Thread: Space Expansion
What we know......
The SE will be:
* Twitch
* "Point and shoot"
* "Arcade action-like"
* Joystick compatible
* No atmospheric flight
--------------------
The devs said there will likely be a separate pool of skill points that can only be used for the new professions. In my opinion, we should always be stuck on 250, but it's not my baby.
The video is on the SWG Stratics website (Video Gallery - Celebrations Video - SE footage is about 10 minutes into it)

First: Could somebody PLEASE tell me how to edit my posts? (I feel like a n00b
asking that :smileytongue
Second I think I forgot two; The interface and controls while flying.
You can't edit your posts until you are a Community Veteran. Sorry.
I hope its going to take more then one profession to craft a ship.
Like one to make the different types of engines and hyperdrives,
One to make the different types of weapons,
One to make the different types of armor and shieldings, and
One to make the different types of hulls and piece it all together.
That to me would provide players a reason to work together making stuff and not allow a single person to be able to craft the whole ship by his/her self.

please oh please don't let there be 100's of millenium falcons or outriders flying about, that would ruin everything.
Ship customization - a name registry, just like the player naming rules. no one can name there ship Slave I or the millenium falcon etc. colors would be cool, but realistic colors, i would also cry if i saw a pink Star destroyer. a sigil or icon on the side of my ship would be kewl. players could create a guild or company logo, i think that would be sweet. the only space flight game i've played on PC was freelancer the controls are very excellent in that game.
Walking within a ship would be sweet, picking up cargo and stuff, would be killer.
Ship building - Should involve architects, weaponsmiths, armorsmiths and DE's.
i hope that with teh expansion pack we get to choose like a basic ship ie, simple combat class, simple cargo class, etc like that. just until crafters make the better ships. who would wanna get SE and then have to wait to buy a ship which im sure will be disgustingly pricey.
i know the devs are working hard to balance the combat systems and everything but i wish they would release some info about SE. ever since vehicles its been a growing topic.
The one thing i strongly agree with is that we start out with a basic ship when we buy the SE, because I want to buy the SE but in the game I wouldn't be able to buy one because i'm a poor guy with only 18k in the bank. What's the use of buying the SE if you can't use it?
This said, they need to release this kind of vital information soon, so people like me no wether we should buy it when it comes out or if we should wait until we save up enough money.
from what i've read the se is supposed to include new races and planets, odds are there will be a few other goodies as well so they will probably make us buy the ships ingame.
as for the "things we know" how often have the things we know turned out false? if the devs read this it is important that they know exactly what we want, otherwise we may very well end up with a horribly borring system of space combat *cough*hologrinding*cough*
plz everyone, we all have opinions so try not to nock ppl for saying theirs they have as much right as you do.
very good stuff from everyone hopefuly we arent getting our hopes up to much lol
AFrontier: Elite II style space trading system would be good. I've not given it much thought, but atm I don't see away for the goods that get traded to be player goods. A step in the right direction would be Transportation Tax on stacks of goods of over 1000units, effective as soon as the SE launches. In order to transport large amounts of resources, with paying alot,a player would need to use their own ship.
