Will we ever see player character bounties?

BecauseI was thinking of putting in the effort to become a bounty hunter. But after thinking about it,I realize that it might take up to a year to become a master bountie hunter. Now, if the only bounties will be on NPCs,I can't realy see whyI or anyone would invest so muchtime to become a bounty hunter if they can not take bounties on player characters.

So eventualy, not right away maybe 3-5 mounths from now, will we see player character bounties or not?

This is a hot dicussion on the bounty hunter boards, but i thought i'd bring it here, so possible a dev will reply.

The only way I see players bounty being implimented is as follows:
Only people who declare themselves open to pvper can have one put on his head, another words the person has to be an overt
Since theres only a dozen or so overts per server, your going to be doing bounties on the same people over and over and over and over

Therefor systems flawed

SWG has a very stale pvper system, it needs some stuff put in it to live'n it up.I don't thinkplayer bounties would be one of them.

The only problem with player bounty hunting is a player must "agree" to combat with you, unless in one of the automatic pvp areas. That was one of the pvp betatesters main complaints and downing of the game, the pvp portion of the game is pretty light sided, it's more geared toward lite pvp except for certain areas, which for most people is a good thing, griefing would abound if players could kill other players on sight, that was a big problem in Ultima Online, Everquest had its own individual pvp servers, perhaps they will create one of those later on, I think that would satisfy the pvpers and those that want to be bounty hunters.

why not just make it Extremly expensive for someone to take a bounty out on someone else. the only way a bh can kill the person is if they have an active bounty on their head and accepted by a bounty hunter.

when the BH kills the person, the bounty is wiped away, BH paid and the person who was slain loses no or very little xp.

I think if you can't have actual fun being a BH, what's the point.

They could implement it if they wanted to.

Also, what if the only way you could take a bounty on someone is if they had really low faction with a faction you were in?

From discussion on the beta boards, player bounties will eventually make into the game. A player can have a bounty placed on him for failing certain missions, meaning you can now be attacked by the person who is hunting you wheter you like it or not. Much like a covert faction member getting TEF'd and becoming attackable.

If you want to be a bounty hunter join bloodfin server ...

Contracts should be able to be purchased for the head of any "overt status" player of an oppisate faction to your own.

In otherwords If I wish, as a covert or overt player for the rebels, I can purchase a contract for the head of an overt imperial named (whatever). Said bounty hunters then should be able to take the contract then as long as they work for the like factions.

As I understood it, Bounty Hunting players was only on smugglers who failed their routes....but maybe it will be on overt targets as well? And I assume if your faction was high for the empire and low for the rebels, yoiu'd only get rebel targets. And you'd have to get them when they were in zones that you can free pvp.....or as I understood it, a target gets a message that s/he is a target and you will probably be pvp'able anywhere at this point.

What would be really an interesting twist is that the player bountyoption were made available. an interesting idea for it is as follows.

PLayer reaches acertain status as a bounty hunter. He begins taking jobs from other "bosses" and some of them are varieing degree's of difficulty by the time the bounty huntercomes around many players will ahve a network of friends much like Han Solo had and some of those friends will go to great lengths to protect them thus making it very difficult for the bounty hunter toaquire his "mark".

What could be then possible or would be a great option is once the player bounty has been accepted the bounty hunter getsthe ability toignore the other players exception to choose to accept a fight. Thus giving them the ability to attack the bounty hunter in return. the down side is that this makes it possible for the bounty hunter to be atacked with out consent as well by not only the "mark" but the "mark's" allies or friends.

Thus the hunt is on and it ensue's which makes it very workable and playable. Once a mission is completedand the "Mark" captured or the Bounty hunter killed thenthe restrictions are back in place until a new bounty hunter accepts the mission again or until the "Mark" gets off the list somehow. Thre should be some form of status ranking as well so a famed bounty hunter gets kudo's.

This would bring a great element to the game. Imagine being ona world minding your own business in a Canteena and you suddenly get attacked from the wookie across the room who has been eyeballing you since he came in.

That would be fun.

It's not like you are going to die anyways.

Besides Bounty Hunters should be able to get extra credits and recognition for bounty on Jedi!

I know I know Blasphemy....

I would like to see open PvP for BH, but it would be tough to determine such things as: "What if the player logs off every time the bounty is put on their head and/or a hunter is on their back?" and "What if the player has to go, not wants to, and has to log off or their parents might get angry? (haha)"

Plus you shouldn't only be able to hunt people of the other faction. If a person of neutral, other faction or yours puts a bounty on the head of it's own faction, such as if someone was harboring weapons to Imps if you were Reb, you should be able to hunt that person.

I think if the player bounty system is enacted the BH should be open game to everyone, just not overtly. That would make the profession more dangerous, and keepingyourBH'sidentity secret would be imperative.

Funny thing is that everyone I run into plans on playing a Bounty Hunter. I suspect I may be the only player (besides my wife) who isn't planning on being MastaBountyHunta01. Guess that means that the few artisans and medics should eventually have a lot of customers.

I agree, but what we want and what happens may be different. I remember reading that if HArry Smith gets a bounty on Janie Jones, Janie gets a message saying Harry is coming. I could be wrong.
