rename the ac/dc song toeach of the combat lp's (12 in total, a b c for player/npc/creat/old combat)
then rename mus_player_v_#####_&_vict (# = player/npc/creat, & = a b c) also do the old combat music mus_combat_&_vict
everything is labeled in my post

goodluck on the musician's songs, they are sound bites about 1-2 secs linked depending on the flourish, I looked at doing this about a year ago and said screw it, way to much trouble for what it's worth.
also if you are into doing this, search for a .tre analyzer and start extracting the .tre's to get avg play times for the music you replace, I found trying to throw in a whole song messed up the sound sometimes and ended cutting up the mp3's into my favourite section.

Great post, Tak.
As a couple of folks here have mentioned, since you're creating new directories on your own local machine (e.g. 'sound')... you're not violating anything in the EULA. None of your "mods" are being transmitted back or forth to the server, and it has no effect on others' gameplay (nor does it provide you any kind of competitive advantage... just adds some life to one of the dullest, most ignored aspects of the game...)
There are similar things you can do to modify things like the (inaccurate) speederbike sound effects in the game. Since you're not transmitting mods to the server, or modifying any actual game files, you're in the clear.
Folks that post macros for AFK buffing etc would be much more at risk for a violation than anyone that uses a client side mod for sound or appearance. Same goes for the eBayers. And that's obviously not something SOE spends much time enforcing.

It's clearly not a violation to do this, but the iffy thing is that someone had to decrypt the .tre files to figure out how to do this and that is a violation...
But I'm pretty sure as long as you're not doing it to steal their ideas and put them in another game, or create cheats to use in the game, they probably wouldn't mind all that much.

I completely agree. I'm just playing the devil's advocate. ![]()
I was going to say that the .tre files were at one time transferred to your client from the server, but I suppose the original .tre files weren't. ![]()
At any rate, this is fine. Nice find TakO. ![]()

Yeah... That should be just "Music", not "My Music".
Other than that everything looks good.

some music files, like combat, seem to loop after 2 minutes...still limits choices to a point

acctually you can decypt files that are not transfered between the client and server
music files are not,the server keeps track of time and whenever you come to a certain time/location a piece of code, either on the client or server, tells the client to play mus_whatever located in music/whatever.tre

I know that not all the sound files for us to change are listed.
Can anyone post a complete list? Not bits and pieces but maybe someone can output an entire list?
Awsome find btw.
