Thread: CORVETTE QUESTION
Fortunately, I think the one you are speaking of is only a single spawn in Kessel. Once he is destroyed he respawns a couple minutes later. He is the only one that turns (short radius) constantly, rolls to track targets and is a complete pain. The trick to killing him is... well, there isn't one. Its patience. Start shooting at 600m, fly to 500 at most, boost away. You should get several good shots in before his guns bear on you. Once his shields are beat up, start taking out components until he's dead in space and has no guns that can turn on you from whatever angle he is stuck at.
Unfortunately, short of using a B-Wing and 2 Space Bomb II launchers, I have not found a better strategy for him.
For the flipping/rolling gunboats, make sure you have a fast overloaded (3) engine and a booster if you can. Target weapon 2 (rear turret).
Approach it at full throttle while corkscrewing (full roll and a little yaw) and let rip. Once you get close to the gunboat or take a few hits, turn round and boost away.
Repeat until shields and armour are down. Once this is done approach from rear (or as best you can while it is flipping out) and destroy weapon 2. Then pop the engines at which point it will stop flipping and you can sit behind it and blow the poop out of it.
Only difficult bit is getting the shields down.

The gunboats in Kessel are easy. They fly straight and level. Just match speed at 550m and burn them down. Barring that (the Vette has quite the shooting range), use strafing runs to disable the Vette and let them fly by. Of course, this is the "cheap" way to deal with them, but you are in Kessel to get your Ace badge, not to make nice-nice with game design. Worry about strafe "honorable" killing gunboats another time.
I have to say, of all the BS crap people can do to screw over other people, leaving the 2 gunboats alive for the next vette hunter to kill takes the taco.
The next vette will not respawn untill the 2 gun boats are gone and they don't exit the zone on there own. They sit at the despawn point flipping around each other. After killing the now not as EZ to kill gun boats are dead, the vette hunter has a 2 HOUR WAIT, you bastages!!!! for the next vette to spawn.

you must damage a sub component on the 'vetteto get the Badge
Actually you need only be in Kessel as part of the group that gets credit for the kill of the corvette.
Actually you just need to be in Kessel with the mission when the 'vette is destroyed. My friend and her group were late to the party and when the group that got there first blew the thing up, she got her badge. She never fired a shot, was not in the group that did and she was over 6K away when it exploded. I kid you not. I was both incredulus and dumbfounded, but the master pilots who were with her swear that it happened jut that way. This happened just 4 hours ago.
Do not count on this method gettin you your badge. I have had the mission and been in Kessel when the vette went up and NOT gotten the mission succcessful. If you want to be assured of the badge, do some damage. If you can't do at least some damage sometime during the fight, you don't deserve the Ace.

Yes yes, no one said to leave the gunboats up. Don't quote me like I suggested it. If you let the gunboats fly by, clean them up after killing the Vette. I've cleared them several times now, even after getting Ace and just finding them up at the exit point when I had no use for the vette.

As long as you or someone with you kills the gunboats beforeyou leave this is fine. If not and they reach the despawn point they just sit there spinning and the next vette will not spawn until 2 hours after these gunboats are dead.
heh must have been typing at the same time you were

My trick that works everytime and the GB never even gets a shot at me...ever:
Come in from below and behind like a normal straffing run...but don't shoot yet. "Bellie" up to the bottom of the GB, match speed when you are in the middle of the GB. You should basically look like one of those little fish that swim under a shark and are usually touching the shark (I'm talking withing 5m of the GB). Target the engine, and begin firing at the nose of the GB. Just keep turning as the GB turns and rolls. Half the time you will be "inside" of the Gb while firing, but you will still damage it. Just make sure you don't ghost through the GB to the topside where the top guns will start blasting you. Just be sure and match speed as the engine is damaged so that the front gun won't start shooting you as you over shoot by now decreasing speed.
Works every time in my JSF, as the JSF can turn easily at low speeds. I need to try this in my Awing or Xwing to see if it will still work.

so what's the point in trying to use the Kash corvette?
Just a guess, but lack of gunboats? I know I'm having a little trouble getting used to the Imp ones now that I'm a Rebel (for a few more days, anyway).
