Thread: Poll: What lies ahead for ID

Just wondering what you all think is coming to ID in general, the stuff they will change, the stuff they wont....Of course we cant know, not all of us at least, what they are thinking for they are not speaking much on it. Any thoughts?
Not much. Smugglers have been postponed till after JTLS, the chances of us getting anything other than minor tweaks strikes me as, umm, small.
BTW I would be ecstatic to have to come back and eat crow after a major fix
What lies ahead:
1.) False promises
2.) Disappointment
3.) Delayed fixes
4.) No new content
5.) More whiney beginners complaining how haaarrrrrd image design is
6.) And a big helping of goooood ol NOTHING!
Personally, I think the beginners mentioned in 5.) have a legitimate foundation for every horrible thing they say.

What foundation? A timer that makes them level at an acceptable pace instead of total mastery of the profession in 40 minutes? Unless one was a hologrinder, before patch 8.1, no one had the feignest interest in being an image designer. Know why? Because like every other profession, once a new profession gets some attention, albight a marketable skill, they all try and jump on it to capitolize. Where are these designers gonna be when we get no contetnt for another year and pink and purple hair loses it's lusture and stat mitigation is offered to everyone again? I'll tell you, they will be following the next flavor of the month, and I'll still be designing. These very people hem and haw until our profession is changed, and when it is, they will leave it.
These people will tell me I am wrong, but I have thier names, and I will be sure to visit them in 6 months and askthem for a skin color change to see ifthey are still Master Image Designers. There is nothing wrong with the timer, I support it, and I even support it in favor that even masters should endure the timer and not have it removed at mastery. It encourages socializing for the truely social, and imho, if you aren't social, you should be firing a gun d00d...
Do you HONESTLY believe that 60/132/255 hours to mastery is an ACCEPTABLE rate? Yes, the 40 minutes to 2 hours was too short, but 60 to 255 hours is WAY TOO LONG! Admittedly, my wookie on Eclipse has been working on BE for even longer, but that is only because I refuse to craft in practice mode, and have therefore been sticking with making creatures... which means that I am limited by the DNA Samples I can collect. ID is different in that you MUST "practice" unless you have a customer... and you can't GET a customer unless you are good... so you HAVE to practice to get good enough to where you CAN get customers... this means GRINDING... and GRINDING is NO FUN!
When my BE makes a creature, it is FUN... because I never know how it will turn out.
When my ID has a CUSTOMER, it is FUN, because I like to see what a given change will do to their appearance.
When my ID has NO CUSTOMERS or only has customers who want STAT MIGRATIONS, then it is NO FUN because it is a GRIND.
Personally, I think a 30 second to 1 minutes timer is about the max that the timers should be set at. A session with a REAL customer may go on longer than that, but if I have a customer, that is no hardship. I would willingly spend half an hour or more helping a customer get just the RIGHT look and never mind the xp. If I don't have a customer, however, anything over a minute becomes a GRIND. In all truth, I would rather see the Holo-Grinders master ID and get out, leaving the field to those of us who WANT TO BE IDs.
So what it all comes down to is this: Timers = Grinding = NO FUN

Please guys and gals, we all (all of us meaning all of us but a few master ID's)dislike the timer/ xp grind/ stat migration aspect of ID. But this was not meant to be a rant/rant on those rantingthreadIhope we can keep this for our thoughts on what they will do to improve ID, when they will make the changes, and what we all hope to see out of it.
Sorry. It doesn't take much to get me started ranting about the revamp.
