries as it is. Every smuggling concept legitimately suggested on these forums had to revolve around the concept of minimal database stress... oh yeah, and slicing needs to be illegal for the user more than it does the slicer. Someone making an illegal mod is going to try and leave no trace of their involvement, but the end user cannot deny his involvement.
And stealing from players is never a good idea.

I have modified the post to reflect that the componets are crafted by Bio-Enginers. I also made the quality of the components affect the quantity needed, but not the effect.

I have editied the original post to reflect that it takes 10 times where someone is discovered with items sliced by you, or 10 times where someone is discovered with spice made by you, before you can get marked.
I have also removed the stealing abilities.

Some way to disguise yourself or someone else is on our wishlist for some time now. Be it the ability to reduce visibility from Bountyhunters or simply to prevent being detected by them for some limited time or be it to have a better chance to pass a stormtrooper-scan and not being forced overt... It's definitly something for the ID.

That's why I made sure to include Image Designers in this idea. There is no reason for someone to disguise themselves arbitrarily. Having a bounty on your head will inspire you to see an Image Designer. I like the thought of each profession being interdependant on others.

The idea of player bounties doesn't bother me so much as the idea of having to be in a salon disguising the hunted people. Can you imagine the potential carnage, trapped in a small area with the timer counting down when a BH walks in? Not to mention the "You are already in the process of an Image Design session" bug which comes up when combat interrupts an ID.
