Posted on Corbantis, but thought everyone could benifet.

I know I'm just asking for it but....

*Disclaimer! I'm not a perfict, I might have been off on some numbers, I'm fairly confident I'm on the money though. This is a straight cost listing, not counting buffs for guildmates and stuff, blah blah.

So I'm a lonely person, I will do this all by myself.
My Template will be:
Master Doctor
0444 TK
0100 Scout
Novice Artisan

This template will cover the both kinds of meat gathering. I'm sure there's better combos, but this is just off the top of my head. I will also be using a max harvesting mod Droid. Gathering my own meat will get credits in addition to the meats.

I will split my lots up like so:
1 House (Yay! I got for free joining someone's city!)
1 Factory (What? 30k these days?)
8 Harvesters (BER13s What? 100k these days? (2 Fusion, 2 Floral, 1 Gas, 2 chemical, 1 mineral)
Total Costs: ~800k (+100k (50k each)Maint on the House and Factory
(Yes this is alot, but solo leveling TK (not in a group) in Baz Nitches/Quenkers 10 of these missions a day will gather enough for one harvester, if you only do 10.) Okay you might have to do 12 missions if you have to have someone buff you for 15k.

Lets Keep an Eye on SWGCrafters and watch for good spawns!

Maintainence:
BER13 harvesters:
Fusion on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits will get you ~10 days and 93,000 power
Fusion on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits will get you ~10 days and 93,000 power
Mineral on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits/Power will get you ~10 days and 93,000 Dolovite Iron
Chemical on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits/Power will get you ~10 days and 93,000 Tatoonian Fiberplast
Chemcial on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits/Power will get you ~10 days and 93,000 Class 4 Liquid Petro Fuel
Floral on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits/Power will get you ~10 days and 93,000 Lokian Wild Wheat
Floral on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits/Power will get you ~10 days and 93,000 Domesticated Oats
Gas on a 50% yeild: 20k Credits/Power will get you ~10 days and 93,000 Reactive Gas
Total costs:
186k Power (120k used)
160k Credits

Leaving meats. Herb meat is easy to get, there are many big animals with Herb meat, namely Bolles and others. Very simple to gather that. Avian on the other hand can be a pain the the arse to find good stuff. I put my nose to the grind stone while the subcomponents are factorying and I gather 7000 Avian in 3-4 days. Much less if it's spawned on Dathimor or Yavin 4, with the help of a Harvester Droid.

Advanced Chemical Release Duration Mechinism are Experimented on for Power
Advanced Biological Effect Controller are Experimented on for Charges
Advanced Solid Delivery Shell are Experimented on for Power

Turning out a XXX power, ~25 charged Buff pack

You have 1250 Buff Sets here and enough resources to make 5-6 more full sets of 50 packs as soon as you take the time to gather the Avian.

Total costs to make (approx.) = 1,060,000 credits (Unknown Costs: Harvesting Droid + whatever I'm forgetting)

You will earn:

1250 x 15,000 = 18,750,000 credits
1250 x 12,000 = 15,000,000 credits
1250 x 10,000 = 12,500,000 credits
1250 x 6,000 = 7,500,000 credits (Once apon a time)

The Next set of 50 you make will take:
Total Cost: Nothing (you buff yourself, travel by your own ship, maint on the house and factory will still be good, gathering meat)

You will earn:
1250 x 15,000 = 18,750,000 credits
1250 x 12,000 = 15,000,000 credits
1250 x 10,000 = 12,500,000 credits
1250 x 6,000 = 7,500,000 credits (Once apon a time)

The next 4 sets of 50 Buffs will cost you:
(Time to gather the meat)
Total Cost: ~100k Maint on the factory and House

You will earn:
1250 x 15,000 = 18,750,000 credits x4
1250 x 12,000 = 15,000,000 credits x4
1250 x 10,000 = 12,500,000 credits x4
1250 x 6,000 = 7,500,000 credits (Once apon a time) x4

So, in closing, you spent, 1,200,000 credits, and you will make anywhere between:
37,500,000 - 93,750,000 credits

Once you start getting your face out there people will bring you resources for favors, rezzes, healing, buffing, in a greater than cost basis, if you are a personable type.

Now. I only put the harvsters on a 50% spawn. Chemicals quite often will go upto 90%s quite commonly. The only resources I drop on at 50% is Ore. Everything else I would get to a 75-85% before dropping anything. 25 charges on a Buff pack is quite normal with med-good resources, so I under sold everything here........

