Hi, right now I can't play since my ISP is acting up, so I've been thinking of questions I've wanted to ask.

1.)If I buy one of those cheap storm troopers, are they equivalent to the NPC stormtroopers?

2.)People keep telling me not to be overt since im new, but the guy that keeps killing me, I get the feeling that he would still kill me if I wasn't new and a newbie, he just was manhandling everything left to right, so I figure that would happen regardless.

3.)I see people playing 8-12K for buffs, and I hear people say that the best way to get exp is to get buffed and go killing things, but, I'm only making 1200 for every 2 missions, is a 3 hour buff going to pay off in the end?

4.)Regarding the former question, I wanted to make my own buffs, but my novice marksman, novice medic, can't really make anything. I'm going mostly solo, and I don't know where to get inorganic materials. Personal harvesters cost alot, and require fees after initial purchase. Should I just not be a medic too? Or am I missing something.

5.)My first guy is a Zabrak, I'm at 3-0-0-2 marskman, 0-0-0-0 medic, but I'm shooting for 4-0-0-4 marksman, master rifleman, master medic, master doctor. I calculated it and I think it all fits, anyways is this a alright build? or is there a cookie cutter build that will be easier for me until I get the skill to play on harder builds.

6.)I have 512 ram, and a mx440 64 mb card, is it my graphics card that makes me go slow sometimes? Which is what I'm thinking, my question is, at what line do graphics cards start making slowing down a minimal factor. (Like at Radeon 9700's +, or Ti4200's +, etc.) I know this question is off topic, but since I'm already here.

7.)What are the best pet's I can get under CL10? Or does it all vary from who I'm buying it from?

8.)How did you guysmake a break for wealth? At my rate at the end of this month I'll have 60K, I don't know if my ambition isn't strong enough, or I just don't know how to do it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

And to anyone who happens to respond to this post, thanks a bunch, I appreciate the time you spend helping me.

2.)People keep telling me not to be overt since im new, but the guy that keeps killing me, I get the feeling that he would still kill me if I wasn't new and a newbie, he just was manhandling everything left to right, so I figure that would happen regardless. do not go overt until you are skilled in pvping- practice instead with lots of duels against other players

3.)I see people playing 8-12K for buffs, and I hear people say that the best way to get exp is to get buffed and go killing things, but, I'm only making 1200 for every 2 missions, is a 3 hour buff going to pay off in the end? it's very worth it, but if you want quick cash i recommend you doing some of the easy missions in the theme parks or wherever and selling your junk- wouldnt also hurt to join a newbie guild

Or am I missing something. only doctors can buff themselves and others but at a cost of high resources and money, so im saying you should just stick with the medic for right now so you can heal yourself

5.)My first guy is a Zabrak, I'm at 3-0-0-2 marskman, 0-0-0-0 medic, but I'm shooting for 4-0-0-4 marksman, master rifleman, master medic, master doctor. I calculated it and I think it all fits, anyways is this a alright build? or is there a cookie cutter build that will be easier for me until I get the skill to play on harder builds. that's actually one of the most common templates and a great way to begin your game as it will teach you patience and let you try out other professions later once you are tired of using rifle/medic

6.)I have 512 ram, and a mx440 64 mb card, is it my graphics card that makes me go slow sometimes? Which is what I'm thinking, my question is, at what line do graphics cards start making slowing down a minimal factor. (Like at Radeon 9700's +, or Ti4200's +, etc.) I know this question is off topic, but since I'm already here. im not a big techie person- better let someone else answer this

7.)What are the best pet's I can get under CL10? Or does it all vary from who I'm buying it from? it varies between the Bio Engineers- i would recommend maybe a cupa or bantha for now- at least get one you can mount in case you dont have enough money to pay for your vehicle repairs

