Of late there has been much whining and gnashing of teeth over what is going to happen to those people who have been playing for the last 3 or so months, have ground out 25+ professions but have not been able to unlock their FS slot.
Now don't get me wrong, if anyone has the fortitude to sit there day after day, doing the same mindless, menial and repetitive tasks over and over again to get a profession badge, they deserve everything that is coming to them (and having a not-so quick look through the boards they will be getting what they have been asking for).
But what about those of us who haven't been grinding endlessly since the Holocrons where released?
What about those of us who have been playing the game as it was intended?
You know, the players who stuck by their professions and made all the really cool stuff that other players use day-to-day. The players who dedication and use of time allowed for the creation of trillions of units of resources that others used to grind through a crafting profession. Those of us who took the time to create the player cities and the support infrastructure that provided an environment for other players to play in, whether it be for R/P purposes or just for somewhere to drop a storage house that was easily reached by a shuttleport.
In all the hulabaloo about Patch 10, and rewards for the grinders, etc, it appears that those of us who played the game as intended, are now being actively penalised by the Devs for doing what they wanted us to do all along.
After Patch 10, if you are not FS, you are basically nothing. As a crafter you wont be able to compete against a crafter who has FS. As a Fighter you won't be able to out-fight a FS Fighter.
So basically once Patch 10 is released, those of us who didnt hologrind, those of us who played the game - AS INTENDED - will be officially treated as second class citizens, no better than a white NPC wandering aimlessly through the countryside.
At least until JTL is released and we can leave thearmies of Jedis and FS folkson the ground
Or am I wrong and those of us who have been playing the game with dedication to the gameplay will be rewarded in some way, shape or form?
Amendment - I am not asking that those who didn't hologrind get what the hologrinders will get come patch 10. All I am asking for is something, anything to prevent a large part of the player base being subjected to a virtual ingame apartheid system.

crafters dont get anything special. the "Experimentation" boxes dont give you more exp points, they just give you a higher chance to amazing sucess. otherwise there would be 14 point armor/weaponsmiths that could make some overpowered items.
fighters on the otherhand. ya a FS fighter looks like it will win, if they get some ranged/melee defence and the accuracy...most hardcore players are already speedcapped but with the speed tree more noobs will be now.

Well.. that's the problem isn't it... those of us that didn't grind toward jedi WILL be working for them when they take over.
My predection is if you're not a FS crafter, you will be out of business in short order.
Not everyone had the time/funds to do nothing but mindlessly grind through 30 professions. Plus it was already said by the devs that Holocrons were a mistake, so yes.. those of us NOT grinding out every profession were playing 'as intended'

Wow, and that is where the game went wrong.
Not trying to be a punk or anything but that statement right there about sums it up.

Indeed.. the orignal poster can go on about how he will not be rewarded etc etc for sticking by his profession.. but as the RTL3 stated if he wanted jedi he knew what was needed in order to achieve jedi.. and that was to holo grind..
I've been grinding since january becasue i wanted jedi.. i mastered my 30th proefession last night.. i used alot of the proffesions along the way.. doing tkm 3 times and swordsman twice.. y? because i enjoyed the skills they gave me and liked to use them as much as i could.. i was master AS for 4 weeks.. making reasonable armour and selling it at reasonable prices.. so in fact i was playing the game as he states was originally intended..
The simple fact that i wanted jedi made me grind thus makingit impossible for me to stay one prof for the entire lifespan of my char.. i mean come on wheres the fun in not trying everything the game has to offer..
All this was started way before we knew there would be a new unlocking system put in place.. anyone playing since before the quests update was announced all were given the same chance of getting their jedi.. so if u decided you didnt want jedi then dont come on here now crying because you have suddenly realised you havent done anything to actually work towards JEDI..

i have refused to grind since they first announced that holocrons actually did something. i knew i probably wouldnt be a jedi but i didnt really care. its just SOE telling us how to play the game. making jedi seem as if its the ultimate goal in the game. its actually subtle mind control

No I'm not terribly interested in being a Jedi, however I would do it for the FS and the extra character slot you get (as I suspect most people are planning on doing).
When Holos where first released I did my first one (Master Sword) and then pulled up Master Pikeman as the 2nd. Owing to constraints on time, other activities in the game (running a city which I could not resign from) and supporting fellow guildies who were hologrinding, I was not able to dedicate the time to grinding away. So I didnt bother and held out some slim hope that us "normal" players would be somehow recognised for the efforst we have made and for our contributions to the game community.
That is unfortunately not the case, and even worse is that those of us who have been supporting the grinders, are now being abused for not grinding as well!!!!! So thanks to the Devs and SOE, we have been left behind to rot until JTL.
To look at your statement though in the light of day, if everyone who wanted to "be a jedi" or who just wanted to get FS and an extra slot did what you suggest, the game would of died a long, long time ago.

id actually say that this game did die awhile ago. we stopped having real people playing and got afk grinders and macroers. sure theres the few who actually play but the majority became slaves to the jedi ideal.

Why do you say hologrinders weren't playing the game as intended?
It seems to me hologrinders were hologrinding because SOE intended on that being the way to play to open your force sensitive slot.
While I do agree that the hologrinding method sucked, don't blame the players. Too often I've seen hostility against hologrinders, from people like you, correspondants who don't want how to posts in their forum, and in other areas.
It all boils down to players doing what they had to do, because that's the system SOE put in place. BE mad at SOE, not hologrinders.

There's the key statement right there. You didn't bother... why on Earth would you expect to be advanced in the new system? If you did zero in the old system, wouldn'tyou logically get zero in the new?
Also, you did get a reward... an entirely new system which is more to everyone's liking... especially to those of you who didn't holo-grind at all.
No offense or flame intended, but I fail to understand your point...
