Hereis an introduction anda step-by-step guide on how to make a clicky on the SWG forums.
Introduction
1a. What is a clicky?
A clicky is a link, hyperlink, Web link, used to connect one Web source to another. Most often on the SWG boards it is used as a link to another thread, ascreenshot, or a SWG related article.
1b. Why a clicky?
Clickys make it simple to instantly access the destination source instead of having to copy and paste the articleto your address bar. It also allows you to keep the primary page up while investigating the source of interest.
Where notto make a clicky
2a.Clickys are very, very easy to make but often elude people in the knowledge of how to make one or where to start.
2b. Clickys cannot be made from theGraphical Editor. The Graphical Editor is that black box window you typeinwhen you hit Reply or New Message. This is what often causes the confusion in making a clicky.
How and where to make a clicky
3a. The first place you want to start is to select the option that says "Edit As HTML" at the bottom of the typing box (the Graphical Editor). This will bring up awhite-boxed window. Here you will see all the parameters of the text you are typing. For example, if you have quoted someone, you will see the parameters saying <"Blockqoute"> surrounding the quoted text.
3b. The next thing you want to do is have your destination source, or what youre linking to. The thing you want to link to. For this excercise I will use SWG's main page: http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com.Make sure you have the correct link or you will get an error page when someone hits your clicky.
3c. After that, you want to set up your anchor and install what youre linking to in between the anchors. The anchors is what creates the clicky. The parameters for a clicky are very simple. It is as follows:
(a href="the link")clicky or whatever text you want(/a)
note: make sure you subsitute theparenthesis for< and >in the appropriate fashion because I cant use the arrows in my example here
So in the end what you have is a clicky
Well, hope this all helpsin your future clickys
