Am I doing something wrong? I usually like to browse the forums while playing, I can't leave for 5 min without having to relog on to look at anything. Main problem is that the new skin is terrible and I can't even read the forums unless I login and can use my skin that I want

It's a known bug. The devs said a week ago that they are working on it.

They've broken and fixed it before so hopefully they can remember what they did last time to sort it and do it again

Its not broken... inconvenient sometimes yes but not 100% broken

Currently you can stay logged in for up to 200 minutes.

If you close your browser (since it is a secure login as it has to check to see if your subscribed to the game) you WILL have to relog in.

What was happening before is while you did not have to log in every time, people that no longer subscribed orhad been suspended/banned, could still post in the forums until the "forum side" cookie expired.

We are trying to get the "auto login" to function correctly which is the only problem currently, and lithium and our web team are working on this.(not the developers of the game)

Thanks for the explanation GarVa.

But I would still classify as the login being 'broken' when I keep having to enter my password when I tell the forums to save my password. At least make them save the password as ********** and then make you click the submit button. I just hate typing it over and over and over just because I close my browser during the day.

Sorry GarVa, but you can't stay logged into the session for 200 minutes at the moment. It looks to be around 10-15 mins (i've not timed it) and the session ends. I've not closed the browser, and this is happening in IE, firefox and Mozilla.

Here's the rub. If you click a link and open it in a new window (Like viewing another thread or a screenshot), then close that window it kills the session.

Hit CTRL+N
After the window loads, close it
Go back to this page and click refresh

Setting the cookie to expire after 200 minutes is cool but it's set to expire = NOW and reset with a refresh. Spawning windows and closing the window kills that code. The cookie is deleted and it shows as a logoff.

Pretty common "quirk" with the whole session cookie expiration = Now trick for killing sessions when the browser closes. The problem is when the forums create new windows for links or people who like to open more than one window at a time kills the session.

So they broke it on purpose to keep the WoW posters out.

Making it 100x more annoying to the rest of us.

wow, I wonder when the forum upgrade beta will be? :-\

Remember when the forums did this earlier this year? I liked it when I didn't have to log back in every time I left the forums. But this is annoying! :-x

Well I dont really mind having to relogin every so often, what gets me is when for weeks at a time I cant read forum posts! I can login and navigate through the forums and all, but when I try to read the posts of a specific forum all I get is the top of the page and the bottom ofthe page, with no posts in between and that is really annoying ESPECIALLY when I am in the middle of bidding in an auction! I cant even sent PMs when this happens and all people tell me to do is clear my cache and cookies and that does NOTHING!!

I'm experiencing about 5-10 mins and I have to relog. I hope it gets fixed soon as it is very annoying.

Just use another browser than Internet Explorer as every web browser on the planet can save passwords in every type of window except IE.
Try Firefox or Opera to start with.
