Well although through the bad nerfs and problems i still love this game. Its kinda like a woman "can't live with em can't live without em". But besides that this is my reason why i play.
Well SWG is basically EVERY star wars game put together. You can actually play or live in the star wars universe and be what you want in your favorite star wars game. It also has a lot of freedom and choice (similar to GTA games)
For example....are you a fan of rouge squadron? or star wars aerial games? You can fly your own ship pilot it around, play with other people and bring down star destroyers!
Sick of playing the good guy rebels? Be the imps and conquer the galaxy!
Did you ever play star wars droid works? (although not that popular of a game) Now you can create your own droids, and sell them to other players!
Never liked jabba? Go and kill his men!
Wanted to fly a millenium falcon? Now you can!
Are you an underworld dealer? become a smuggler!
Ever wanted to run your own restraunt or bar? Sell foods to good people live a good life? And imperial storm troopers busting in on you? Well you can be a chef/TKA! and kick their butts like a Chinese Bruce Lee film!
Don't like ewoks? Cook them with the commando flamethrower!
Don't like Rodians? Well you don't have to! Tell greedo to buzz off with DE-10 pistol!
Ever wanted to know what it was like to meet Mark Hammil??? Well you can't! but you can see a video game version of him and talk to a triggered npc!
Jedi getting you down? Call a bounty hunter for a slight small payment to get it done!
Did you play star wars battlegrounds? Or force commander? Leading troops into battle, building up their stamina and morale? Now you too can be a squad leader leading soldiers into battle!
Have you ever played Gungan Frontier? Where you rebuild naboo with animals and critters? WELL YOU CAN....somewhat... But now you too can create your own pets, from rancors to womp rats, you can build your own farm of creatures, tame them, put on shows, impress your friends with them, ride them, and even send those jawas back where they came from!
Ever wanted to be a tusken raider? Grab a metal rifle, some robes, and run around tatooine barking!
Wanna get a twi'lek for a girlfriend? Go to your local cantina and begin the macking!
Want a zabrak for a boyfriend? Good luck!
Wanna use the force like luke? Now you can!
Wanna be a black zabrak with a double lightsaber like darth maul? Now you too can wield double bladed lightsabers and take on jedi!
Did you like Star wars Jedi academy? Jedi Knight? Jedi outcast? knights of the old republic? Well now you too can decide your fate as a jedi or sith! Throw objects, shoot thunder bolts, be evil or good!
Liked star wars bounty hunter? Think you can hunt bounties faster than Jango fett? Now you too can hunt bounties and smear them with your weapons!
Liked Star wars racing games? Grab a speeder bike, swoop, or land speeder and race to the finish!
Like Star Wars X-wing? Ride the Rebel alliances main assault ship the x wing! Into Speed? Grab that quick lil A wing! Like the defense and power? The Y wing is right for you! Prefer to be mixed up a bit? try the B Wing!
Did you hate star Wars x-Wing? Now you can pilot the empires signature craft, the TIE fighter, or the more quickerTIE interceptor! Like heavy assault? Try the TIE bomber! Liked vaders TIE? Ride the TIE advanced! Can't get enough? Try the TIE defender! (the three winged tie) And with these ships, you can blow the rebel crafts to bits!
Wanna know how it feels to be Obi wan or Qui gon jinn and fight leagues of Battledroids? Become a jedi and go to the death watch bunker!
Wanna know how Anakin felt when trying to save amidala on Geonosis? Well head on down to the Geonosian lab!
Like harrassing aliens? Become a stormtrooper and harrass them all you want!
Wanna be a good guy and convince people that the old republic means truth justice and the last slice of air cake? Then you should side with the rebellion!
You see they're so many reasons why i love this game... You can play every star wars game the way you want....
If their are any games i missed please tell me and i can also show you how swg is just like it....^__^

I like SWG because,
SWG has challenges, not like other Star Wars games you can beat in a day and then throw it off to collect dust, SWG takes a true players, and as you said you get alot of freedom, your able to be Role player, PvE'r, PvP'r or you can just sit back and socialize
Sometimes you can scream in joy over this game others you can sit back and cry over it, but you always love it in the end
Nerfs are bad, but players always get past them and adapt to them.

I love star wars galaxies because of the diversity of the players, there are so many professions - entertainers, fighters, crafters, pilots, medics, etc that there's something for everyone almost so you get a really wide variety of people playing it, it's great meeting interesting new people and chatting - I've made many great friendships in this game and I intend to be here still when the faults are fixed and I will continue enjoying it

For all of its many wrinkles its still a deep game with a lot of diversity. I like the fact that there are so many combat classes built around specific weapon types, that is just cool.

Yay for existing in the Star Wars universe. I wouldn't play any other MMORPG. I swore I'd never play one at all, until I saw my friend had a Star Wars one. So very long ago now ....

I like SWG because...Of the buddies i've met ingame, if it wern't for them theres a good chance i'd have quit by now

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..... I had a life other than SWG...
not sure what it was about... but it doesn't seem to matter anymore anyways...

Great thread!
I remember when I first read about SWG back when I was in UO and SWG was still in early development. I remember thinking WOW, an MMO with Star Wars would be fun.
Years later on the day of launch I finally got to play and it was such an adventure.
I met many new friends too which is always a plus.
I know the game has had it's ups and downs (what MMO doesn't?) but even after trying the new alternatives out there I found myself right back here.
Crafting system is by far the best. Graphics are amazing. The profession/ability system is far more innovative than any level-based game.
And in 2005 we have the combat upgrade, the GCW upgrade, and many other things coming.
Looks like 2005 is the year that the game will really step into it's own and I look forward to it
