Thread: how do you cut down some lag?
undre options in game, turn everything down, on the terrain page, turn off all the checkboxes.
doing all those will make your game play much much faster.
Upgrading to, or playing the game ona faster CPU. Most of the time, lag is due to low ram, low bandwidth or low processing speed. Turning the options down can help some, though.
This won't always work for obvious reasons, but when running through crowded cities where you just want to get from one building to antoher a good trick is to tilt your view up to look at the sky. Turn on your overhead map and navigate that way, but it'll cut down on the number of objects that get rendered on your box because you won't be able to see them with your view tilted that way. When I had lower memory, this worked pretty good for me.

That does work quite nicely, i tend to look at the floor though and look down on my character from above, kinda god like view really

Try disabling the vertex shaders in the game options when in the launchpad. I had tons of lag untill I turned it off and now lag is almost gone compleatly.
I did that as well but in some area the computer just went to knees. Not sure if it were Kashyyk or Lok Space. So if the above doesn't work change the vertex shader version from 2.0 to either 1.1 or 1.2. I got the best result from 1.1.
to cut down lag here are some ways.
1)shut down anything running on the desktop aka msn,icq stuff like that.
2)Before hitting the play button in the launch pad go to game options and play with the settings there.
3)During gameplay turn off background music, and lower any of the terrian detail to either off or min(halfway or lower), also turn off glow, bloom and lower the view range in options.
4)lower anything else in the option area ingame and then quit and restart the game completely so that changes take effect
5)if all fails then update computer and internet services.
