Wow, some actual information here, and I quote the object description: "...Fixing a broken datapad simply requires connecting all the parts to the datapad housing".
Folks, looks like it works just like a loot kit!
Thank you very much, NectroFirerunner!
Any idea exactly what those "parts" are?

Yup,
You can read the text for yourself if you click on the clicky. On some browsers the browser automatically zooms down the picture, which can make the text unreadable. Then (on internet exploder) you have to click on the picture and push on the icon on the lower right corner of the picture, showing a rectangle with four arrows. That will de-zoom the picture to 1:1.
OK, to list the parts:
- Datapad Battery
- Datapad Backlight
- Datapad connectors (one or more parts, anyone?)
- a broken Datapad
Cheers! Now this is getting interesting.

Not sure if it true but the only 2 tanned hide sch. i found came from a tusken warlord, killed bout 10 before i got my first one.
I spent a couple of hours killing Tuskens last night, looking for a tanned hide schematic. I believe I looted it from either a sniper or a captain, but definately not a warlord (of which I killed about ten last night and another ten the night before). I actually tried to see if there was a pattern to what I was getting based on the level of the Tusken-- but I couldn't detect one. I believe I got just as much loot from commoners as any other, including two force crystals, tons of loot kit parts and the schematic.

What function do these things have?
Everything but the helm and the datapad (?) just sit there and do nothing...
What kind of content does this bring? Go kill something that you've alread killed a million times over and now you'll get a pretty piece of nothing that sits in a house or a multi player ship.
Does the datapad actually do anything? Can it add more storage space in your own datapad (control-d). That would be pretty usefull and a good improvement.

the repaired datapad is used to read datadisks for some sort of storyline i am guessing ...
they mentioned something about repairing broken and corrupted discs' so that may be what goes into the datapad ...

Anybody know if they found a Black Sun Helmet from doing the Rebel Duty Tours?
You fight Tier 4 Black Sun but am still working on the tours, so far nothing but normal space parts & credits.
Also wandering if there are black sun tier 5's, they would be true "Aces".

A friend of mine on Kauri, Ariyanna, recently acquired all of the parts necessary for the broken datapad... the battery, casing, backlight, connectors and housing. She put them together and it made a datapad that holds 5 items but cannot hold schematics or waypoints. I am not sure if the datapad itself counts as 5 items in your inventory or 1. I would like to think 1, but after seeing the "functionality" of the new armoires and chests, nothing surprises me anymore.
