Thread: Specially Awarded Badges -- harder than the FSCS

After snooping through the badge stats for Bria, I was sort of bummed.

10 people with memorable personalities?

8 people who are tributes to their profession?

1 person who was an exceptional guide?

Now I like to /examine characters to read their bios, but I've seen one person on my own server with a "memorable personalities" badge, and none of the others. His bio said, "I'm a jerk in RL" and in game he was sitting in an ID tent saying what a pain it was to grind out ID; it was such a stupid class.

I figured the badges were more frequent than what I'd seen, and that the "memorable personality" sitting in front of me was (like the buffbot incident) a less than shining exampleof badge-awarding. But looking at these stats -- 16,000+ characters and only 10 have memorable personalities?

I understand not everyone's a great RPer or helper, but can the badge-givers look a little harder please? Bio-checking is easy to do. Check my bio, strike up a conversation with me about it, and see if my personality is memorable. Check my title and come to me for "help" to see if I'm any good at what my title says I do. Ask questions and see if I guide you.

Please! I want a shot at these badges, and given these stats I'm not sure if I should be sad at the players or at the sneaky peeps who pose as normal PC's and award them.

Well look at it this way, maybe he got his memorable personality award because he is an as$hole? That can be a memorable personality after all.

It's the same way on Kauri. I think since I started playing at launch, I've seen maybe 3 or 4 of the exceptional badges. I've asked a couple of people about the bio badge and they told me that they were basically standing around and got a system message.

I totally agree. I think that this should be a special thing but to have to only have a dozen out of nearly 20,000 just doesn't seem right. Waiting at the starport, I pass time by reading folks info. I've seen, what I think to be anyway, some really creative bios that would be worthy of the badge.

Just my 2 cents.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

A friend was rewarded one on my server, and ironically enough his bio vanished the next day...

Indeed. After the first few months[weeks?] of handing out accolade badges, the events team just... stopped.
They havn't even bothered to include the Accolade badges on the "Badges you have not yet won" list. I fear they have no plans to start handing out these badges again.

Though, it would be nice if they provided alternatives for getting these badges. I don't know how they would get an NPC to hand out "memorable personality", but providing a small quest unique to each profession for the "tribute to their professions", and perhaps a random NPC that will walk up to you and ask you simple questions for the "exceptional guide" badge.
Perhaps that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I got the interesting bio badge in May. So I think that they are still out there giving out badges -the problem though is that there are only so many csrs and there are a lot of players (didn't Pex post this a long time ago). Maybe if they instituted a system where people could recommend other people for these badges. Well, no, nevermind, scratch that - the starports would be filled with "d0oD r3c0m3nd m3 4 10k!"shouts.

Im a Roleplayer, i had my Bio up from day one, im In-Character about all time, except on Guildchat sometimes.

I often got comments from others on how nice it was written...in the beginning, where reading a bio was not scrolling

eternally though badges... (somethingthat is still my favouritepasttiime on shuttle waits)

and i never got a badge.

There are simply no CSR out there who can give badges of this kind.. and if... its totally subjective.

Other from tha badge that a buffbot got, for being outstanding at her profession... but that was an error.

Oop, to be fair there are more exceptional bio badges than the others I mentioned in the opening post -- there are 94. Doing the math in assuming that there were only 16,100 people on Bria (I think it's safe to say there's a number more), even this number which is almost 10 times greater than the other numbers, is just over 1/2 of 1% of the folks.

I know there's a lot of repetitive bios -- "the opposite faction killed my family", "I'm the Galaxy's tallest Ewok" -- but they did say the bio badge would be the most common. .58% is ... not very common.

(Edited because I can't remember to finish my sentences the first time through.)
