I can't think of a singular favorite moment, but there were several back in the early days. I joined SWG on a server that happened to be brand new (although I didn't know it at the time). I didn't venture far from the city (Mos Espa) for days. I was just in awe of everything around me: the detail, the complexity, the danger on the outskirts of town.
I have very vivid memories of those early days grouping for missions (2 in the same direction) and encountering other people out in the wild. I'd come across someone who was camped and I'd sit with him for a bit and shoot the bull. I can't remember the last time I saw someone in a camp (or the last time I made one myself).
I recall rather vividly one day when I was hanging out in Anchorhead and someone ran into town and said they saw an AT-ST a kilometer or so from town. I had never seen one before. A big group of us (at least 15 or so) got together and ran out to see it. Must have been an NPC thing (no one else around) and we decided to attack it. We lined up in prone positions around the AT-ST with our marksman weapons and started to fire. It became apparent early on that we stood no chance. Many fled, zig-zagging back and forth across the desert. I watched the AT-ST take down every single one of us. I remember laughing sohard as each person was hit and fell incapped. Before long, the entire area was littered with our bodies.
The first time I went to Dantooine, I was terrified. We made the six kilometer trek to the Jedi cave on foot and attempted to run the missions, but failed quite often and ended up cloning repeatedly.
The first time I bought a droid was a big deal. I wanted one to help with my artisan crafting (like powerups) and to use with my novice med skills. I ran a ton of missions to save the money for it.
During the days of the holocron-craze, I wanted one in the worst way. I remember spending days at the Imperial Facility on Naboo where the dark troopers spawned. The competition was so ugly and feirce that I gave up several times only to return the next day. I finally looted a holocron and was thrilled. I waited until my friend logged on so we could see what it said together. I began to master that profession (BH) but soon gave up and that put an end to my holo-dreams. Soon after, we got a holo for Christmas and I still have that one to this day, sitting on my mantle (along with a few others I got from cross-server trades).
I remember running out to the various Tatooine POIs on foot. I took some snapshots of myself in front of the Lars Homestead and the crashed escape pod. That was before we had the datapad to tell you where they were. I printed a list of them from a forum post and ran out to them for no other reason than curiosity. This was before you got a badge for each one.
Sadly, I haven't felt anything remotely as thrilling as experiences like these in over a year. Kinda makes me wonder why I've stuck around...

I sure hope the devs are reading this thread. This kind of info is priceless for them to keep the game alive.
I have a terrible memory, but somefun activities I do remember:
- raids from Bestine to AH, then beating a hasty retreat in order to repel the inevitable counterattack. Remember when these were almost an hourly occurrence? (back before player cities...)
- massive player city raids and the destruction of countless rebel HQ's. Talk about teamwork.
- the long trek to Jabba's palace (before vehicles)
- countless hours spent decorating other people's homes back when I was a master architect.
- wandering around on Dathomir for some reason (no combat skills, was still master architect), and literally stumbling across the lesser sarlaac. Health was blackbarred by the time I got back to the outpost. I even remember the shocked look on the face of the medic who healed me.
- all the Mellichae fights I've participated in, my own and other people's, both the successes and the (sometimes laughable) failures.
- as others have mentioned, the first time on the corvette was very Star Warsy. I didn't last long (was a solo commando at the time). Seeing my ATST chasing rebs up and down the halls was hilarious (and a little weird).
- the first time going through the blue fog into Aurilia and hearing the eerie music. Iwent out and back in just to hear it again.
- lighting up my first lightsaber.
- hopping into my first TIE fighter - very Star Warsy.

My best moment was when the Mayor of the City I was living in and the Guild Leader of the guild I was in made a decision which affected all City Citizens and all Guild members.
The Mayor and guild leader were one and the same, and quit the game quite suddenly without so much as a good bye or a passing of the torch. This left the city in disarray and near collapse. The Mayore wasnt all too blame as the game system meant the incumbent mayor was re-elected unless half the city voted for an alternative and many city citizens were dormant or even had quit themselves.
Well it was a right old pain in the whatsit to rectify the situation, which we did eventually after a long and arduous struggle. Would have been a lot easier had the incumbent said goodbye and put matters in order and handed over the reigns properly.
Oh well. Life is dull without challengs, but a farewell would have been good.........

Wow to many good moments to choose, well i have to say my best moments where when i first started i met a wookie who showed me the trade how to play and we would just play all day together, those where the best times ever. Also another great time was going to the warren to get the badges as me and my two friends came face to face with a giant turret...now it said the turret was off...RIGHT. Who should go in first??? I being the brave one decided to test the large gun only to be shot into tiny pieces. I Hoped out of that clone center and headed right back to see the guys standing there afraid to go in. MABEY IF I GO PRONE HE WONT SEE ME!!!. Muwahahah. BAM Another trip to the clone center. Finally my friend gets the bright idea why dont we all just burst run in??? Bingo. It was the best felling in the world to run past the fiering turret into the next room and to be confronted by a bunch of npcs in battle. Great times.

