Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
Very interesting idea, Riis....
Okay, try this.
Reul Eidolon, a human Smuggler/Medic (male).
If you can me the language "reul" comes from, I'd beimpressed!
ok..might as well join in..
Di'jobi - zabrak
Sinjinn - zabrak(which I see someone has submitted,so might be same for me)
Well What a post How many Pages..
OK heres mine I think the 'Name Doc' will slate this one as a Wookie but hell I gotta see ![]()
FiZzeR'Yag - Wookie - Doc / Rifleman
Any suggestions on a variant of - Fizzer - for wookies would be really appreciated..( Had the Handle for years now RL/Avatar - It's a motorbike thing )
I'm Clueless ![]()
Good morning folks (if 4 AM can be considered a true "morning"). I have here the balance of the names from page 34, those brave souls who have awaited the word. There are 13 names on the list....perfect for Halloween!
Shahadet Yokatsu
This name is an example of the prevalence of Asiatic names in SWG, which does not have a tremendous amount of support in the canon and literature outside of Jedi names. It's for this reason I balk, wanting to stay as true to the literature as possible. Shahadet is of course a copy from a variety of gaming systems, which name is derived from Shahadat, a type of religious figure in Islam.
Neetika Abru
The first name is very Inuit in some ways. I like how the name works together, in fact, I like how Abru Neetika sounds as well. The long/short thing you have going is quite nice. I think your Polynesian/Inuit-esque name is a great choice for a Mon Calamari, but like all multi-name Mon Calamari, you will need to do some fast talking to justify having two names in a one name culture.
Xifo Shadizar
Whil I tend to disdain "X" names, I think Xifo is ok. I'm fairly sure this is a Name Generated first name, as I can tell you I have seen named NPCs with that name. For a Rodian, Xifo is nice, but Shadizar is a little human for my tastes. I think a slight modification would be in order...such as: Shadlir, or Suhadissar.
Lamia
Another one nameer. I think the single name you have selected would be great for a Smuggler, especially considering the history of the name itself. Now the two references to Lamia I can think of off the top of my head is a Keats(?) or Longfellow poem, and a place in Greece. Both of these references are neither distracting nor immersion-breaking, so I think you will work fine with this name.
Goraakka
I am amused by the thought of a Wookiee chef. I can only imagine his kitchen. As for a Wookiee name, I think you did well. I can't really see any modifications that would truly improve the name, so we shall leave it as is.
Fyn Moonfog
Fyn here has an interesting stage name, and I believe strongly that "Moonfog" should be a stage name. You should consider how you can perform in such a way as to be a "Moonfog," I can think of a few. Fyn is of course the pinnacle of Riis' Law (I think the only name I have seen that is shorter that worked is "Av." Nice name.
Yewrev Americo
Well, I think this name possesses some potential, but it isn't there for a human, and definitely not there for a Bothan. Let us leave Yewrev, which will do in this situation, and explore "Americo." For obvious reasons this is not going to work, so first we modify it thus: Americo can have every letter shifted by vowel or consonant thus: Enisodu. Then we can Bothanize it: Enis'odu. Now, I can tell you would think this is NOTHING like the name you selected, so we can play with some basic vowel shifts: Emirico, Emirocu, Amerocu. Bothanize these to Emir'ico, Emir'ocu, and Amer'ocu.
Morhea Jakri
Your name, M-oh-ree-uh Jah-k-ree, is a fine name, with a little bit of interest in it. First off, the first name is awfully close to "Moira" in sound, giving us the "familiar yet unfamiliar" touch. Jakri is a good fast, yet powerful last name. It conveys speed, and finalization of effort. I think the combination is excellent.
Dara Shaku
Not much I can say about this quality name. Some high points: Riis' Law being short and sweet. Good mix of sounds and it possesses the elusive "familiar yet unfamiliar" tone. Well done.
Via Vallon
Again, another name that I can't say much for. Human names are the easiest to advise on...you can tell right away if they will work or not. For much the same reasons as Dara up there, your name is well made.
Epyr Kenalt
I really like your new name. Epyr has a fun construction, and is interesting to say (this is one everyone should say out loud). Kenalt is a good, abrupt yet musical last name. The combination has lots of movement in the mouth, and takes a good chunk of breath to move it out. A nice name.
To'Amavlyn Oolmof
The other end of the scale from many of the names in this group is this one, for a Zabrak. I have definitely little negative to say. I think I can see a lot of fun getting your name typed out for /tells, though. The first name is a bit long, and seems familiar to me for some reason I can't put my finger on. The last name would likely be fun to say in many situations, and mimics a Germanic construction here.
Taralyn
Taralyn strikes me as more fantasy than Star Wars, but I certainly have no direct problem with it. I think I would be interested in seeing what sort of first name or what sort of last name you could come up to compliument this name.
Planet Fact for the Day:
Endor is actually one of nine moons of a giant gas giant that bears the same name. It is speculated, based upon Ewok lore, that Endor was somehow transported to this system in the Moddell sector from another system, one with binary suns. In addition to the silvery light cast by its planet, the planet in which Endor is in orbit gives it another gift: earthquakes. Kneading the inner core of the moon, Endor likely suffers disastrous earthquakes as it races around its planet and its slightly differing gravitational fields.
RbT
Too bad I didn't see this earlier....
I am Sural Argonus.
Pronunciation (SOO-ral Ar-GO-nus)
Name derrives from my original online name ofThe Unknown Lord, back in 1986, then over the next 2 years, became Lord Sural Argonus....then in another game that friends and I played....became Lord Sural Argonus, the Overlord of Argonia.
It actually came to me in a dream, and has stayed with me in one form or another over the past decade.
Actually have other names too, for other characters, Friends of Sural actually....
Midian Blade
Larik Morose
Arikka Argonus
Melina Blade
Janos Runeflinger (from Fantasy RPGs....Mage of course...Stolen from Bard's Tale 3's default character "Runeflinger"...Better then Ironpants...)
I'd like to see with Riis says about these....heheh
Only one that is intended to be humorous is Janos....but only to those who have played Bard's Tale 3's default characters....
Larik actually is a modification of one of the members of Metallica...Lars Ulrich....
Arikka is Sural's sister...and it's pronounced just like Erika
Melina and Midian are just first names that I heard, and thought were cool....(From Mortal Kombat and Wrestling respectively)
Oh...Forgot to add one thing....
Argonus may sound like Argo (Ship from Jason and the Argonauts) but it isn't. ![]()
However, as I have been told...Because of the similarities between them, it does appear to have Greek roots.
Opethian The Blood ...Zabrak. His house corrupted by the reach of the Empire he watched his brothers one by one get shipped off to serve the Empirial forces. Not wanting to have his fate decided for him he murders his father and is imprisoned awaiting trial and sentence. With aid from a longtime friend he escapes to Tatooine running from his past and his people.
Ok Opethian being the first name....I wanted the title of his house to be "Of the blood" as in Royalty. However I don't speak Zabrak so I don't know what "The Blood" would be in that language....I'd love your ensight....
DyrtySmurf
Hi Riis,
Correction on last post, Sorry ! Only one L in Winobi Lan
Winobi Lan - human/male/rebel/doc/combat
Tigho - humans/male/imperial/doc/combat
Alizarine Khrimzyn, female zabrak, originally Master Artisan but now CH and Fencer
Thought it sounded foreign-like. It's a color of red paint (artisan) and also Crimson, my red dog's "proper" name.
