Thread: Let's talk about: Image Design User Interface
v What would your dream Image Designer user Interface look like?
v What would your dream Image Design Customeruser Interface look like?
v Whatfunction would theImage Designer user Interface have?
- It would have four main areas;
- on the left side a full body character full, like in the examie pop-up.
- in the center controls like we have now.
- Rightside a fiscial view of the character.
- Across bottom a private chat box for the IDer and customer.
v What would your dream Image Design Customeruser Interface look like?
- same as Image Designer minus the controls section.
v Whatnew functions would theImage Designer user Interface have?
- Would not close with each Image Design.
- Chat box.
- Both IDer and customer can view chages before commet.

- Left-hand side: 4-tab interface displaying client's original values (at the time /image was typed) [collapsable]
- Right-hand side: 4-tab interface displaying sliders/palettes for every feature related to that tab (markings/face/body/hair) [collapsable]
- Center: Fully rotatable, positionable, zoomable WELL LIGHTED view of the client (akin to the inventory paper doll, but zooming doesn't force you to focus on the face—you would be able to drag to examine the toe nails if you felt like it)
- Bottom: Reset to original, cancel, and offer buttons, as well as cost box. Client would not be able to accept without meeting or exceeding amount in cost box.
v What would your dream Image Design Customeruser Interface look like?
- Same as above, but they can't change any of the sliders or palettes on the right-hand side, just see what I've selected.
v Whatfunction would theImage Designer user Interface have?
- It would allow for "batch" changes as well as secure payment, in addition to providing adequate lighting so that both the ID and client can see the changes as they really are.
v What would your dream Image Designer user Interface look like?
- I think Voor and Syzgy have covered it.
v What would your dream Image Design Customeruser Interface look like?
- However, I don't want the client to be able to see the sliders or the available colors. They will always say "minimum" or "maximum" because of the position on the slider. I'm all for letting them see the results as they're happening, and to be able to zoom in or out, but letting them see the sliders or colors may bias them because they will focus on the slider value or the color box and ignore how it looks on their avatar. I know clients who say "just a little fat" and I bump the slider up to 1/4 and they say "perfect!" They would not accept if they could see that the slider was up at 1/4.
v Whatfunction would theImage Designer user Interface have?
- Secure payment
- Ability to "undo" everything at once
- Ability to change multiple features at once so that clients can see "full picture" - i.e. all facial changes at once, all marking changes at once...

Because this a Dream user interface I like to add one more thing.
Tonight I'm planning on getting a rolladex to keep track of good and bad customers. and I'm thinking a in-game rolladex in the ID UI would be great.

I think that everything mentioned so far, including N'Jessi's additions sounds great! The only other thing that I would add somewhere on the image designer's side of the interface is a box that has original and changed slider and color values so we can set things back to how they were if we need to. I really like the idea of being able to change lots of things at once and letting the customer see the results (as a matter of fact, I would probably add a present image button so we can display the final job when we are done). So often a lot of things need to be changed in order to make a look come together and it looks really strange in the middle of a job. I have had a lot of nervous customers turn down changes the first several times until I can reassure them that it will all look right in the end. They always like the results when I am finished, though.
- Would not close with each commet.
- Both IDer and customer can view chages before commet.
- Pre-Master Image designer have commet each change
- Master Image designercan do multichanges before commet
- Secure payment
- present image button
- Reset All button (even commeted stuff)
- Rest/Undo last or current tabbutton
- Chat box
- Customer Rolladex
What?? Why was I met with so much resistance on this.... now everyone wants it?

As usual, I love n'Jessi's ideas. I am desperate for a well-lit interface where I can zoom in if needed, the customer can see changes as they're made, and a customer clicking the "accept" button automatically renders payment from them. Secure payment method is sorely needed. ID isn't like a set of doc buffs or getting a mind buff from a dancer. In those cases, you KNOW what you're paying for so payment in advance is the norm. With ID... someone might come in for a quick hair color change and leave looking TOTALLY different. So asking for 1 or 2k up front would be counterproductive to the image designer.
