Thread: A few questions from a relatively new player.

Hi, right now I can't play since my ISP is acting up, so I've been thinking of questions I've wanted to ask.
1.)If I buy one of those cheap storm troopers, are they equivalent to the NPC stormtroopers?
2.)People keep telling me not to be overt since im new, but the guy that keeps killing me, I get the feeling that he would still kill me if I wasn't new and a newbie, he just was manhandling everything left to right, so I figure that would happen regardless.
3.)I see people playing 8-12K for buffs, and I hear people say that the best way to get exp is to get buffed and go killing things, but, I'm only making 1200 for every 2 missions, is a 3 hour buff going to pay off in the end?
4.)Regarding the former question, I wanted to make my own buffs, but my novice marksman, novice medic, can't really make anything. I'm going mostly solo, and I don't know where to get inorganic materials. Personal harvesters cost alot, and require fees after initial purchase. Should I just not be a medic too? Or am I missing something.
5.)My first guy is a Zabrak, I'm at 3-0-0-2 marskman, 0-0-0-0 medic, but I'm shooting for 4-0-0-4 marksman, master rifleman, master medic, master doctor. I calculated it and I think it all fits, anyways is this a alright build? or is there a cookie cutter build that will be easier for me until I get the skill to play on harder builds.
6.)I have 512 ram, and a mx440 64 mb card, is it my graphics card that makes me go slow sometimes? Which is what I'm thinking, my question is, at what line do graphics cards start making slowing down a minimal factor. (Like at Radeon 9700's +, or Ti4200's +, etc.) I know this question is off topic, but since I'm already here.
7.)What are the best pet's I can get under CL10? Or does it all vary from who I'm buying it from?
8.)How did you guysmake a break for wealth? At my rate at the end of this month I'll have 60K, I don't know if my ambition isn't strong enough, or I just don't know how to do it. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
And to anyone who happens to respond to this post, thanks a bunch, I appreciate the time you spend helping me.
1) Don't waste your faction points on them, they may seem useful but they die pretty quick.
2) Only go overt if you're buffed, and I would highly reccomend a set of armor as well. To help you get the hang for PVP'ing, try finding some other people from your faction that are doing a raid or defending the city and joining in with them; That way, you won't have to take the brunt of the attack, but you can still help a little.
3) Buffs are definitely worth it. With the level of missions you're doing at the moment you may not see the advantage of it, but once you get higher up in your skills and start doing larger missions (You can get missions that pay 32k each on Dantooine!) you'll see that they are well worth the money.
4) You can't make buff packs until you're a doctor, and even then they are difficult to make. They require a lot of time and planning, as well as plenty of cash or time to gather all the resources. Doctor is a very worthwhile profession, but when I was one I just bought buff packs from medical vendors.
5) That is a great build, you'll be able to tear just about anything in the game apart. It's also one of the most common builds.
6) Sounds like you have somewhat the same set up as me...I would reccomend setting all your graphics options to a low level. If you prefer high graphics settings, just suck it up and deal with it! ![]()
7) It definitely varies with who you buy from. Do a lot of research before you spend any money on a pet. Like someone said earlier, try to get a Cupa or a Bantha so that you can mount them if you aren't able to pay vehicle repair costs.
8) My first break was at Fort Tusken...looted a +7 rifle speed armor attachment. Loots are a great way to make cash, but they require a lot of luck. If you want a surefire way to get money, head to Dantooine and join a solo group. A solo group is a group that is formed in order for the players to get higher level difficulty missions, but then head out on their own and reap all the rewards from the missions. In a solo group on Dantooine, you can easily pull Mokk Shaman missions, which will pay 32k a piece and are quite easy to complete. However, I wouldn't recommend it until you get yourself some armor (70% kinetic ubese armor is fine, they'll run you about 75-100k for a full set on Eclipse) and some higher skills. Make sure you have buffs as well!
Good luck, and feel free to PM me with any more questions! ![]()
