Q. How come /peace does not work?

A. This is no longer a valid command. You must either A) Uncheck your auto-attack or B) untarget your current target or

C) move out of range of your target.

Tip: Not having an auto-attack will keep you from continually attacking a lair. You can double click on the lair to attack it.

A) Doesn't work.
B) Doesn't matter.
C) Doesn't work.

Explanations:
A) You remain in combat whether or not you have an auto-attack set.
B) Untargeting your opponent does absolutely nothing. It's a placebo effect, in that if you have nothing targeted, you can't continue the encounter on your end - it doesn't stop your opponent. If they keep shooting, you're still stuffed.
C) You must move out of range AND STAY OUT OF RANGE. Usually for at least a few seconds against a human opponent, longer against an AI since they will continue to chase you, even when they're out of range of their own attacks.

The ONLY thing that will get you out of combat is when both you and whoever/whatever you are in combat with stop trying to execute moves (not just attacks - heals will put you in combat if your target is!) and after a short period of time (around 10 seconds) without any attacks, you will "exit" combat automatically.
You won't notice the change if you are attempting to run away from an NPC/creature, as they can break combat themselves, which will usually finish the combat. But if you try and heal someone engaged in a duel (Bacta Spray is ideal for this) your character will go into combat mode, even if you can't actually attack the people involved. Assuming you don't use further heals, your character will stay in combat mode for a short period of time, then exit.

/peace would be pointless in the new system in any case. "Auto-attack" will always try and attack your target, regardless of whether you are in combat or not at the time. Attempting to /peace out wouldn't matter.

If you don't have an auto-attack set, the "old" style /peace still "works", because you will no longer be attacking your AI opponent - which is what it was based on before. If you don't hurt them for X period of time, they leave you be. Unless they're agro. And not factioned. Factioned agro's rarely attack unless provoked at the moment.

Some good tips otherwise, but some additions:

Doctors: you need to be at LEAST Novice Doctor in order to be able to heal player's wounds. Low level Medic no longer has any way to heal player wounds, making it much more of an "all or nothing" option.

Novice Medic: Health Heals at Novice are not very good, however it's still faster than player's "standard" regeneration. Sit down, target your character and use Bacta Shot. Less downtime!

XP: You cannot gain XP for Combat Medic (and probably Doctor) if you haven't mastered Medic, even though Master Medic is no longer required for either profession. Medical XP caps at double your next box requirement. This means if you have 0400 Medic (The Medic pre-req for Combat Medic) your XP cap is a mere 2000xp - not enough to gain a box in Combat Medic. /bug repeatedly if you are affected by this until a fix goes in.

Scouts: Pay attention to your System Message spam when using "Mask Scent" as there is no longer any visual indication as to whether or not your scent is currently being masked. This is deadly with the out of control spawn rates on high level planets. Level 80 voritor packswill EAT YOU ALIVE.

Rangers: /conceal is now a Rifleman special ability. You're screwed!
/bug it repeatedly until they give you a replacement method for using your Camo kits.

I had a couple of questions:

1. I get a little Icon that says I have some sort of issue with my weapon (it's near where my Health Bar is). It says it's due to my armor, but I'm a MBH wearing refitted composite armor (btw, when you refit the armor, it goes white and you can't change the color back to normal).

Hello! The little "gun" icon under your HAM bar is there when you are holding a weapon. It seems your movement is slightly penalized while wielding a weapon. It doesn't seem like muchof a penalty though, and it'semmersive. All you have to do is unequipt the weapon when you dont think you'll be using it. Even perhaps place the weapon on the toolbar for a "quick draw".

2. Was it intentional to leave out weapon certs locations (i.e. when examining my LLC it tells me that I get this weapon at Novice BH, when I look at my Novice BH skill, it does not list any weapon certs)? Such that, I have no idea what other weapons I'm certed for w/o looking at every available weapon type and seeing what level and/or skill is required to wield it.

That was intentional. I think that was to a) clean up the certs and skill boxes to be easier to read, and b) encourage the use of different weapons and not just stick with one "profession" weapon. I used to carry about an old T21 rifle, but now i keep a Advanced Laser rifle slung on my back for those long range emergencies.

Yes, for now, you'll have to examine a weapon to see if you can use it, but, this gives way to weaponsmith showrooms as well. They seem to be popping up all over the place. Hopefully, someone will put together a guide to weapons and who can use them with what pre-reqs and levels, if any.

