(I realize that perhaps this doesn't belong in Game Guides, but it doesn't belong in any of the other Core Systems forums, so here goes.)

Many of us, if not most, hate the new player movement changes. Some people say they don't mind or don't see any difference, but I haven't heard anyone say they like the changes. The lack of inertia makes me feel like I'm in an old-school overhead RPG, and it is not befitting of a realistic game (overall) such as Star Wars Galaxies. It's a step back, and new players are bound to say, "The movement is jerky in this game." Therefore I request of the development team that you please reset the player movement to the way it used to be.

Now so this isn't a full-on whine, I will say that I like some elements of the new publish, like double-clicking swoops to mount/dismount and many of the GCW base adjustments.

This is being dealt with, a focus thread was made on the live board, players posted their feedback in it, and the devs have gone off to have a think about it.

Threads like these are a complete waste of time.

In fact you owe me three minutes for typing this post.

I hated it also, but dont count on them going and changing it. They are really proud of that stinky little turd of a development.

Sadly, I will not be renewing my subscription when it dies off. SWG, you have been fun, but no longer unfortunatly.

Is it REALLY unrealistic though? I think it was just as unrealistic before if not more so. Maybe having the mobility of a mack truck is normal for the players who resemble the comic book guy sitting there in their greazy hoagie stained "Yoda Lives" t-shirt, but not for a StarWars hero/heroine. I mean think about it...stand in the middle of your room and then run a few steps (not sprint, that's what "burst run" is, think "lite jogging") then stop. Look a little jerky? Pretty much. I agree that coming to a sudden stop during burst mode would look pretty unrealistic though.

As far as them making the change for a possible twitch based combat style, I'd love it. I've always thought spamming specials into a queue to be executed a few seconds later was a little on the lame side. It's like it WANTS to be twitch but just doesn't quite get there. Since they want to make the GCW the central point of this game, I think it would be a really great idea and at least it would give people a reason to get used to the new movement and would be nice if they gave us some details as to why it's needed. I admit that I get dizzy, nauseous if I start playing a fps if I haven't played one in a while (partly because I play em like a spaz, spinning around and jumping), but after a couple days your body adjusts and it goes away.

I can just hear the "if I wanted twitch, I'd play Planetside!!!" chorus now...I'll throw these in to help ya out:
If I wanted quests, I'd play EQ2!!!!
If I wanted space combat, I'd play X vs Tie!!!
If I wanted role playing, I'd play table top SW game!!!

Enough with those "if I wanted x, I'd play x" arguments already...

That is all.

I dont 'like' it, or 'dislike' it. I did notice it looked a bit jerky. I also noticed it seemed to run a bit smoother like this. My vote is always for better performance over appearance.

You can traverse 1 km in under 2 minutes without burst run. When is the last time you've run a mile in around 4.4 minutes? That is not jogging; that iscompetitive running.

I DON'T like it, it's completely unrealistic in the sense of movement, but I'm not sure the slowness of the prior inertia was any better.

If normal run is full on sprinting, then what is burst run exactly? Look at the animation when you're just normally running. Does it look like a full out olympic sprint? Looks like fairly light jogging to me. The km per minute break down or whatever is moot because they make changes to stuff like that to feel faster otherwise people would complain about how slow movement is (and rightfully so). Gameplay is more important than realism. If run equals sprinting, then they should change it so that our current run speed is burst run and make our normal run slower. Somehow I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I also like it. A little jerky but the fact that i can drive through coronet without getting hitched in an archway is way more important.
