Thread: Big Game Guide For Soloers
Everybody needs to level up and judging from the polls, a lot of folks wind up doing most of it solo. Everybody sets off on the trial & error journey to find that one or more big game Mob on a planet that gives the most XP (let's say >1k) for the least amount of dying...
Some but not all of the criteria that help a Mob fit this are:
1. Doesn't pack assist (can be single pulled)
2. Isn't extremely fast
3. Doesn't deathblow (so you can screw up a few times)
Now, this thread is in no way implying that MOBS revealed in this thread are exploitable. Most of those issues are gone like extremely slow Tabages/Jax/Kimas, & Biz Natches. You must still must have sound tactics and a good amout of stims but if you are a novice in your elite profession you can still take some of these guys down.
To start out, I will give my choices for Corellia and Talus.
A. Talus
Kimas - (though not 'big' game) They are quick and have a pretty harsh bite, but normal Kimas (not woodland or hilltop) can be single pulled. Warning shot + Peace if it works will often send the kimas running quite a distance away to lick their wounds. If you've put bleeds on them and you time your other moves right you can often take a few down without getting too wounded.
Tortors & Tortor Bulls - They are my favorite big game at the moment. They are so big and shake your screen when they go down. Also, they aren't all over the place (SOE lowered the spawn rate a while back). I get really excited when I come across a spawn because I have gone for days without seeing them. Best start your fight with these guys at the max distance and even better if they are laying down. Bleed + a few targeted special then suppression fire. Most likely you will need to be running by the time you're second targeted shot goes off. MAke sure you have some more specials lined up after suppression in case it works or not. If SF works use the chance to max your distance again. Seriously, if you can run a complete straight line away from these guys during a fight, do it. With the tactic I've mentioned its the best way from keeping them from closing the distance. If they do get close, it only takes a couple of stomps and it's nap time for you. (little tip: Dung mites will attack Tortors if you lead them into a swarm, drawing the Arggo off you...)
B. Corellia
Gronda - Much of the same tactics used as for Tortors. Except I would highly recommend using a heat/acid/cold/stun weapon. They have 50% resists to Energy and Kenetic and are armored.
I now welcome other folks to post MOBs & Respective planets for other big game that fit this criteria.
Kind Regards,
Ovid Delsis
Don't know if it's "big" enough but for mid-level at least:
Yavin IV - Mamien - yellow radar, don't pack assist, don't deathblow.
Snorbals on Lok are pretty good. Last time i went they weren't pack animals... but i heard that may have changed. same tactic as everyone else, bleed, shoot, run (trap) if not dead.
forgot to comment on banthas.
only one kind of bantha does BAF, asjett put it.
look out for the bantha herds with a matriarch in it. i think it's bull banthas/banthas/and one matriarch. so make sure if you're going after those, you take out the matriarch first.
Thanks Rufus102
Can anybody confirm the XP for Dune Banthas? I hear they fit the criteria
Planet, Tatooine.
Mob: Bantha (any type).
Tactic: Start at max distance, hit it with a bleed, start running. They never close the distance and you can run in a circular orbit. Once you kill the first one, you shouldn't be too far from the rest of the herd. They do not BAF.

Yep, take out the matriarchs and yer set.
Others in the herd may charge you but they're bluffing, hehe.
Feral Bantha's are all BAF, btw - only seen them one time running around between wayfar and bestine, havent' gotten missions for them yet (getting level 19 missions atm).

guys i'm looking for something with great exp. the most i ever get is a little over 3k per kill. i'm looking for the best CH exp per kill. right now i was fighting seething bol crushers on dantooine. they are sweet alone cause i can flame them to death in like 3 shots and they give about 560 CH exp which is the most i've ever gotten outside of killing a dark force hunter. the problem is they are social. a pack of 6 rips right thru my GSP and my grand wrix too. i need something of this calibur but not social. any suggestions? low or no flame resists would make it easier.
HeheI almost hesitate to post this but...the best CH xp is really to get some babies, or level 10 or so, pets out (2 of em) and just waste stuff outside cities
It's a grind and a half but you can really crank out some xp with 2 lil pets out, killing every rill/wort/lesser rat etc. in sight hehe.
Mountain and Grizzled dewbacks.
Keep in mind that any discussion of xp is highly subjective. Once you get up around Dif 23 (12-13 boxes filled in pistoleer in my case), feral and dune banthas start giving 1xp, down from nearly 1k. Big game should be better defined as creatures with 4k or higher HAM, ideally 6k or higher. Either that or stagger it.
Tatooine:
Low end: Womp Rats, Mutant Womp Rats, Rogue Bantha, Diseased Bocatt (social, but weak)
Middle: Feral Bantha, Dune Bantha, Dewback, Variegated Womp Rat, Giant Worrt, Squill, Scyk (social, but weak), Dune Lizard (high-mid orlow-high), Bull Bantha (could be treated as High due to the matriarch)
High end:Bantha Matriarch, Grizzled Dewback, Greater Desert Womp Rat, Mountain Dewback, Mountain Worrt
I'm sure there area couple more good ones, and of course other planets as well.
-Corri Agir; Sunrunner
kinda funny, but most of the creatures listed here only give me 1 xp when I kill em. The bull ronto's and bantha matriarch's being the exception. As you level up, the xp you get from these critters goes down, so what one player calls big game, another call a waste of time. My point isn't to make myself into a troll, but to demonstrate that there is a huge range of what can be considered big game depending on the player.
I remember when a desert squill was about 3500 xp for me, now it's 500.
If you really want to see how many ronto's comes out of a lair, I have a screenie that I'll try to get posted somewhere. There were 6 of us out hunting krayts and one of our bounty hunters decided to start shooting rontos and the lair. Ever since this hunt, there has been a joke in the group about going to the "Ronto Graveyard" to shoot krayts.
There were 2 lairs very close to one another and when we were done there was literally close to 100 corpses on the ground. I'm sure that I didn't harvest from all of them, I'm a Bothan and can't see over the top of the ronto corpses. It was like running through a hedge maze. The radar had so many X's on it that you couldn't tell how many there were.
This is more prevalent as you get further out from cities. The further away you are, the more critters there seems to be in the lair. My party took on a razorback lair and a grizzled dewback lair at the same time one night and 8 of us fought for over 1/2 hour before the dewbacks ran out. The razorbacks were still coming. I know this is all off-topic, but since we're in game guides I figured I'd help spread the knowledge.
Now I don't know what people consider big game, but I have come to love finding a Ronto spawn on Tatooine. A spawn of Rontos and Bull Rontos gives me good levelling for quite some time. Here is what I do, keeping in mind that I am a Teras Kasi Novice with only Power 1 and Precision 1 right now.
Rontos are not aggro but will assist their friends. However, they are so darn slow that they will never ever catch up to you. In fact, if you keep running they will eventually lose interest and stop. So I get 64m away from one and fire a shot with a pistol at it. If I pull 1, then great, if I pull more than one I start running. Eventually they will lose interest in catching me as they run about as fast as I do. When I get it so only one is attacking I stop, dig in, and start wacking at it when it approaches on me. A gun user should be able to run in a circle and take these down without ever getting hit. Also, I figure a gun user won't even have to worry about 1-pulling them.
When the thing drops I walk away with 1850ish xp and 40-50 hide/meat (Hunting 4) to sell. I do a lot of exploring so I run around Tatooine a lot. When I run across one of these spawns I stop what I'm doing, get some food and drink, and camp there for a long, long time. The spawns seem so endless. I have yet to totally clear one. It's funny because I'm dying to see what happens when I have the time required to clear it as I'm wondering how much xp the lair is.
