throw 1 trap of each kind at a creature BEFORE you shoot at it. you get xp for each different trap thrown. if it fails, throw the same kind again. i can walk up to an easy creature and throw all 6 traps at it and get xp for each.

try them out. see what their effects are. combine them with your special shots (if you picked up the marksman skill) and you have one POWERFUL weapon.

make sure you do all your testing on easy creatures though. lol

my favorite combo, bone spur and head shot. takes em down every time.

As you get higher up in Trapping skills there are different types. I like using the Stinkbomb followed by the Adhesive Mesh. The SB debuffs resistances against other trap types. Then the Adhesive Mesh holds them in place for a bit.

A quick way to get Trapping skils up is go to Lok. Find someone who is hunting and politely ask if you can lob traps at their cirtters. But I am sure this will get nerf'd soon too

trapping is the easiest, and fastest skill line in the scout/ranger professions.

just throw 1 of each trap at every creature you fight. if they hit, youll get xp for each hit. go after big creatures because they give alot more bang for the buck. im only 8k away from finishing up Advanced Trapping IV in the ranger line. once you start adding traps to your rotation, youll see how fast youll really gain xp in it.

what kind of problems are you having? i'm a ranger and my trapping skills have been the ones to go along the fastest. in the beginning use traps on anything and everything (that is an animal) and it will start going up. i find that having trapping higher than any of your other skills helps because the higher the traps, the better the effects, the more they help you take the animal down. i hop this helped you.

Trapping is invaluable. You can take down higher lvl monsters with it easily. So they make your fights easier and gain skill ups by simply using them, it is one of the best scout skills for fighters.

I only have trapping 3 at this point but I make sure I have traps up in the hot keys all the time. Learn what each one does, how they compliment what weapon you use, and you will love them.

I got trapping 1-4 in just a few hours on Naboo. Hit all the n00b creatures like gnorts and such with the tier 1 trapping. That way you don't get the "has no effect" or whatever it says. Tier 2 move up to a mob with around 600-800 ham....you'll get around 100/trap. At trapping 4 you can hit any mob anywhere...might as well just stick with rabid shauput if you see 1. I got all of trapping 4 offonly 4 rabid shauputs hehe. You'll want to do this with a probot to tank for you. Especially a pet if you've gone that route with your scout skills.

yeah, hotkey the traps. thats important.

i have a whole bank filled with my traps. when i get low, i just make a whole bunch more traps.

also, if youre going to use traps on a creature, use them toward the beginning of the fight. bellor gave his macro and trap is at the end. if you do that, you're not getting the maximum effects from your traps and all youre doing is throwing them for the xp.

i find a /trap/bodyshot/warningshot repeat works well for me. but everyone has their own style of play. try some different things and you'll find something that works for you.

I forgot to mention I used wire mesh traps only.

Iwas neglecting this one until i started playing with it and realized how useful it is. I personally like the Sharp Bone Spurs and Noise Makers as they require only bone/hide to craft...which if you are trapping/harvesting should be readily available. When you camp, craft as many traps as you can because you will want to use them...and use them on all creatures. If I am going to attack a critter, i'm starting with a trap and throwing at least 2 if I can. That's less shots I need to get off and helps with the one/two shot kills.

If you use at least 1 trap per creature you will level up in no time...again, the higher level the creature the higher the xp.

Yep.

Prone, mask scent, glow juice, threaten shot, fire away.

If they get close, then bone spur, wire mesh, or noise maker, and melee away.

Makes fights go much faster.