Unlike most of you, I think the FAQ is lacking. This WOULD have been a reasonable FAQ had it been posted PRIOR to the CU going live. But everything in it that affected my character I figured out the first day through experimentation. What I find lacking here are the really BIG things that affect me, ARE NOT IN THIS FAQ!!!...Like my anti-decay kit NOT working on my Light Sabre. Way to go. Give me NEW certs to sucker me into making a new item (novice ls lets you craft all the light sabers now) and see how many of us will remove our ADK to put on the new one...just to find out it doesn't work. For those of us that have paid for our accounts long enough to get a veteran reward, you now choose to keep us from using it. What's the point. My two best friends have quit and moving to guild wars now. /sigh...i'm still in shock that major changes like this were not made known. If this is what i should expect, i imagine that i'll be with my two friends playing guild wars. PLEASE give me a reason NOT to leave. Show me why I should stay with SWG.

Man, calm thyself, young padawan.

The FAQ was written by a player, don't hold him accountable for bugs. Sheesh!

And yes, the faq was helpfull to many.

Thanks for the info. You wouldn't happen to know how armor works now do you? Sure kinetic is 4564, but what the heck does that mean.

And how do I see what a critter is vulnerable to? Want to know if I should switch between my power hammer with kinetic damage and my scythe.

As far as I know, creatures are still not showing resistance info yet. Not sure if they moved it into ranger or it's just bugged.

As far as armor goes the number represents a percentage not an amount. Not sure about the table but I know that the highest amount is 10k which figures out to 60%. Someone had hard numbers on this, but I'm not sure where the thread went.

Q. There is still a lot of bug, Jedi force run, LS action/mind cost, Clock /target, lost all the waypoint, too far to listen/watch, root bug, many others, Why SOE release this beta version with a lot of bug to the live server??

A. They don't care about customer, they must release CU before the next expansion even it have a LOT of bug.

Tip: This is not the first time, SOE always do that, release a beta bug version to live server, if you remember those patch before.

not the best place to post this...this a FAQ on the changes in the CU, not a place to list bugs.

Great FAQ, I've learnt a few new things...thanks

Gorthu, that's a good start, but here'ssomething youcan add.

Maximizing your General Melee Accuracy will increase your accuracy with your Lightsaber. The maximum amount of General Melee Accuracy and Ranged/Melee defense that I could findand fit into my current template was 0044 Swordsman and 0410 Pikeman in combination.

When I respec'd to this set of skills, suddenly I could kill level 61 mobs while I'm level 63. Before this, when I was Rifleman 4444, I couldn't kill level 60 mobs.

Jedi progress is still excruciatinglyslow, but at least when I run out of Force I can haul out my Vibrolance and quickly dispatch the mobs around me.

Tip:

Do not mix Ranged and Melee Elite/Hybrid professions in your skillset.

A basic assumption about the Combat Level is that you are able to use ALL your specials with whatever weapon you're carrying. A mixed Ranged/Melee template does not have the same *actual* combat effectiveness as a template that is focused on all ranged or all melee professions. A little mixing might be necessary, as in the case of Commando or Bounty Hunter, but keep all your Elite and Hybrid professionsin one area.

The end result is that a character with a mixed template might be CL 80, but will have the effectiveness of a character of much lower level... about CL 65. Taking on mobs above CL 65 will be difficult for a mixed template character.

I have couple of boxes in jedi, saber 0012 and defense novice and I put everything else to doctor after CU. (my combat lvl is 40)
I can kill a blue or white (not 2 at a time, itis out of question) creature and I can get 129 for blue and 369 for a white creature so average 250 per creature.
I spend like 5 min for killing a creature and regaining my force power since every attacks draw force power.
so 250 exp per 5 min makes 1000min or 17 hours for 50k exp which is the exp I lost after 1 death.
This is RIDICULUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my friend asked in guild chat before CU , in the line, jedican get visibility for grouping and now grouping is a must. I told him, see this isis an easy thing to think about they will figure it out.

But I dont think Irely ondevelopersafter seeing how alot of things are NOT thought about it.

This is a huge change in a MORPG in the history of all MORPG ( I ama veteran from the day 1 of MORPG with ultima online and eq after that) and it is success depends on dilligent workand not on marketing concerns. I am afraid this game could be in ruins if they cant fix things around lets say after the movie starwars 3, sinceI expect new people will join after the movie.

Jedi do not get visibility for just grouping. If we do, then it is broken. I group all the time, I just don't play with the group. It's solo play. The group gives an additional xp bonus.

Question I have is, what does it mean when you change the icon next to your name

Cycles through Melee, Advandced Tank, Utility, Ranged

Now I assume it has some sort of effect, but what exactly does it mean.

Is there point to us selecting it , or is it just for show for the likes of grouping so people can see who is doing what.

That states what your group role is.
