I read the FAQ and couldnt find the answer to my question (i probably skimmed over it... but i'm sort of in a hurry to get an answer )

I was wondering how Politician XP works

i just started a new city - and i checked the ballot as people declared citizenship (i got 53 citizens within the first week, this is the first chance i've had to get politician xp since dropping the city hall a week ago) - and it told me that i had "53 votes" - and there was no one running aganist me

however, when the city gained rank 2 today, i wound up with only 750 politician xp

does this mean that you only get politician xp if people actually use the ballot box and vote for you? even though it told me that all 53 citizens had "voted" for me (most by default) AND that you only get 50 xp per vote?

thank you in advance for helping me out

You get 750 xp per week that you're mayor (you saw this after the first week). You also get 300 xp per vote, but the voting cycle lasts 3 weeks. So in another 2 weeks, you'll see the xp from the votes.

Normally, you'd only get votes from people actually going to the voting terminal to vote for you. However, when someone first sets residence in your town, they automatically vote for you. So since your town is new, and everyone is a new resident, you have a lot of automatic votes. After the first voting cycle, you'll need people to actually go and vote for you at the terminal.
