Each week, Q-3PO started a thread for you to share game tips with fellow players. Tuesday Tips will continue on with that tradition so be sure to join in and add your helpful tip.

Do you have a little known command you use all the time?

A cool place to visit?

A trick (non-exploit) to getting more out of the game? Share it here.

Pass-Through Assisting

When a group member is in a tough combat situation, there is an easy way to help them out.

Simply target your group member and attack!

Any attack you execute will "pass through" your group-mate and on to strike your group-mate's target. The pass-through assist does require for your group member to have something targeted.

For example, I am in a group with Virrago and GarVa . GarVa comes under heavy attack by a group of creatures. For Virrago and me to "assist" GarVa, GarVa needs to target one of his enemies. Once GarVa has an enemy targeted, we simply need to target GarVa and attack. As a result, all of our attacks will "pass through" GarVa and hit whomever (or whatever) GarVa has targeted.

Do you have a useful tip that you want to share with your fellow Star Wars Galaxies players? E-mail it to SWGTips and if we select the tip we'll post it as the Tuesday Tip and give you the credit! Send us the character name and server you'd like us to include if we post the tip.

Check out last week's tips

Yes just like in EQ2 (actually I played EQ2 a couple of days and found this feature quite quickly because of it). No more typing /assist or assigning keys to macros...

is there any way to make the attack actually damage garva, instead? that would be better.

Or just heal Garva, all agros on him will come to you.

If Garva is Jedi which means doom to die in a group since you can not attack BH coming for him. Also shame on you, you twoturned Garva in

Where is subject btw?

wow that's actually very useful In the heat of battle it's hard to tell what mob is attacking who.
Wow the tiny details you put in this game that no one notices never ceases to amaze me(Unless they patched in this tip/feature in today's patch )

Excellent tip!

This was one of the more useful, yet under used features of the old system. I glad that they made things more streamlined for the CU!

Its a great useful feature (that was there even in CU testing). I've also seen that in some cases if you ahve a mob targeted and hit your heal the Heal will land on the Mobs target.. (which could be you if it is attacking you)

Will this change my 'lookat' target?

So, I target Garva and attack ... do I still have garva targetted after the attack goes off or do I swap over to his target?

This could have limited usefulness if I want to apply state effects, see how much HAM my target has, see what I'm shooting...

No, it will not change your "lookat" target.

Cool.

Does Garva have to actually be in combat, or just have something targeted?

i.e. lets say Garva has a Darth Vador targeted but is wise enough not to have taken a shot at him ... so long as Gava is NOT in combat, could this pass through accidently cause me to attack Darth (lets say I hit shoot instead of heal by mistake)?
