Thread: trying to master image designer

It won't get any better until the publish that makes stat migrations worth 2k. I know I'll be thankful for this. But, it's still going to annoy me that you're going to have the grinders who will find a buddy to migrate 1 stat point every 10 minutes and make master 5 times faster than I will. But, hey, I guess, in the grand scheme of things that doesn't really matter. You're always going to have people who do that. And, I guess the good outweighs the bad here. It will cut down the 2304981768 hours that I have to spend in that tent.
Probably what's going to be worse is the catfights in the tent over which ID gets to migrate stats. LOL. I'm already starting to level up in Marksman so I can duel for them.
Your buddy doesn't actually have to change anything. As long as the "migrate stats" button is checked, you get exp. And as I mentioned in another thread, try to find a crafter who is grinding with a good stock of materials to be your dummy, all they do is sit around and craft anyway, another UI isn't too much skin of their backs.

Four for Eye Changes. [Ever 2.5 minutes]
Five for Stat Migration. [Ever 10 minutes]
Versus, the practically 40 per minute we had under old system...
Yea it's really bad :x.

You only have to push one button on one account thanks to /ui action defaultButton. And don't forget, patch 9 is going to "help" our exp progression, for those with multi accounts.
That idea to use 14-day trial accounts is a fantastic thought though. Then we can all grind ID without partners; as long as their going to force us to do stat migrations, we should advocate using trial accounts to any and all ID hopefuls.
Good idea. I know that there is no way I could have made it to master without my second account. It took long enough as it was.

Funny that the only ones not complaining about the time constraint vs exp on leveling ID are the masters?!
Instead of buttons you know I meant time!
sheesh..
I have an auto accept macro on my ID leveling and I sat there using my SISTER for two hours on one level and still didn't level it yet!! (and that was only for 20000 exp) I can get that in less than an hour with Tailoring.
Like I said, the masters only care about time constraint cause they didn't have it before.
and you pushed alot of buttons because with each button came some experience!
think about it
Cynnamon
Actually, cynnamon, I've found it's a bit of a misconception among (understandably) irritable novice ID's that the MIDs support the timers, and are happily resting on their laurels with no new competition. I am a MID, but I mastered under the new system (publish 9, which is a bit easier but still a b****). If you look around the forums, the masters complain about the timers too, and the ID community here is working hard to improve our exp progression. I don't think I've ever met someone happy that it took so friggin long to be an ID... people are glad it isn't a two hour grind now, but not glad that it's weeks and weeks of sullen boredom.
Like i said above, there are some good reasons the MID timer is shorter, and it shouldn't make you much less competitive anyway. I've never had an ID take less than the timer time. It only makes a difference when grinding, as far as I've ever seen.

Hmm, 20,000 ID XP, Over 2 hours, Means you're averaging around 166/min, so prolly just 120xp/min and using eye color changes
Yes it is slower, but comparing against individual skill boxes is a poor way to make the point [since the roughly 7200 xp/hr rate puts even the Level boxes at 5 hours a piece]. At least you ahve a rate increase to look forward next tuesday though, would take about 3 and a 1/3 hours total to get a Level 4 Skill box then.
Further comparing specific experience point rates between Tailoring and Image Design is a poor idea due to well experience being different xp rates [with Tailoring costing an guessitimate of about twice the numerical value of ID]. Although you still have a fair point, you can gain Tailoring experience faster, especially if you multitool grind.
And ironically still, that rate is faster than my progress through ID at the beginining. Not saying I had it harder or even that I didn't have it easier. Just that it isn't really fair to say we have no concept of how long this profession now takes to master. Especially when its the masters who have been running the numbers for detailing exactly how long the profession takes to master now. And read there are a few current IDs who appreciate the new system, of course quite honestly we don't hear back from them that often after they post that they just got to Novice ID or Hair Styling II and are happy with the system and folks iterate to them to come back when they're at Box 4 or what not
Personally? I dislike the current rate of advancement for Image Designers, it's far too slow. However, the more I read these ramblings and the more I get inclined to run numbers for folks, the 'less bad' the situation appears. I do rather enjoy the numerous threads that are striving to help Image Designers 'handle' the situation as it is currently, as at the very least, they are helping.
