Why do male twils have human-like ears and female twils have bumps? I am not that knowledable about star wars, but I am trying to learn.

And did I spell Twi'lek right?

Hmm... good question... maybe it's because the Twi'lek girls (yes, you spelled it right, I think) don't want to hear all this greedy talk of those males all the time... or it's just to make em look more 'exotic'... only George Lucas or the Designer orignially creating the Twi'lek might be able to tell us.

They are different? I never noticed that.

I shall go find some Twi'leks to see their bumps versus their ears...

I've wondered this as well. But, I don't question SOE logic anymore.

Actually, it has nothing to do with SOE's logic at all, they just followed Lucas' creation on this one. Throughout the films the female Twi'leks had no ears, just this small dumps, where as the males (Bib Fortuna, for example) did have ears.

Why? Who knows, but when you've conjured up such an extensive universe in the way Lucas has, you're allowed to do a few things without explaining why

Maybe it's some kind of circumcision (spelling?).

*laughs* Oola probably didn't need ears, y'see, 'cause she had no lines or verbal cues on the set.

They couldn't cover up Bib's ears because he actually had to interact with Threepio and Luke and the rest and needed ears to have a clue. Couldn't hear with foam rubber covering the sides of his head.

Woohoo! Mystery solved!

Okay, now why do male twi'leks have faces a lighter shade than their skin, where females have a single shade?

Did we even see ears in the movies? I thought the female twis were usually wearing bone crests.