8.)How did you guysmake a break for wealth? At my rate at the end of this month I'll have 60K, I don't know if my ambition isn't strong enough, or I just don't know how to do it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. my break was the holocrons that were given in december, i sold both of the ones i was given for 500k so that gave me 1 million and finally started on my way into the game, before i was dirt poor, so as i had said earlier you should find a mission that gives you a reward that many people want in this game- so i recommend you going to the bestine capitol on tatooine when voting time comes and vote for either of the two canditates, sean usually has better stuff because victor has HARD missions, anyway sean can give i think a painting and a rug which are VERY valuable

I find that the NPC's are more or less useless. It's pointless to waste fp on them unless you really need a sheild

2.)People keep telling me not to be overt since im new, but the guy that keeps killing me, I get the feeling that he would still kill me if I wasn't new and a newbie, he just was manhandling everything left to right, so I figure that would happen regardless.

If your a newb, it's not good to go overt, i'm been playing since launch and still am horrible in PvP, no real penalties for dying in PvP...so it's up to you.

3.)I see people playing 8-12K for buffs, and I hear people say that the best way to get exp is to get buffed and go killing things, but, I'm only making 1200 for every 2 missions, is a 3 hour buff going to pay off in the end?

Buffs are worth it, I know i can make almost 500k in the 3 hours running missions. Don't bother with buffs into you try to get a novice in an elite class, because you won't make good money till then

You have to be a Doctor to make sure own buffs, it's not worth it unless you want to be a mostly support character. Personal harvestors

Seems like a good build. Only problem is all will go through your mind pool, so you may have trouble if you try to heal yourself and use rifleman specials.

Well, i have 512 ram and a 128 mb card and I still get lag. It's probably a little of both, more memory and a better card would increase your game performance.

7.)What are the best pet's I can get under CL10? Or does it all vary from who I'm buying it from?

Can't help you there, haven't used a pet since the nerf.

8.)How did you guysmake a break for wealth? At my rate at the end of this month I'll have 60K, I don't know if my ambition isn't strong enough, or I just don't know how to do it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

The best thing to do is to either do some service to get alot of creds (crafting, buffer, smuggler) and you'll make alot of money quickly. As a smuggler, i've made over a million credits in an hour or two slicing for people. Otherwise, get a good combat template and do high level missions with good buffs and armor. You could make a few hundred k an hour.

And to anyone who happens to respond to this post, thanks a bunch, I appreciate the time you spend helping me.

He is probably killing you because you have the trooper with you and he is Rebel. Don't go overt until you have mastered at least one elite profession (ex. Bounty Hunter, Teras Kasi, Swordsman, etc.)

3.)I see people playing 8-12K for buffs, and I hear people say that the best way to get exp is to get buffed and go killing things, but, I'm only making 1200 for every 2 missions, is a 3 hour buff going to pay off in the end? If you are with a group that is doing missions and is a pretty good group, and you work for 3 hours or so, it will pay off.

Harvestors can cost around 500 credits for personal (look on bazaar). You need to be a good doctor to craft them and apply them to people. You need to be an artisan to get inorganic materials. Buy a surveying device (bazaar) and survey for the right resources. Or you could buy them.

This is not too bad. You have a good combat profession with doctor, so that's good. To master medic, do in groups and heal people when they need it.

You might be going slow because of a slow internet connection, or because you are in a heavily populated city, like Theed or Coronet. Otherwise, it is your video card.

7.)What are the best pet's I can get under CL10? Or does it all vary from who I'm buying it from? It does not matter who you are buying them from, but it must be froma Creature Handler or Bio Engineer. There aren't too many great pets under level 10 I know of.

8.)How did you guysmake a break for wealth? At my rate at the end of this month I'll have 60K, I don't know if my ambition isn't strong enough, or I just don't know how to do it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Find something worth a lot (like a holo - holos will drop off stormtroopers. Go to the Weapons Development Facility at the night time and you will most likely finda group. Ask people there if you can have one or have one if you loot one. Ask to group with the people there and loot before they can. Holocrons (if you don't know, they tell you 4 of the 5 professions you need to become a jedi) can sell from 100k-400k now depending on the server and buyer.

