Hi guys,

Can you please post your tips for the best PvP specials/combos. Do you create macros? If so, what specials do you use, etc, etc

Please guys, no stuff about broken specials or the fact that we get owned in PvP, I've heard it all before..zzzzzz

Cheers Pistoleeers and Pistolettes.

The best answer I can give is "it depends" hehe. Specials in general, are very situational, and the best special to use for general damage-dealing will change depending on your skill set, your weapon, and so forth. Generally speaking if you have last ditch, use that even if you haven't got a speed enhancement. If you're a "pure" master pistoleer, fanshot will do the most damage without a speed enhancement but is AOE - good in a big battle, bad in a small duel with other targets around. Stopping shot will be good with a speed enhancement and is single target. Health shot 2 hits the health pool and causes a bleed and a high wound chance. PMD1 is a good close-range knockdown.

If you're serious about using pistols for pvp I'd strongly suggest getting the dirty fighting line of smuggler for the specials, and a +16 or better speed SEA (+25 would of course be ideal).

Well, I have the dirty fighting line of Smuggler, but oh well, I'll post my macro

/intimidate

/healthshot1

/healthshot2

/lowblow

/lastditch

/lastditch

/lastditch

after that I use another macro that just loops healthshot2. With a slow gun you might get better damage per second out of bodyshot2. The idea is to intimidate and get them bleeding from the start, knock them down and hit them as hard as possible while down, then tear into the health pool. If they start healing use a random-ham attack to try and hit the mind pool. You could replace /lowblow with /pistolmeleedefense1 but you better be up close when you start the macro... And replace /lastditch with /fanshot or /stoppingshot. You need to tailor your macro to your playing style, skills, and weapons.

As a poster above stated, it is very situational, mind is usually a good pool to hit, with pistoleer, stopping shot is the shot to use to try to hit it. Health shot 2 and 1 will not stack, so go with 2. Bodyshots are weaker in dmg output compared to healthshot 2 since the last changes to it, so not really worth using anymore. PMD2 is a good attack in close range (best dmg in 5m or closer in my experience). If you have ranged support, I alternate posture change with PMD1 then follow up with a PMD2 or stopping shot to take advantage of them being in a vulnerable position. If you have other skills, and can apply state effects, they will help you greatly, blind, stun, intimidate are all great staes to put on them (decreases their defences, accuracy and dmg output). Always be on the move, always stay in yoru ideal range and out of their ideal range. If they are melee, never get closer than 30 m and watch for a burst run (they will use it to try to close on you, so you should cross water to break their burst, or apply a burst run yourself). Best advice, practice and find what works for you. The more you fight, the better you will be able to judge any situation. i do not recommend macros, you shoudl always be re-evalutating the situation and base your tactics on the moment (think of playing chess by planning your next 5 moves, and never re-evalutate your strategy after your opponent moves, guarantees check mate on you if you ignore the opponent and adjust your strategy accordingly).

Cheers guys, very helpful. Is stopping shot a mind pool shot? Are there any others? Also, I do have dirty fighting 1-4 too. Ta.

Every pistoleer special except for body shot 1-3 and healthshot 1-2 is random HAM. The targeted pool for the other shots is always health.

I'd use last ditch shot from smuggler and try like mad to get a +pistol speed skilltape. Stopping shot's nice, but last ditch has a higher damage multiplier and the same delay multiplier, from what tests have shown. At one point stopping shot could actually incap an unbuffed, unarmored opponent in one hit (before damage reduction in pvp and when player armor was mostly broken...) but now it's not really a "stopping" shot, it's a "high damage high delay" shot like last ditch (just not as good).

With +90 or better speed and a decent pistol you should be able to spam either last ditch or stopping shot at the speed cap, and you can really ruin someone's day like that. You have some tactical flexibility - if someone's health pool is going down fast from your last ditch, and they don't seem to be usingheal stims, you can switch to healthshot 2 to target it specifically and probably take them out faster. If they are healing then you're at least a threat to their mind and you want to make them keep having to heal and drain their mindpool more.

Depending on who you're fighting you might want to start with low blow and try to wipe them out up front, or you might want to save the low blow or PMD 1 for when they are hurt already, so that you can finish them off more reliably. The marksman special suppression fire can be useful too.

Note that these are just some basic duelling tactics... you'll need to practice and find out what works for you and why. And don't forget there's always ways to improve your performance through better gear andthe right buffs for your style. You might find other tactics and other shots are superior if you haven't got enough pistol speed or the right weapon.

hmmm most of these posts for PVP specials are largely NON pistoleer specials.... hmmm interesting. I hope some devs read this post, but I always was a fool for hoping in the hopeless.

(that is: it's hopeless to hope that the devs will read this.)

We don't have time to discuss this in a committee.

Three part question for all experienced pvp pistoleers.

1) What specials, including smuggler and bh lines, work well in pvp? I have a buddy that can take down three peeps at one time in pvp using fanshot and low blow, but what else works on single 1 on 1 and like 3 on 1 pvp?

2) I know this is a matter of preference but I am newer to pistols and need advice. Which is the better template, I did read primetimes thread, and it helped but still need a little more help deciding. The two Im torn between is the master pistol/0040 bh combo, and the master pistol, master fencer , dirty fighting and 4003 tk. Does the bh thing really get owned that much in pvp, bcuz of the defense? I seem to do alot of pvp alone and get ganged up on alot, and want to defend myself. lol.

3) what are the best combos of specials to use in pvp?

thnx for the help, any advice would be great for a noob pistoleer!

in my experince not being a bh yet was pistoleer/fencer/rouge i allways used the smuggler specials fpr the simple fact they worked and where better althou if i have 4 people chasing me i just spamed the fanshot at them. rule of thumb learn to kite and learn well. next template is bh rouge pistoleer mind shots and lastditch at speed cap with a geo will be cool

Nah that template sucks, no defenses or mitigation. My friend used to have that when i was a true tripple master and i owned him. But i would do the fencer/tka/smuggler/pistoleer, bh/pistoleer really isnt good. The only advantage is the accuracy and mind hit, you could get pistol speed through tapes and good krayt guns.

Yeah Im really leaning towards the pistol/fencer/rouge combo, only fo rthe defenses. I dont want to overload on food fo rdefense rather save stomach room for brandy and synsteak!

I use lowblow; panicshot; lastditch; lastditch;

the lowblow/panicshot combo will kd delay long enough for the first lastditch if it hits mind or action then I last ditch again if it hits health then I healthshot2/bodyshot2 then last ditch again. Lastditch hits even the best stun comp armor with my krayt geno blaster for about 700 to 800 but its a random ham shot. I've hit mind twice in a row with last ditch and taken an opponenet out quickly and I've hit lastditch on all three stats only to get killed myself
