Thread: Annotated SWG Links Library (new submissions welcomed!)
Here are a bunch of crafting-related links for you today. Some you'll most definitely
have heard of, others may be new to you.
Resources etc
These items relate to the reporting of resource spawns in SWG.- SWGCraft.com:
OK, this is already listed I know - it's the grandaddy of all SWG crafting sites, and it's without doubt the single most important fan site that exists for this game. I kid you not. If you've not visited this site and you have a character that does any crafting whatsoever, you're missing out big time. Go. Now. - Independent Survey Solutions
This is a neat site - like many others, it's based on the SWGCraft data set. The idea here, though, is that not only do you get the SWGCraft data, but you also get waypoints to particular concentrations - by paying registered surveyors in-game with credits. Of course, you might also be a surveyor who wants to get some creds yourself by selling resource locations. Merchant Tools
These tools are third-party programmes written by SWG players to help merchants out... typically, they process in-game emails that you've saved using the /mailsave command, and provide some metrics on your business transactions.- Merchant's Friend
I suspect that this is the best of the tools - but since I can't get it to run on my machine, I can't say for certain. It's almost certainly the most well-known tool in this category. Requires .NET (available from Windows Update) to run. - SWG Merchant Email Processor
This also requires .NET, and saves all the data to an XML
file designed for importing to your favourite database handler (in fact, an MS Access template is also provided). Note that your database has to be able to import XML files, or you need to be able to convert XML into a CSV format (a bit of help about this on the website). - SWGMail
This is an online tool rather than a downloaded programme that will do some basic processing of your mails - you create an account, zip all your .mail files and upload them to the server - no need for .NET here (as it seems many people aren't happy with installing .NET on their machines for some reason). Easy enough to get this working, but obviously being a web app it's slightly limited and you can't play with the data yourself (as it's not on your machine!). Crafters' Tools
Crafting is a tricky business, especially for professions like weaponsmithing or armoursmithing which require large numbers of very specific components and depend on high levels of experimentation to get decent products. Tools to help here include:- Fooman's SWGWS Tool v6.0
Hosted by SWGCraft.com, this tool for weaponsmiths is the classic crafter's tool. Uses SWGCraft.com resource data in combination with weaponsmith schematics and a database of your own resources to let you know what you should be harvesting and what resources you should be using in your crafting. For many WSs, this is the sine qua non of their businesses. Note that this 'app' is an Excel spreadsheet with loads of VBA macros in it - you'll need Excel and you'll need to allow macros to run. - Jenner & Fooman's Crafting Tool v1.6
This is the natural expansion to Fooman's tool - it currently supports Weaponsmith, Armoursmith, Architect, Doctor, Medic, Scout, Entertainer, Artisan and Droid Engineer (any others missing coming soon, I'm sure). Same functionality as Fooman's I believe, and also an Excel app. - SWG Manager
I don't know a lot about this one - can't get it to work at the office! This one's a Java app rather than a spreadsheet and is currently on version 0.6.0 (so still in testing).
Of course I think it's wise to re-iterate here that you must always be very careful about downloading anything from the internet. I'm not personally making any guarantees about any of the programmes listed here (I've not even tested them all myself, though I do run a few of them). Be sensible about it.
On a more general note, many thanks to all those who've made such nice comments on this thread - glad it seems to be helping people.
- Catalog of Fashions by TK
Includes a database of all tailor craftable clothes (Necklaces coming soon) that lets you narrow down the list by who can wear it and what enhancements can be used. That's not the best part though. When looking through the catalog, any item that can be colored lets you select the colors and preview what it would look like in those colors. No more trying to second guess what the colors will look like in game, or select a white hoping for white and find out it ends up coming out a little green.
And while I'm at it, since the catalog uses the domain...
- SWG Entertainer.com
A community resource for entertainers. The website is in the form of a wiki, meaning the whole community can get involved in adding and maintaining content if they so desire. Currently there is several guides, as well as lists of entertainers by galaxy. Also accessible through swgmusician.com and swgdancer.com. swgimagedesigner.com goes elsewhere unfortunately, but fortunately it's to the best image design website out there.
The Namasoon Zoo mentioned on the first page is on Kettemoor. It's in the same city my shop is in. The city has had locations featured in the galactic home show at least 3 times now. Once for the zoo, once for my shop, and I forget what the third was. There may be more.
Edit: Necklaces are now in the catalog!

- It only deals with in-game auctions/sales, and contains no real money transactions.
- Has a lot of very useful features, buy it now, proxy bidding, pictures, bulk listing, etc.
- It is free!
And is growing very rapidly, and it is looking to be a very promising alternative to the trade forums.
In my opinion it is a very handy tool for all of us traders and we should all start doing our auctions there instead!
(Please note that it is not my site, and I mean no offense by this post, I'm just trying to help inform the community!)
So help spread the word! ![]()
Here is what you can do there-

I am also open to other ideas as to what should be included or other functions/features that should be included!!
