When i first joined, i was under the impression that you could create 1 char per server on one account with no limits. In my erlier days, i in fact had up to 9 or 10 characters. Currently, I am at 8. I tried creating a character and it wouldn't let me. I contact tech support and they confirmed that the max characters allowed is 8, and this INCLUDES Jedi. So if you have 8 characters now, and you unlock in one of your chars, you might be in some trouble. Just a little notice.

^^^--- Why reading the Instruction Manual before you start playing is always a good idea.

Actually, you can have a total of 11 per account. 8 on live servers and 3 on TC.

Don't you all think it's time SOE relaxed this 1character per account/server rule. Blizzard allows 50 characters per account and up to 10 per server. No wonder they are setting records with WOW.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't WoW like DAoC where you can buy most of the stuff you need from NPC's and you don't have to buy stuff from crafters?
You can't have that many characters here because it would kill the economy because you would be able to be every profession and you wouldn't need to buy anything from anyone because you can make it yourself. There would be no market for crafters because they wouldn't be able to sell anything. It would kill the game for people that do not want to be in combat because credit making would rely solely on missions becuase you can't make money crafting.
If SWG had NPC's that sold everything needed like DAoC was then having 10 characters would work but there isn't. Frankly, I'm glad there isn't. I like how the game economy is ruled by the players and not SOE. It's more immursive to me.

So don't make it a 10 character limit. Limit it too 2 characters per galaxy. That would be just fine, and would't ruin the economy more then it al ready is. SOE is just worried about losing money from people that can afford to pay$15 per month x5.

1 per server INCLUDING jedi slots. That's what the CSR told me. Although last time i read the manual was, oh, in January, so i was under the impression that it was 1 character per server, and you can have 1 char on every server if you wanted

Still 1 per server though, right? without unlocking that is

Wrong, you can have your Jedi and your Main (or Unlocked if post publish 10) on the same server ie. two characters on one server.

Right. You can have 1 per server and then your FS slot also.
But on TC you can have 3 characters on the same server.

Well, the CSR said otherwise. he said including jedi slots. so don't say I'm wrong, say the CSR is wrong.

I agree that this could impact the economy, but honestly I think there would be few people willing to do everything for themselves. I have an alt, Master AS, Master Artisan, Master Merchant, Novice Tailor, and I think I have made a total of three sets of armor for myself. I dont know that too many people would put the time in to do it. For instance if you had a master elite fighter and decided you wanted to make your own armor, you would have to not only grind that prof, but also harvest/buy the good resources you need to get quality armor. I think some people would do it, and probably the ones that do are already doing it with alts, but playing a profession in this game takes some pretty serious commitment. After mastering an elite combat prof you may have some time, but after mastering a crafting profession you would be pretty busy getting the resources and subcomponents you need, adding in factory time. The biggest game breaker for having more than one character per server to me is the lot issue, that could obviously hurt things, but otherwise I dont see where it would be that big of a deal. If anything it would level the economy some, but I dont think you would see any imbalance that doesnt already exist with player alts.
