Thread: Star Wars Names: The Name Doctor is IN!
Hey Riis, Here's some fodder for your Wookie naming convention. Could the names be a galach approximation of the true name? take for example - N!xau, a San bushman from the Kalahari Desert who starred in "The Gods Must Be Crazy". I believe the N! is a clicking sound that has no representative symbology in english.
could wookie names be like this with clicks & roar-inflections?
Does Han ever actually refer to Chewbacca by full name? or is it always chewie?
Could that be because he can't pronounce his name?
and now for a name you will hate but I am gonna post it anyhow....
Trandoshan:
Makesa Nicewallet
It is a buddy of mines first character he made it last night....crazy eh?
This looks great, had to put mine in here and keep an eye on the thread -
Kayden Steelheart - Human Male from Corellia, Smuggler, Pistoleer, and Hand to Hand Specialist (i.e. TKA). Kayden was a CorSec member until the death of his partner and coverup caused him to leave. He became a pilot and smuggler freelance, looking for a calling in life.
Rynac Olven - Human
Rynac is a nice mix of my last name minus a few letters...*duh*
Olven is the nice city I live in also mixed...
Nosferu Nautaz
Zabrak, Pistoler
I'll share my names if you are still doing them.
Rygian Kylorak - Zabrak (Bounty Hunter) *I made this name up for another game but carried it over.*
Ayteron Nyritak - Human (Smuggler) *Same as above*
Ofig Atoos- Mon Calamari (Doctor)*Medical Acronym for
"One Foot In Grave And The Other One Slipping" *
Nibak Geler - Transdoshan (Creature Handler/Boi-Engineer) *Bastardized from my real name*
Rate one or all if you want. Just curious as to your take of them. I personally like them.
Well, I took a vacation from namination there for a few days, and the thread kept on rolling. Well, today I apply nose to grindstone (I have the day off!) and will grind your names to the grindstone as well:
Presenting the Page 29 names!
Becrux Deako
Seven days since you posted this name, and I am happy to report that it looks just fine today, as it did a week ago. Good name. The only issue I would have is Becrux is both an astonomical name and a plant name, but I definitely think it is obscure enough to slip by.
Grell Durronn
Another good name. I like how it fits together, as though the names were made for one another.
Porkchop Jefferson
Now this name definitely conjures up some mental images, and not bad ones either. Unfortunately, I don't believe the name is very Star Wars. Porkchop would be a food item that simply doesn't exist here, that could be fixed with a species change, and the same would go for Jefferson. I think an equivalent name would be something like: Banthachop Jafirsan, or maybe Kaaducut Jeffirsun.
Afoi Oca
A very short, vowel-intense name. A focused name for a focused species. Good choice.
Falin M'or
I like how the name works together, and would only suggest lengthening the last name a bit. Maybe something like Mor'lin or Mor'fen or some such.
Framahr Cavan
This name seems a little familiar, and I am unsure of why. At any rate, it looks fine from my perspective. I am always happy to see names that don't strictly follow the vowel/consonant patterns of English, such as Framahr.
Whattam I'duin/M'ama Luv
Well, of course I see your point, and it is funny, but very much immersion destroying. Also, I'm going to use these names to point out that putting an apostrophe into a name does nothing to break it up if it is a "normal" word, and it doesn't disguise it at all either. ![]()
Cliffsp'Abb
An...interesting...name to be sure. I would go ahead and seperate the Cliff and Spabb parts. On second thought, the name needs a heave-ho. Cliff Spab has nothing to do with Star Wars. ![]()
Taaz Dovim
Well the prognosis is good. Taaz is a fun name, but many Star Wars names are, and I applaud it. Dovim works fine as a last name. The combo together sound good, and little could be improved on witht he sound, except maybe another soft sound in the last name or a conversion to all hard sounds.
Faaleria Kira'athu
Good name. It is a little difficult to pronounce, but I don't think this is overly a problem.I am curious if you pronounce the last name "Kira (stop) Athu" or "Keer-uh-ah-thu". The first pronounciation would be more correct, but the second sounds much better. Those apostrophes just get in the way, sometimes
.
Coli-Wan Lumpobi
Interesting try, but I am afraid your efforts to pass the name filter were more successful than your efforts to pass the Name Doctor. Please try again. ![]()
Saerf
Interesting name for a Trandoshan. I like it. Very short, not going nuts with "s" sounds. A good name.
Piaoliang Fengbao
Man, I wish I could like this name in Star Wars. It's a truly great name, from the cultural treasure that is China. Unfortunately, as I have stated before, there is no evidence of this style of name in Star Wars, being a very Euro- and "Fake Japanese"-centric naming system.
Lecim Barkar: I amn working on a large name list!
Mook
Hmm, I like the name, but...no I'll just say I like the name. Riis' Law will work here.
These are the page 29 names. I will continue with more names as the day progresses!

If you're still doing this, I'll throw mine out...
Sarricah (last name not known). Human/Female
