hello, i got slicing4 now and i have a question about slicing.
when i make laser knives or clamps, do i need good % to get better results? when i buy AUK and WUK, what kind of things whould i care? i heard slicing results are all random....do quality of tools make differences?
please let me know if you have good advices to be a good slicer.
thank you

Yes, slicing is completely random... as long as you use clamps there is nothing more you can do to help the slice (other than being master smuggler...)

Sometimes doing the p-p dance helps,...as does praying, spitting, and slapping yourself silly. Whatever gets your mojo reving

I guess this has been said....but....it is random. Don't let peeps rip you off by charging more for higher quality WUKS, AUKS, ans Clamps.

I have been reading these posts over and over and can't seem to find what i'm looking for.
I am currently working becoming a master smuggler, with the nearly worthless undergroud tree and a few k pistol xp keeping me from getting master. I've been considering not getting master and wasting the skill points on that underground tree. Me and some guild mates have been in a debate about wether or not being master has any effect on your slices. These same people still insist that the quality of the tools has an effect on the slice %.
I have read the posts that say that slice % is completely random, tools have no effect. But does your slice lvl have any effect? And does master give you better or possibly a higher cap %?
any feedback would be great, wearing the title of master smuggler would be nice but if it comes at the cost of that many skill points for nothing i'm not sure i wouldn't reather use them somewhere else.

Yes, Master Smugglers have higher slice ranges than plain old Slicers
Slicers can only slice weapons to a maximum of 30% - Master Smugglers can get up to 35%
A similar 5% range increase at Master is also applied to armor eff and enc slices, off the top of my head the max for Masters are 35% eff and 45% enc, with Slicers only being capable of 30% eff and 40% enc slices
I'm a Master Smuggler and if I do end up dropping the profession, I'll drop it all rather than degrade myself by going down to Slicing IV. Smugglers who stop at Slicing IV and just wear their Slicer tags are vermin. But that's just my opinion.

Yep, the max slice is 35% compared to the 30% of slicing IV.
A great post with answers to most of the questions asked is the Smuggler FAQ, writen by Caylin. Clickity to check it out
Straight from said FAQ:
Slicing 4
Master Smuggler:
Slicing 4
- Weapon: 10-30% Speed or Damage
- Armor: 5-30% Effectiveness
- Armor:15-40% Encumbrance
Master Smuggler:
- Weapon: 15-35% Damage or Speed
- Armor: 11-35% Effectiveness
- Armor: 20-45% Encumbrance

We just need a sticky with a title that says: "Master Smugglers slice better than Slicers (Slicing IV)"

Thanks guys, the link helped alot, not sure how i managed to over look it, thought i had read most of the stuff on here.
what i am reading is that master has bonuses, but un-listed, and the equipment you use has no effect.
The underworld tree is the same, has some effects/skills but not listed on skills page after 1st box.
seems like a huge waste of points and xp for an empty tree, or an i overlooking something again.
