I've noticed that at times, when there is a lot going on in the game graphically, the game will just crash to the desktop. It's rare, but it's quite possible that at a higher resolution it might occur more frequently.
Only way to find out is to change the res to 1024x768 and see if that helps, I guess. And you might want to set Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering to defaults too, SWG runs really poorly with those enabled.
Seriously, there is no reason the game should run the way it does - systems with specs that didn't even exist when SWG was released get lag in Coronet and Theed (heck, I even get it bad in Bestine!). The game should run smooth as silk on such a rig, especially if it's well-maintained.

You aren't modifying the client, you're adding a preference. If you think that this is still "modifying the client" then I hope you haven't changed your keymap, the colors of the interface, display resolution etc... because all of those things are changed in the same way (the new preferences are written to a config file).
It's not locked because the info came from SOE originally, as I recall. Why would they want to discourage people with multiple accounts?

It won't let you run two instances of the same account.
You might be able to log in but both will be disconnected within 10-15 minutes.
It's intended to allow two different accounts to log in at once.
Is there a way to do this? i can log them both in sometimes but the first instance would invariably log off b4 or shortly after the second completes the load.
Im pretty sure it can be done somehow because im pretty sure there are people that do it......

I have done as the original post stated and it works with noproblems. I log my first toon on all the way until its finished loading then I drop to the desktop (Alt + Tab) and open up a new SWG game. I log on the differant toon all the way untill its finished loading. I can swap between toons with Alt + TAB, it does take a while to swap (about 20 secs) and sometimes I get a black screen for about a minute but if I leave the keyboard alone it will do it eventually.
Just thought I'd give you my version of what I do.

Anyone i know who runs multiple accounts can no longer double-log
/congratz SOE will lose about a third of active accounts now.