ive had so many fun times, but by far, the most fun one, was during a huge battle, protecting our base. a group of about 15 strong rebels attacked, and we had about 9 people fighting back. i killed two guys, 4 guys were killed on their side as well as 3 on ours. so its 6 on9 (hehe) and i get poisoned by the damned cm. so i run, and remember seeing in the patch notes that turrets were mannable. so, i decide, what the hell, i go in the base and try out the suckers. so i bring up the list, while at 1 mind, and find a list of 9 guys. i click the highest ham guy, wait 3 seconds, refresh page, -34 ham, go to next guy on list, attack, 3 seconds , -2 ham, keep doing that and i come out to find all 9 corpses laying around the turret lol, good times

My favorite moments were back in the day when you'd get with groups of people and fight Kimos and Krayts, and right before a fight, you'd look around, and you'd instantly know that half of the people we're gonna end up dead.
It was so F*cking exciting.
Nowadays though, it's a different story. Rarely do I get situations in which I feel that kind of excitement, so I guess my most recent best moment was when I got to craft and use my Lightsaber as a Jedi. All that hard work finally paying off is a pretty sweet moment.

ditto, prior to unlocking, I would have thought that lighting up a light sabre for the first time would have been better, but that moment was definitely the best.

1) When as a novice marksman with a low-class laser rifle, I managed to lure my first Big'Un, rogue fambaa, to some domestic tusk cats that kindly tanked for me while I killed him. The screen shake!
2) Getting master rifleman title.
3) Speed capping rifle.
4) Taming my first rare, gaping spider queen "Auntie".
5) Looting my only über loot so far, AA polerarm speed+6 from a petty Aa'kuan. Selling it for x millions
7) Understanding how easy it is to make money with fusion power.

my first night playing was an absolute blast. i was playing a twilek entertainer/scout/brawler/medic (perhaps i was spreading myself a bit too thin?--hey,cut me a break, i didn't know how skill points worked yet). i started off in mos eisley, amazed that i was actually playing a character in freaking STAR WARS! it was awesome. i ran into another noob outside the starport; we ran around eisley until some kind-hearted vet gave us each 25k (a fortune, then). we hopped on the shuttle and headed to theed.
we were pegged as noobs the second we got off the shuttle (as it were).a kindly wookiee master doctor (wearing robes--can you believe it?! a wookiee--IN CLOTHES!) started told us to follow him, he had a surprise for us; we agreed, and followed dutifully, trusting his judgement, right up to the point where he told us to jump off a waterfall. after a bit of convincing, he got us to go over the falls...AND GET OUR VERY FIRST BADGES! (i was dumbfounded--that's how you got those badge thingies everyone had in their profiles!)
after i shook off the amazement of that, the good doctor told me to stand still. a droid appeared from nowhere (did it teleport in? did the doc have a bag of holding?) all of the sudden, my HAM bars stated shifting! what in the world was going on?! he told me he was 'buffing' me (whatever that meant), and that we could now get to his house without dying on the way (foreshadowing). we set out again, the wook in the lead, we two noobs following (chasing him but holding the button down--'/follow'? 'autorun'? never heard of them).
suddenly, we were ambushed. it was a mighty battle, the kind that proves your mettle--if it doesn't break you. we were fighting the most hideous and frightening of all enemies--NIGHTSPIDERS!...after a long battle, hard-fought, i felt like the king of the world. i had killed nightspiders. i was officially a bad mutha-(shut yo mouth!).
my cockiness unfortunately got the best of me. my first incap happened a short while later--RSF pirates? why not? i'm a bad mutha; i have my little silver knife--i can take these guys!...luckily, the good doctor was still with us (as a side-effect of my brazen attack on 5 armed pirates, i learned what 'ROFLMAO' meant...the doc just kept saying it over and over, standing over my little borken twilek body...)
there have been a lot of great moments since then (killing my first rancor, meeting the old man, getting the final explorer badge), but i don't think anything could really compare to that very first night.

Wow - it is great to see so many good stories, so much positivity (trolls excluded!)and reminders of the things that have kept us playing this game for 18 months...
It's going to be interest to see what 2005 brings for us - hopefully the Combat Upgrade will make it all feel new again!

I have two favorite noob times.
One was my first day in game... I had a character on Tarquinas named Valivo Runningmoon. He was a novice artisan. Anyway, I was out running around, exploring the area around Mos Eisley. I had some troubles (incapped by a few evil hermits :-D). Eventually, I found an NPC that asked me to make some kind of item and deliver it to his client. I accepted it, and made the item. I looked at my map, and saw that his "client" was in Wayfar.
As most of you know, Wayfar is out in the middle of nowhere with no shuttleport. This was in July 2003, long before player vehicles or mounts. I made it to Anchorhead, where I asked people if anyone was heading out to Wayfar so I could go with them and hopefully stand a better chance of making it there alive. I think I eventually found someone, but they died a little while later. About halfway out to Wayfar, I stopped at a Novice Ranger's camp (big camp compared to what I had seen!) and talked for a while, then continued. When I finally made it to Wayfar, I delivered the item and received my reward of about 150 credits.
My other favorite time was when I made Nokkata on Tempest (Novice Brawler) and, after a little bit of leveling, went out to the Tusken Town (near Wayfar again :-D). Another Wookiee, Orochei (who ended up being first smuggler on Tempest) and I led the group of noobs (we all were- this was right after Tempest launched in August 03) and attacked Tuskens from the top of a hill that overlooked it. We eventually tried to take on the Tusken King... I think we all died at least 3 times, but we managed to take him out eventually.
