Thread: Friday Feature Screens of Player Cities
Q-
Back in the old FAQ, pre-launch, it talked about how vehicles were not meant to hang around forever, unstored, but that [the devs] would provide a means to store them. Are player garages going to be required to store vehicles? What about when you're off your homeworld? Will they be storable in inventory or datapad alternatively?
So many questions, so much time to ask them while grinding wilderness survival xp. ![]()
The City of Elysium (Starsider, Corellia, -1723 147 ) is excited.
The first thing we'llneed is a bank and a shuttleport- without these, we can'tbe a viable city by comparison with non-PACs. Can you give us a sense, Q-3PO, of how early on we can get those two structures?
I suppose if mounts and vehicles come at the same time as PACs, that'll lessen the dire need for a shuttleport, somewhat. Doens't help players new to the game, though.
Thanks!
hey Q, can any of you guys release anything about the vehicles, im really anxious as to hearing even a tiny bit about them, such as maybe a general time for release, i heard rumors that this month was the month for its release, but im assuming that will be accompanied by player cities as well. but then again if you released both, people will be all confused as to what to get first hehe, im all about the vehicles. i just was wondering if you guys could give a general time frame for the release of any of the newest stuff?
thanks,

I have a question Q.
How will the city size be controled? Will it have to do with the skill of the mayor or just the amount of buildings in the area?
If it's just the number of buildings then our PA city is going to be the highest rank as soon as it launches ![]()
Oh and for all you people that want to see a large city with the largest rebel base currently in the game, I suggest you create a char in Mos Eisley,Tat on Radiant and walk west. Believe me you can't miss it ![]()

Wow... Q, I like these things and these ideas, but do you realize how much nicer the concept art looks than the actual representations of the buildings (sans the parking)? The art gives a big distinction between the styles of the buildings, is much more complex, and seems to look like it'd be more functional. The screenshots... they all look about the same.
I realize there's only two others besides the parking, but regardless. The concept hospital looks great, and the screenshot is just another multi-door block!

Actually he wrote exactly...what I was about to post and again, I don't wish to be negative...But the difference between the hospital concept art and the model is so vast.... Why bother having an artist draw up a concept. When the building is going to end up looking like a featureless bunker. I am hoping greatly that the design process is still ongoing for these buildings..The garage is very nice though.
I am glad that the player cities are going to get a distinctive look at least. I just hope you are going to take the time to make these additions more attractive. I am looking forward to the addition of player cities.
One thing I notice from the City Management terminal is the concept of a city "Radius". I see that a city with 10 residents has a radius of 125 meters.
Our city (-1000, 500 on Talus, server Tarquinas) is built along a river, and is thus much longer than it is wide. We've got about 35 residents right now. I'm worried that some of them won't count as part of the city because we're essentially a long line of houses 1-3 rows deep. Folks generally like to live along the river, so we get longer faster than we get wider.
And please, let us build a bridge across the river! There are already bridges out there in the world, andwe would really love to have a bridge spanning the river so we don't have to swim across the river. If it was a building that takes up a lot or two, and a smallmaintenance cost, that would be just fine. Put the terminal on the outside of one of the bridgeends.
Thanks!
I agree, that med center needs to be redone to have more personality (like the concept art), and the theater could use more detailing.
>> Labour Day! <<
Umm... this is a national holiday in the US... it's Labor Day ![]()
Anyway, as a Master Architect, I'm just biding my time until Urban Planner is implemented ![]()
