Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
Almost afraid to get my lovely name dissected, but here goes ^^
Kaaz Nemere, Zabrak
Personally I pronounce it Kaa-s but that spelling makes me think of a certain snake....

When in doubt, use the formula for creating your own Star Wars name.
First four letters of your RLlast name + first two letters of first name = SW first name
First three letters of mother's maiden name + first two letters of city of birth = SW surname.
Rockdo Casro, heh pretty cool
Well, I just saw this post today or I might have posted sooner as I am also a huge Star Wars fan and enjoy seeing names that fit in continuity.
A little background on my character first:
Volth A'Culaaz was an Ubese Bounty Hunter that I played in a tabletop Star Wars RPG campaign. He was popular with my group and I loved to play him, so I decided to make him in SWG when it came out. Of course there are no Ubese as a species (though they do have the signature armor of course) in SWG, so I went with my other choice for species whenI originally made the character (Zabrak), which of course ARE in SWG.
So now I have a Zabrak with an Ubese name (yes it follows Ubese naming conventions) soI needed to come up with an explanation. For those that don't know the Ubese are a race of somewhat xenophobic survivalists who live on planet that was turned into a radioactive wasteland by the Old Republic when the Ubese attempted to stockpile weapons of mass destruction. The story I came up with was that my young Zabrak was with his parents on a starship that accidently found the Ubese homeworld Uba IV (which is not on any star charts) and crashed on planet. Both his parents died in the crash but he survived for a good week before an Ubese hunting party found him. The Ubese adopted him and raised him as their own because they admired his ability to survive on his own in a wasteland that should have, by all rights, killed him in a matter of hours.
Thus the reason my Zabrak Bounty Hunter has an Ubese name.
Give my name a whirl please!
Keravi Ati
Zabrak male, Doctor/Creature Handler
pronounced: ker-AH-vee AH-tee
I 'doctored' a few generated names and came up with this...I just liked the way it flowed/felt/sounded...only afterwards did I look at it and think "great, someone is going to think that I am an ATI Video card fanboi" ![]()
Partial backstory is that the name is an almost forgottenZabrak saying that means"it is often best tospeak, by listening"
Next name:
SpAnkY3rM0m TuchMahG1blet
heh heh heh, of course j/k!!! a play on the red namers (red shirts? hmmm)
Awesome thread!! Thanks!
Keravi Ati
Garett Jax
I've always like the name Garrett, in all of it's forms. It travels well in every genre AND has the advantage of not being immediately recognizable as being from ANY genre. It's one of my favorite names for this reason. Jax is also a great name. All in all, a fine fine name, and sounds great too when spoken aloud."
Actually, I believe this is a slight alteration of the name Gareth Jax, the weaponmaster from the book The Elfstones of Shanarra by Terry Brooks. It's been a while since I last read it, so I don't know if that was the exact name, but I think it was.
If you're still at this, I have a few names to throw into the mix. My favorite is Ajanu Me'lat, a Zabrak female who doesn't really have much of a backstory yet, and I'm still working out her career goals. By the way, it's pronounced Ah-ZHAH-noo May-LAHT, with the capitalized parts being where emphasis is placed.Madu Pebo is the name of my Bothan character, and Neevik is my Rodian. Both of them were either name generator names or slight alterations of the name generator names, I think. And then there's my lovable Wookiee named Womprat, but I came up with that entirely as a nickname, seeing as he's from Tatooine. He plans on either being a master bounty hunter or a bounty hunter/creature handler combo. The latter would go well if he had his namesakes as pets.
For those of you who don't read Penny Arcade, they've expressed an interesting opinion about names in FFXI:
http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2003-12-08&res=l"If you don't have some vaguely Celtic-sounding name going on, what is the point. I ask you. Next time you create a character, ask yourself: have I used enough Y's?" - Tycho
Riis, this is an awesome thread...but WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF??? You know that this thread will never end and will be on the top of the forum forever. Pretty soon you will be begging the moderators to close it before your head explodes!!
But until that happens, take a crack at mine ![]()
My Twi'lek's name is Rod'dan Andreus. Mind you, the first name is his whole birthname, and his last name is adopted from his Tatooinian human father figure, Andreus Dunepasser (also one of mine). Well, there you go. Run with it.
what the heck, ill bite,
in character
Who is it that questions the nobe name of Kinkiler, ok, maybe not so noble, but none the less, grovel befor me the Great HUMAN carbineer, and wandereer SETHORN KINKILER.
Amazing thread so far!
Two more names to analyze:
Dali Vesi, male Twi'lek, Musician
Kava Vesi, female Twi'lek, Dancer
Thanks for your time.
Wow, this is a turly impressive undertaking.... my curiousity drives me to add my name to the list, it's one of my favorite character names that I have come up with. (Aureil is a surname I have used before, Arikos I made up on the spot.)
Arikos Aureil is a Human former officer in the Imperial military, but after witnissing proof of the Empire's involvement with the destruction of Alderaan he has joined the Rebellion, using his new contacts to work as a Smuggler alongside his existing expertise as a special forces commando.
