Thread: I didn't grind under the old system. Why am I not in the same group as the grinders!?
If 2 people that are both playing equal amounts, one hunts, talks to people runs missions. Just plays the game, and the other just grinds professions, NEITHER should have an advantage over the other. (This applies after they said they were revamping the jedi system to a quest based system)
Then you had a choice, continue to grind and hope to unlock, or wait for the quest and unlock. No one forced you to continue grinding. You took a choice, your choice didn't pan out. Thats not other peoples fault, thats your own bad luck. Now, why should people that spend just as much time/effort/money to play a game be put on a "waiting list" because of your choices/bad luck.
It should all be random. Yes, give the grinders credit for the grind, give them the exp. But DON'T give them priority clearance over everyone else. (does not apply to people that unlocked between 9-10)
People defending the grind make it seem like it was such an incredibly hard thing to do. Its time consuming, but it's not hard. Your getting credit for time spent, by not having to run quests (which will take time). You don't deserve special treatment on being able to start the quests.

You are correct. However, the rest of your logic is flawed. People KNEW how to complete the old system, yet chose not to. Why would you expect to be in the same place as the grinders, who worked under the old rules to achieve it?
Doesn't the "we all pay $15 a month" excuse get old? Under that logic, I want 10 flawless Krayt pearls. I didn't work for them, I actually PLAYED the game while those guys were Krayt hunting!
You are comparing Apples to Oranges here.
the OLD System had no 'Force Sensitivity' abilities. The new one does.
I still have zero interest in being a Jedi, but in order to compete I will need to be Force Sensitive.
The grinders get this handed to them for abusing the system, contributing nothing to the game or the players around them.
I get screwed for making the game better for everyone by doing my job(s)?
Why was no consideration given for those who Served their Time as a Master Craftsman or whatnotfor 9-12 months?
We didn't take the easy hol-grinding way out - we played the game as intended.

Best post I've seen yet on this topic. I'm sick of hologrinders making it sound like they were the only ones doing anything.
For what it's worth, my first holo said "Tailor" and I said "p!ss off". I then continued to play a role and explore the game the way I wanted to, rather than sitting in a house running a crafting macro or dancing AFK in a cantina while I slept. Still, when I logged in this morning I was glowing... so I guess there's more than one way to go about it. ![]()
To the hologrinders who feel that they are somehow superior to the rest, or that they were "working" while we were all "goofing off", I'd like to note some things:
1) If you feel like you were working, you're doing something wrong. This is a game. Repeat it aloud as many times as it takes until you realize this.
2) If you're not having fun while playing a game, then you're doing something wrong.
3) While you ran your crafting macro, I explored the galaxy. While you danced AFK in Coronet Cantina and ran your macro asking for tips and invites, I did the theme parks. While you did "x" professions because a little blue box told you to, I did eight that I enjoyed and wanted to explore. And while you spent your time complaining because you weren't going to get all the professions done in time, I became the Hero of Tatooine.
The idea behind unlocking was to reward people who experienced a wide variety of what the game has to offer. Now tell me again - which one of us really did that?

Did all that plus 32 professions - 103 badges total (only missing 5 corvette and 3 racetrack) - and had a blast doing it
Hero of Tatooine isn't really all that hard - just takes time and patience, kind of like a...hologrinder!!! Although I bet you were skipping and dancing through the desert looking for a Moisture Farmer and praising the Devs for their immense foresight in providing all this rich content for you.
rug swept from under there feet. I'm weary that the jedi system will change again, once im near becoming a jedi. If i did grind, and recieved no credit, i would be mega-pissed. They told people what to do in order to become fs, then they changed it . I have no prob with them getting extra credit, i dont like how soe has chosen to do so however. I'll be playing other games til the old man is available to me. (I glow).

It's not about grinders feeling superior to those who didn't. I'm not sure anyone here even hinted at that conclusion. What it is about, very simply, is that hologrinding was the system in place to achieve Jedi. At one time, those that didn't hologrind made the decision to not hologrind knowing full well it would *not* lead to Jedi. For whatever reason -- you felt the system was horked, you didn't like the holo professions you were given -- it doesn't matter. You chose not to hologrind, period. Now, you want credit like those who did choose hologrinding. You don't see a problem with that line of reasoning?
What it boils down to is you want the reward for a system that you didn't participate in, and that's simply not how things work.
