Wouldnt it be wonderful to have an Image Design Mission Terminal?

Missions would be available based on skill.

You would be sent to a select location to ID someone for X credits for a larger gain of XP.

Example:

Politician's Ball:

Vermik Vondeeger, Mayor of Tyrena, Corellia (okay I made it up), is hosting a grand ball. All of his staff needs new haircuts, and various other imaging alterations.

4578 credits

600 XP per completed staff alteration.

When you get to the wp (at a camp outside the city or in one of the structures inside the city, either of which would act as a salon including timer restrictions), there will be anywhere from 5-10 staff members needing various alterations. Give each of them new hair cuts and whatever alterations they request. Of course they would have to request simple things such as hair color change, eye color change, cosmetic changes, ect so that the missions wouldnt have to be too skill specific.

With the completion of a tree, higher level missions would be available.

Missions would have to be based on these skills:

Nov Ent> 1-3k payout/150 xp per customer

Nov ID> 3-6k payout/300 xp per customer

While I like the idea as a way to jumpstart your leveling, I think that missions defeat the point of ID - which is interaction. Granted artisans have missions at low levels - but it's just to kickstart their careers until they are selling on the market, and the missions are not done for very long. High level artisans do not use the missions anymore - however, under this system ID's could continue to use the missions all the way through, thereby discouraging interaction.

Why bother dealing with customers who might not pay, if you can mission your way through the profession? Why bother interacting with people at master if you can make more money with missions?People say that it is hard to find an image designer now. Imagine how hard it would be if ID's were busy doing missions?

ANd finally, the issue of economics. In every MMO there are faucets and there are drains. Currently missions for combat types are the faucets. They bring the money into the economy, which trickles down through the artisans, healers, and others as the combatants purchase goods and services. Here you would be introducing a new faucet which would lead to inflation.

I like the idea of ID-missions, too. The idea you had for the mission example itself is pretty nice and similar to an idea I had myself. But I sare NJ's concern about the rewards (xp and credits alike).

The reward-level of the combat mission is roughly scaled with the risc the players takes to fullfill the mission and to earn thos credits. The artisan missions (atleast those that hold some worthwile credit-reward) mostly include a certain risc as well (traveling the land as non-combatant can be pretty riscy too). Imagedesigning a couple of NPCs doesn't really hold much risc so even if you take the need for traveling intoconsiderationthe payout couldn't be very high. The xp would need to be those you simply get from the ID-jobs that need to be done, simply because there is no reason to give a higher xp-payout. Fighters don't get more xp for killing a mission-monster than they would get from killing a wild spawn, too.

But those are simply numbers to tweak and balance. The idea itself is great

1275credits

150XP perCOMPLETED staff alteration. 75 XP per partial alteration.

this would allow some sort of income/xp gains for the leveling ID who just cant seem to find anyone to ID on but themselves, and allow for similar xp gains they would get by practicing on themselves, but allowing them to level in a manner that would not tie them down to a salon all day long, and a way to make money while they are leveling. However, it would render the missions basically useless other than for RP factors for higher skilled ID. This would also take less randomization of the mission spacifics, as if you did not have the skill to complete all of the requests, you would still get partial xp credit for the work you did do. IE: Bonna Novae, a Zabrak, needs a hair cut, color, green eyes, red lipstick, and a new tatoo, but you are only Ent ID II. Since you would obviously only be able to complete part of her requests, you would only receive half of the xp. However, a tatoo artist would be able to complete all of her requests and and get full xp credit.

Take into consideration also that each mission would have 5-10 customers that needed to be satisfied acting as the "lair" of the mission. In order for the ID to get paid, they would need to alter all customers images to the best of their abilities. This would deter from the "money" aspect of it. Spending 2 min on each customer (some may even ask for a stat migration taking 4m) for as many as 10 customers, that would be a max $/XP gain of 6k credits/3k xp in a minimum of 20 minutes. Anyone who has even attempted ID will know that the chances of getting requests for a SM every 4m w/customers who usually tip 10k is worth more than that. However, this would solve the problem of ID's who cannot work on themselves until eye color, ID's who are online during off hours, ID's who just have absolutely no luck finding customers, ID's who do not have friends or alt's to vicitmize, and ID's who just want to do a bit of RP within the galaxy.

It would not deter too much from the salon life as it is, but rather just add an element to ID that would be kind of neat and a way to make money during "slow times".

I must say, I would use this even as a M.ID between clients. As many ppl hoot and holler about there never being an ID online, I rarely get customers.

Yeah, most professions need a way to make money starting out, as artisan missions recognize. Small low-payout missions would be a good way for entertainer-ID's to make xp and cash, but would be trumped by stat migrations at novice ID. I think this new proposa would put these missions a lot more in-line with or parallel to their artisan counterparts.

(I'm not mentioning parallel to entertainer missions because HAHHAHAHAHA).

okay, so the next questoin would be, would this be something worth pushing for?

ID has never had a way for aspiring professionals to level without begging or self mutilation. This would open up a fun interactive way for a new player to get use to the profession.

I know most of the IDs are on about ideas that benefit them on a higher level, but I would personally like to see a way to introduce this as a fun profession to a new player.

I suspect if a change in entertainer missions ever occurs, that would be an ideal time to bring this up.

I defintly think that ID-missions are worth considering. Since all the terminal-missions are pretty boring I really hope for some kind of revamp focusing on those missions. The combat folks are more or less convenient with their missions, beside the fact that they are allways the same, but crafters and entertainers really needs some fresh and more rewarding stuff on their terminals. Under this concept it will be a good idea to bring up ID-missions as well.

I think if every profession got a Revamp to where they had missions much like the space pilot professions with an actual good storyline and time in-between to explore your new goodies (Duty Missions) in between leveling would be sweet. Then no profession could really be mastered in a day because level gainnig requires both grinding and questing. Just like teh Force Sensitive Quests and the Pilot Quests.

Yeah because if over a million credits for a carpet or a weapon is where we are without inflation Sibulan help us if Image Designers can earn a living. The price of lip gloss and gaudy clothing would skyrocket.

Combat faucets on the left. Artisan drains on the right. Entertainers are the stagnant puddlesin the middle.
