Thread: Tuesday Tips May 31st Armor Break
Here's how I like to do this.
First stun the target, next blind it, then dizzy it, after that I use armor break....finally on to knockdown followed up by my most powerful damage dealing attack that gets multiplied by all of the modifiers.
This will net you the best gain for damage, sometimes you need to apply the state 1-2 times to get it to stick. the higher level a mob is in relation to you the harder it is to get some of these states to stick. At least that is what I have found
States are the key to everything combat related, if in a group of similarly skilled players it pays to talk about who will be applying what state and when beforehand. That way your team combat effort is in concert instead of spamming high damge special moves and wasting action pools. Once you learn to work together more seamlessly you will find that you are much more efficient in managing action pools and force pools should you be lucky enough to be a Jedi.
On that note there are a lot of seemingly broken specials, any word on when we might see some fixes for these?

How can someone claim he is playing the game and yet not know this ?!

isn't this broken if you have the higher levels of it?
No, this ability is working properly. It is a straight number that has been checked.
If I had an idea of what your template was, what weapon you were using, which follow up attacks you used and what your were fighting, I would be happy to look into it further.

Except that the Armor Break specials for Brawler/Swordsman and Jedi Lightsabers are busted at the moment. The lower version of the abilities are actually increasing the damage taken by the target MORE than the improved versions...

Yes, yes.
Also just tried to level up a new character for kicks the other day, and discovered the following:
Scout XP is relying entirely on your combat level to determine the amount you gain when you skin a creature.
That means that, if you're a new character and you're trying to level up Scout, be prepared to grind several hours a day for each box.
So my tip: Don't work on Scout until you're halfway to Master "Something combat related." Or else beg Sony to fix this.
Or group with people on high-level hunts... you'll get around 3-5K scout xp per CL80 mob. You do not even need to fight, just stay grouped and harvest after the fight.

This response is *SO* disheartening. It means that all of the /bug reports have been ignored, as well as posts in the forums.
Seriously TH - why, as a player, should I even bother anymore? Many players have tested this (the respec period helped players test this). So either the Dev's ignore the bugs and don't test them out themselves, or are you trying to tell us that the higher level armor break is *supposed* to be worse than the lower level one?
P.S. A proper manual for this game would help players know what specials are supposed to be doing, as the in-game descriptions are vague at best.

TH you said you have been playing since beta (2002/2003) in the Re:FarStar thread. So how can you not know that Armor Break isn't working?
How can TH say to bring friends to a fight when a couple of players have permanently rooted you even though a jedi can be attacked by 5 BH's with no help from their friends like he said in last weeks tips? Hmmmmm

TH - What we are saying is if you have Armor Break you get like a 45% reduction in your target's defense.
However, once you get Improved Armor Break that percentage drops to like 25 or 30%. It should be either the other way around or the Improved Armor Break should be higher than 45%.

Working as intended please move along. All of the 100's of people who posted that the skill is broke must be wrong because TH said so and the Dev's track record for programming quality code is on display and is currently called the broken combat downgrade.

The effectiveness of the Saber Break specials is reversed, making the basic version BETTER than the improved version currently.

So if this number has been checked to be accurate then why would SonGouki, your Jedi Correspondentcontinue to post that the special is broken?
