Just a suggestion....
If you are running Windows XP, and you installed the new Service Pack 2, you will find you now have a firewall.
Also I have seen some computers take a complete nose-dive after installing the Service Pack 2.
Just something to look at. Oh yeah, run a few defrags, a scandisk, and the Full-Scan tool that came with SWG.
Might help

It could be heat like the other guy said. Or Spyware or a viral problem. Last night i kept crashing to desktop on my 1ghz machine but was fine on my 3.4ghz machine. I did a cold boot and then did a full scan on loading SWG. fixed the problem just fine for me. download adaware from WWW.lavasoftusa.com, do the update files after starting the program and then scan all drives. Spyware can seriously jack up your machine. if it is heat related, open the side cover of your machine and have a fan blow in the case, then try starting the machine up. It could be your OS so check that out as well.

Did you change your graphics settings when you updated your graphics drivers? Especially the settings having to do with bilinear, trilinear and mipmapping? These will cause the black screen. You'll still be "logging in" but it won't load the loading screens and subsequently won't load the game's 3d objects if these settings are messed up in any way.

Ugh,,,the jedi got more attention first becouse it was an easyer fix. They got the small things out of the way first. I mean really, some of you people want the game to come in a gold platted box with every single item there is in the game in your inventory when you first appear, and have 200000 billioncredits.
If they did the gcw and the combat re-balance first, it would be another year of puuting up with the whines and crys of jedi, now they dont. God, they cant just snap thier fingers and make everything better. It takes time. let them finish JTL, then the'll focus solely on fixig the rest of the game with a whole team of devs.

check your hardware, Last time I crashed every 5 minutes when playing SWG, I found out my MoBo was going bad and was crashing my game.
Got a new MoBo and no more problems.

If you updated to the newest Nvidia drivers that may be the problem. The 61.xx (I think that's them) drivers have caused problems with SWG and ALL but the newest Nvidia cards. Roll back to the earlier video drivers to see if that clears up the problem. If that doesn't work, try posting on the tech forum with the stats they ask for and Gnomepunter will definitely be able to help you.

Yeah it was the drivers and a combination of a virus, thanks for the help mostly everyone
But, for the person who said that the jedi pub 10 was a "quick fix" is just not right , it is not a quick fix to implement a whole new system, tons of new quests

I completely agree with the post author here! This last publish has really ruined things for me also. I went out to mow my lawn the other day and my riding mower wouldnt start at all!! I had to use the push mower and do the 2 acres that way. I submitted a ticket but all the CSR said was "your kidding right". So Isubmitted another one but this time im all caps (because thats how you get attention you know) and they ignored me!!!! Out of the half million people that play this game how could they ignore ME!!!!???. I want a DEV to come over and fix my damn lawn mower instead of doing publishes that 75% of the player base wants. I swear this timeI mean it Im about 2 acres away from hitting the cancel button.
And dont even try asking me about the gas or the battery because they wer both fine before pub10. How can you people not see that the devs dont care weather or not there game ruined my perfexctly good lawnmower or that they screwed up this poor guys computer by praobably causing the video card to lock the motherboard due to a potential power issue.
Thats it!!! this time I really mean it !! Im through, (well at least untill im done mowing the lawn)

So, is this the part where you apologize to SOE for blaming all of your computer problems on them, or do you continue to be a weasel and evade your responsibility for your own problems?

Honestly though, look at the tech support forums and post there on Monday, they do seem to pay attention to those forums, I have need help before and gotten a tech response within 30 mins. Remember to be constructive though and not angry, you always will catch more flies with honey.