BE Crafting Cloths are not necessary, if you want to be the best, go for it.
BE Wound Treatment clothing is very cheep.
BE/Chef Food is also not necessary but gives it a bit of a boost as we all know

With the above numbers:
Cost Per Buff Set: 848 credits
Cost Per Single Stat Buff: 142 credits
Resource Per Single Stat Buff: ~260 units

And we pay this much for buffs..... why?

Your points are well made but they dont take into account that good resources arent always freely available as as Docs get more desparate they spend more money on these. Also Avain meat mobs dont always drop a good amount of meat...take Talus for example...avain drops come from Fynocks which arent got from mission terminals and you have to go out a look for wild spawns i spent 3hrs recently and only managed to gather 300units.

Also something to remember that most docs wont just charge you for the cost of the materials but also the time it takes to gather them meat especially also to take into account the prices of meat that have skyrocketed on most servers over the last few months.

But some very valid and good points made

Because of all the time it takes them to gather those resources, craft them & then sit down and buff us.

I honestly have no problem paying 15k for decent buffs as I can earn that back in minutes with the higher stats.

You forgot to add the time involved gathering said resources, and the time involed waiting around at star ports to buff people, you can spend days killing dwarf nunas to get the best avian meat and other goodies, time is as they say money, and you could do exacly the same as you have done here for any crafted item for sale from weapons to armour to houses and factorys, you're paying for peoples time as well as their resourses.

It's all in there, even if you buy meat at 100cpu you will still profit 10million on a pack of 50 of each.

~8000 units needed for a whole set of 50 of each buff pack

8,000,000 credits at 100cpu

Selling buffs are 15k each will get you just shy of 19million...

Nice rundown of the numbers. The buff price hike was all about the demand for it. Im all for upping prices if there is allot of demand for something, but there is one problem with buffs and some other craftable items in swg.

The problem was solo-group missions(Ive heard rumors that they are still possible; have never done one myself so I cant confirm). When you have a way to make a huge amount of credits in a short amount of time which is only done by doing solo-missions, which go against MMO strategy and the code (itsa bug) then everyone else who cant do the solo-group thing are left out without any good way of making money. Those poor individuals then cant buy allot of the good stuff like buffs or armor and nice loot decorations, etc. Doctors are justified for raising prices because their clients (mostly solo-group people)can make allot more money.Scounts andRangers are also in on the deal and charge high.

You either conform to hunting down cave men on dantooine or quit. I would have quit if it wasnt for the combat upgrade coming up soon. At least if those high priced missions were some kind of factional gcw battle, then at least it would make sence. Make more money by getting involved in the GCW, but no, we got to rid dantooine of the cave men!

I know the time it takes to get this stuff, and I mentioned that. And the best places to wait for it to spawn.

There's a big difference in buying a weapon and buying a 2-3 hour lift ticket to Datooine for a hunting trip. How many hours will that weapon last you? Can you repair buffs? Can you log and have them up still a day later?

As I posted here, core RESOURCE requirements and costs are here. Nothing more.

Also something that is definately noticable is the way people follow...you see one doc buffing the same as you for more you think 'hey maybe i could increase my prices'

Apologies if my comments cause offense in anyways as i think that this is a excellent post and definately gives people something to think about. Especially with the apparent 'nerf' of solo groups

EDIT: Almost forgot...5 shiny stars for you

I purchase my buff packs and bivoli from quality vendors. And they dont come that cheap. I break even at about 5 k per buff set, anything over that is basically profit, if you dont count the time I spend buffing people worth anything.I offer my buffs for what the individual considers fair value. If it gets to the point where I can make as much credits actually out enjoying combat, I'll stop buffing.

My main reason for being a Master doctor was because I enjoy helping people. I picked up TKM for self defense. But I find taking on some foe in combat, more fun than sitting in tell hell buffing people. So keep in mind, you're not neccessarily paying for the buff, but for the individual's time and the convenience of having a doc there to buff you, when you are ready for it.

Lets see what price you have to pay to make good buffpacks on Chimaera(this is top notch):

Avian Meat - 300cpu
Reactive Gas - 15cpu

Tatooine Fiberplast - 40cpu
Wild wheat - 5-60cpu

Dolovite Iron - 100cpu
Domesticated Oats - 20-30cpu

Herbivore Meat - 100cpu

Try do your maths again with these prices

Wow, thats some good work there. Of course, docs are going to cite resource prices(because they dont have the time to gather ANYTHING themselves, which is code for "Im an alt character designed to make huge amounts of money for my main, and I just buy everything. What, you expect me to put EFFORT into being a billionaire? Hah!"), and of course, the boredom factor of sitting buffing people for hours on end, which I agree with to a point. Boredom isnt worth a 1000% profit margin, however.
