The only difference in mine from the original is the combat tab to the left of the chat window. If I move around too much, I get very confused. I did however stretch out the HAM bars of me and enemies, by making the tool bar smaller.

It's pretty much the same still, except the radar is now in the centre of the Chat and Combat Tabs.

I found myself dying unexpectedly when I had my HAM bar tucked away in the corner... I guess I need the huge graphical representation of HAM to send warning signals to my brain.

I have my HUD similar to the one above as far as positioning goes. Other differences are that I tuned my network stat windo off...no need to see it anymore, I get about the same stats everytime...plus I can just do ctrl-shift-G and see all I need to see.

I also wish I can turn of the holo bar because I use keyboard commands...ctrl-e, ctrl-s, ctrl-i..etc. for everything, but since you can only reposition it, I'm stuck with it on my screen.

otherwise, everything is the same.

Now my alt has a complete different setup....instead of two spatial windows, I just stretched the one across the whole bottom portion of the screen, since I don't need separate windows for combat spam and such...she's a crafter so no real need for combat spam.

Have to agree on wanting to be able to hide the buttom bar, only good it's for is seeing if you have any unread mails. Other than that the only thing I really miss is being able to set the opacity seperat for all windows, really liked that you could do that in EVE.

This is how I arrange my HUD, for PvE anyway. I have acompletely differerent arrangement for PvP.

Excuse the graphics too, it's a new card and I'm still playing around with settings to find something I'm comfortable with.

To answer your question, however, an effective HUD layout requires the following...

1.) Do not put any commands into the toolbar that you will not use. If there are two or more commands you use in succession, add them to a macro and use them all asa singletoolbar button. Save as many slots as possible for things like weapon/armour macros, foods/heals,and important specials.

2.) Make your radar big. The bigger the radar, the easier it is to notice a red dot closing from any direction.

3.) Make sure that you can see your combat log, groupchat, and/or guild chatwindows at the same time. Communication and information are central.

4.) Limit clutter. If you don't use things like "waypoint monitor" or "experience monitor" then *turn them off*.

5.) Put both ham meters close together, this way you can monitor your HAM/states and enemy HAM/states at a single glance.

6.) Squish the group bar as small as possible, it's a waste of space.

7.) Add "/deathblow" to a toolbar button.

I hope this helps.