And to anyone who happens to respond to this post, thanks a bunch, I appreciate the time you spend helping me.
Good luck with the game.

1.) Its a waste to buy those troopers. They go down very quick in combat.

2.)Don't go overt until you are VERY skilled in Player Vs. Player. If you think because you are awesome at killing creatures too, it is totally different against a real player.

3.)Its a waste a money at the level of skill you are at. People that are buffing are doing missions that pay 20-40k credits per mission, or are going against extremely Creatures in hopes of getting good loot, or PvPing.

4.)If you are going to be a doctor, you will absolutely have to get your own harvestors. Start small though, upgrade when you could afford them to better ones.

5.)That is an extremely good template you have thought of.

6.)512mb ram is the MINIMUM, i would at least use 1GB ram. I would upgrade your video card if geting more RAM doesn't solve your problems.

7.)No good pets under CL10 really. Plus when you get to Master Rifleman, you don't need them.

8.)To make some good money, I would suggest picking up Novice Scout. Then check your Trade Forum for whichever server you are on. You will always find Doctors, Armorsmiths, Combat Meds, etc offering money for Meat, Hides, Bone etc.........(not unusual for a Doctor to pay 100cpu for awesome Avian Meat), then go to that planet and do missions for those creatures. You not only make money doing the missions, you could sell what you harvest then also.

1) Don't waste your faction points on them, they may seem useful but they die pretty quick.

2) Only go overt if you're buffed, and I would highly reccomend a set of armor as well. To help you get the hang for PVP'ing, try finding some other people from your faction that are doing a raid or defending the city and joining in with them; That way, you won't have to take the brunt of the attack, but you can still help a little.

3) Buffs are definitely worth it. With the level of missions you're doing at the moment you may not see the advantage of it, but once you get higher up in your skills and start doing larger missions (You can get missions that pay 32k each on Dantooine!) you'll see that they are well worth the money.

4) You can't make buff packs until you're a doctor, and even then they are difficult to make. They require a lot of time and planning, as well as plenty of cash or time to gather all the resources. Doctor is a very worthwhile profession, but when I was one I just bought buff packs from medical vendors.

5) That is a great build, you'll be able to tear just about anything in the game apart. It's also one of the most common builds.

6) Sounds like you have somewhat the same set up as me...I would reccomend setting all your graphics options to a low level. If you prefer high graphics settings, just suck it up and deal with it!

7) It definitely varies with who you buy from. Do a lot of research before you spend any money on a pet. Like someone said earlier, try to get a Cupa or a Bantha so that you can mount them if you aren't able to pay vehicle repair costs.

8) My first break was at Fort Tusken...looted a +7 rifle speed armor attachment. Loots are a great way to make cash, but they require a lot of luck. If you want a surefire way to get money, head to Dantooine and join a solo group. A solo group is a group that is formed in order for the players to get higher level difficulty missions, but then head out on their own and reap all the rewards from the missions. In a solo group on Dantooine, you can easily pull Mokk Shaman missions, which will pay 32k a piece and are quite easy to complete. However, I wouldn't recommend it until you get yourself some armor (70% kinetic ubese armor is fine, they'll run you about 75-100k for a full set on Eclipse) and some higher skills. Make sure you have buffs as well!

Good luck, and feel free to PM me with any more questions!

I do not share the same opinions of the above posters.....

Trabajaba wrote:

Hi, right now I can't play since my ISP is acting up, so I've been thinking of questions I've wanted to ask.

1.)If I buy one of those cheap storm troopers, are they equivalent to the NPC stormtroopers?

NO...and NO again... There are many different levels of NPC stormtroopers all with different resists. The ones you can acquire are fairly low level help, and generally considered as not of much value.

