And getting APP exp...
You know, if there is one thing I hate doing, it is standing around spamming "training XYZ!" And this guide is a great way to avoid doing that. As an Artisan, I made master in about 30 minutes from 0 AP. I did this by wandering around Mos Eisley looking for crafters that were clearly new. I then taught them about gaining crafting exp and gave them some materials to make tools... then some materials to grind up Engineering as well as why I recommended that skill branch. Then I showed them how to find a good deposit of something for grinding and kept them sampling whenever they forgot to... and kept em grinding. Whenever they qualified for a skill box, I taught it.. and whenver someone came running up asking to learn a skill that I had already taught the new person, I showed the new guy how to teach that person (the 30 lost app exp is worth showing the newbie how to gain app). Once they make eng III, it's time to hand over some serious materials and get them working on grinding wind harvesters. A few dozen of these bad boys, and you've got a boatload of app points, the new player has most of the skill boxes to get to master, the knowledge to get the app points, and the ability to do their profession reasonably well.... everyone wins.
Not to mention.. you get a new friend who will no doubt pester you every time you log in to see what you are doing... and that's what it's all about.

Wonderful to see such positivity on these forums. Matter of fact, after I get home today, I think I'll stick my neglected helper tag up and head to my old stomping grounds. Win or lose, it should really give an insight into BH to take a novice marksman out on a jedi hunt, hehe.

You're missing a pretty big one.
Tell the new players how to get to these forums.
I think half of my playing experience exists in helping players and learning new things on these boards.

I wear my HELPER tag with pride and mean it!
for Marksmen/Brawlers:Buff yourself (not them, they can learn that downward spiral for themselves later)andand toss on your 80%K Comp andbe their tank...I have on many occasion gone toe to toe with Deranged Wrix on Corellia with nothing but my fists (this one kinda leaves out the TKs)
For any profession you go on missions with: give them your share of the payout for regular missions. What's 3k to you? It a small fortune to them
The two most important things to remember are:
Have Patience (it's going to take them a bit to blow the lair with that CDEF)
Be Understanding (the Universe is a big scary place for most Newbies, they will have LOTS of questions)
