Today's Friday Feature looks forward at an upcoming feature: House Packup.

House Packup is a new feature that makes moving your house and everything in it simple and easy!

Special thanks to Drashk for his house packup insights!

So when's it coming to Live? /grin

Choice comments regarding ToOW Beta:
  • "When this goes Live, they'll be retiring the hamsters and powering the servers from Alec Guiness spinning in his grave."

  • "SWG would be a lot better if the developer meetings didn't start with one of the chumps saying 'Hey guys! I was playing WoW last night and...'"

  • "The only way they can make this more depressing is putting a gate up in the Starport with 'Arbeit Macht Frei' written across it."

Just a suggestion to the whole, mayor packs up and moves houses around. Make sure an email is sent with the new location of the house. Would hate to see an angry mayor relocate an entire town to the middle of no where.

Is this feature intended to facillitate a future server merge?

Nope. This was to facilitate the fact that after the CU, certain parts of the galaxy were much more dangerous than before. People needed an easier way to move to move their houses "as-is" and not have to redecorate. Plus its a neat feature

Does that mean there is no plan for a server merge? I know that the populations of some of the smaller servers would welcome a merge. Even some of the larger servers could use an injection of different players to spice things up.

Great Feature guys!

One question (I am sure it has been asked) but if I have 2 large houses (all lots taken) and I pack up one of them, can it Place it again even thoughI have 0 lots available?

this will be awesome when I transfer from my Large house to a guildhall building, I can find a location for my guildhall, place it. then pack up my house and go lay it right next to the guildhall and start transferring items. Way better than before when you had to do inventory fill up runs and tedious transfers, expecially if your house is full.

So lets say I hae a large house and 2 free lots, I pack up my large house (I still have 2 free lots) go to another planet. Can I then drop my large house? Will the system realize I am reusing those 5 lots dedicated to the packed house?

Yes - packing up a house does not free up those lots.

I don't mean to be a "sticklier" but I don't think you answered the question. If he only has 2 Slots Available (5 of his 10 are being used up from the packed house) will he be allowed to replace the LARGE house with just 2 open slots.

  • Yes, I know that the 5 are already accounted for as you do not get slots back for packing your house, but it was a BUG on Test Center and I would hope it would be fixed before going live, so has that bug been fixed?

Will you be able to "unpack" the house if you have no open slots?

TH,

Could this new house pack option be made to autopack an inactive players house. Lets say player Joe Smith does not log on for sixty days then the sever on startup says ok this player is inactive and packs the house up and puts itin Joe Smiths datapad and next time he logs on he could place it again. This would be awsome for player city's. It would also reduce server load and would get rid of ghost towns as well. I was Mayor of our city for a long time and I hated peeps that left game and did not pull there house up. This would solve that problem

As mentioned in other posts this is something that they are discussing and passing onto the team... *crosses fingers* I can only hope that we'd finally be able to effectively run a Player City.