2.)People keep telling me not to be overt since im new, but the guy that keeps killing me, I get the feeling that he would still kill me if I wasn't new and a newbie, he just was manhandling everything left to right, so I figure that would happen regardless. Go overt. Have some fun. Expect to die a lot. It really does add to the game. Read up on several of the GCW posts on PVP. Don't carry anything on you that you don't want to lose. Your items will decay so I'd leave off the new armor and weapons you just bought (you will still die if you have them). Just do it for fun....nothing to be scared of...

3.)I see people playing 8-12K for buffs, and I hear people say that the best way to get exp is to get buffed and go killing things, but, I'm only making 1200 for every 2 missions, is a 3 hour buff going to pay off in the end? NO....Not really.... Since you are starting out, i would recommend joining a large group (not a solo group) and hunt with the pack. You won't need buffs and most likely will not die too much. As you progress, get the buffs, join a solo group and hunt or stay with the pack... Someone else said join a guild....that was good advice... Join and leave a few guilds in fact... the better guilds will welcome you back and you will see the differences between them. I could go on a rant here on guilds, but just try a lot out and figure out what works best for you.

I'd wait on making your own buffs...it's a fairly daunting task for new crafters to make *quality* buffs. It takes a lot of resources and time...not to mention the skillpoints required... Medic is good for healing yourself since you can use stims...

Sure..this is a good template. there are lots of master doc / msater riflemen around...in fact, I would recommend trying CM instead of doc...they are very strong in PVP right now...but doc/rifleis a good combo for pvp and pve.. Before you get locked in, I would recommend at least trying a few boxes in each novice profession to get a taste of each one...they are usually easy and fun to do and don't take a lot of time.

6.)I have 512 ram, and a mx440 64 mb card, is it my graphics card that makes me go slow sometimes? Which is what I'm thinking, my question is, at what line do graphics cards start making slowing down a minimal factor. (Like at Radeon 9700's +, or Ti4200's +, etc.) I know this question is off topic, but since I'm already here..you hit on the two of the big factors in game speed.... memory and video card. The easiest thing you can do is add more ram. If that is not possible, get the best videocard that you are willing to pay for... The last year models are perfectly good cards that only run slightly slower than the latest crop and you save a lot of cash..

7.)What are the best pet's I can get under CL10? Or does it all vary from who I'm buying it from?. It matters a LOT who you are buying it from. Most bio-engineers are grinders and make junk pets not worth 1 credit. Any bio-engineer worth his title can make at least a 5k/1k/1k (Health/Action/Mind) pet......very useful... It might not have any damage 30-50, but will be able to take punishment and help you solo. Also invest in pet stims and buy 2 pets instead of one so you can swap them out... The other response of getting a cupa or bantha was ok advice... The skin only affects the speed of the pet and if it is mountable or not. Cupa is good because it is quick when you ride it and the bantha is good for looks (quite large). For the second pet, I would recommend a razor cat..the fastest attacker out there. Don'f forget that when you buy your bio pet, it will be a baby, need training by a master ch and need several days to be a full grown creature..Ask MCH's who the good bio-engineers are...they usually know..

You didn't ask, and I'm a bit suprised that the other posters did not mention droids.... With the recent update, droids are a good companion for fighting just as much as pets are (that's a different debate-but i'd get one and find out what you like).

8.)How did you guysmake a break for wealth? At my rate at the end of this month I'll have 60K, I don't know if my ambition isn't strong enough, or I just don't know how to do it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated..The first 100k is the hardest... For some reason, that barrier takes a while to reach and after you break it, the credits come in. I believe it is a factor of experience playing...but im not sure. Easy ways to make credits are to mine resources and pick up some scout skills...sell the meat for the going rate on your server.. Don't depend on luck...

And to anyone who happens to respond to this post, thanks a bunch, I appreciate the time you spend helping me.

Sorry to completely contradict the posts above......but you ask a question on the forums and get 100 opinions and lots of noise.... welcome to swg.
