Thread: Which is better for a solo PvE template, accuracy or defense stacking?
Just curious as to which skill give a bigger bang for the buck so to speak without really taking any one template into consideration...
For solo PvE...do a pure melee-stack just like in pre-CU. Master Swordsman with CoB from TK and 4xxx Doctor should be able to handle just about anything in the game. You'll still havesome skillpoints left over to dabble in other melee or healing skills if you so desire. Pikeman has some area attacks and intimidate/warcry, for example.
Personally, I hate melee stacking, but it's pretty much the best way to become a complete "solo artist". Keep in mind though, there are a lot of high-end NPCs in the game now that can virtually one-shot you, so for things like that, you're probably going to need a small group.
Other players have managed to build successful PvE templates with ranged-stacking as well. Carbineer or Rifleman + Master Doctor or even 4xxx Doctor or Combat Medic is a fairly good starting point. Bounty Hunter has pretty good static defenses, plus Duelist stance, notto mentionsome fairly potentspecial attacks. Ranged soloing can take a little more effort because of your weaker defenses, but if you can kite effectively, you may not need to worry about getting hit.
Healing, more than defense or offense is what is important. If you want to solo, you NEED to be able to heal. Defense stacking is no longer what it was pre-CU, so you have to adapt. So long as you have the primary "heal" line from either Doctor or CM, you've already got a pretty solid foundation for soloing. However, for your offense, Swordsman, Carbineer and Rifleman are top of the game right now, I would say. Pikeman isn't too bad either.
Accuracy stacking I think is the least of your concerns though. Focus on Healing, primarily, followedby defensesand you should do fine.

Currently I'm MBH/MCM... However a few marks having me doign 2 attacks and healing once... Just trying to determine which way is best to dabble... I can actually drop MCM to 4000 and still heal the same about... So I've been tryign to determine if it would be better to do more damage and end the fight faster or get better defenses and need to heal less...
Also the new mobs seem to be extremely ressitant to most of my MCM specials now... Not to mention quite a few immunities now to some of my specials... Leaving mostly just the DOT's working and I can't help thinking I can do better damage than those... It seems any mob in which I can easily use MCM specials on... I can kill without the specials just fine.
Though paralyze is nice for mobs to cool the jets of a few.

Well having +25 pistol defense, +23 pistol accuracy, +19 pistol speed pair of gloves already ADK'ed tends to give me a good reason to stay ranged! *wink* However, haivng a very nice set of battle armor does push me towards either MCM or MCarb if I think about switching...
M-Carb + MBH is a solid combo. Add in your Combat Medic healing, and you've got the bases pretty well covered. I suppose with the right gun..pistols could work also. I just know for a fact that Carbs and Rifles do more damage.

Well I seem to disagree with em all.
Accuracy is key now is PvE (which is all I do btw). You see I expect you will be wanting to solo the highest level mobs u can kill. Killing is a matter of hitting and the recent changes have upped the mobs defences alot.
At the extreme typically against an SBD a full template jedi with MLS will miss 1/3 of the time. Each time he misses he looses about 1k of damage against the target. Because the SBD has high ham this will prolong hisbattle significantly - I would say that it is currently impossible for a jedi to solo an SBD without accuracy food.
Players will walk over broken glass bare footed to add 10 points of damage to their attack. Jedi pay squillions for pearls with 10 points more damage. And then they cant hit the target.
Go for accuracy and healing - thats my advice post pub 24.
