My Wishlist For The Space Expansion



  • A starship the size of a large generic house. This is what my character has in therp view. Just add a couple laser turrets, a rocket launcher, some other stuff...


  • I've heard that flight and combat will be arcade based. Keep this up,I dont want a "Here, let ME aim for you!" system in space, too.


  • WALKING AROUND IN MY STARSHIP. This is something I'd love more than anything in the expansion.


  • I want to be able to shuttle other players to their location. I'm never the one to grief them by keeping em on the ship for too long. Even if someone did, add escape pods to get out of there.


  • Communication. This will probably be done in the form of /tells, but we could try making an installed house furniture that gives the text said from the ship. That would be some good immersion.


  • Secondary weapons which can be manned by other players, or even flight droids with the correct modules. (Another chance for DEs!)


  • Let some smugglers and/or bounty hunters get some gear to read the conversations of other spacers in nearby ships. Who said space was private?


  • Boost speed, slow down, Etc.


  • I don't want to lose my ship, especially if people give out absurd prices. Reduce the ship to a chunk of repairable debris. Send out a salvage droid ship to pick up the mess and repair it after cloning.


  • Capital ships could be group combat vessels for guilds for fighting away from small fighters. Space stations can act as guild halls and cities, complete with star ports, cantinas, med centers etc. for the cities.


  • Expand the cities on the planets to include space ports for player ships. When I heard "Docking Bay 94" in ANH, it sounded like Mos Eisely had much more than one port...


  • How about atmospheric flight? Just dont let them attack people on the ground, and give it a certain amount ofleeway a mile or so above the planet...Could be used for shuttling between planets cities or non-space dogfights in fighters.


  • Ships like mine (not necessarily mine) could serve as smuggling storage without as much risk. Illegal gear out in the open can call for an attack, but chances are cut by 8/10 when stored in secret compartments such as in the Falcon.


  • If you go into a blockade, expect to be either boarded or attacked. If you are boarded, you can be scanned orfight the party.


  • Alright, here comes engine/gun/hyperdrive abilities. Every ship should have what is on their ship normally, but they can be updated with the right gear...


  • ENGINE: Durability will depend on the metal used. Fuel will be needed to keep it flying, andlargertankscan be used to add more at a time, but make it tougher to repair in a destruction incident.


  • GUNS: Lasers, torpedoes, missles, the good stuff. Plasma, projectiles, and Tibanna gas will be needed for these, and depending on the engine, the weapons can have modified speeds.


  • HYPERDRIVE: Modified speeds, of course. They can be hurt by the wrong hits to the ship. they will need fuel, like the engines, and so on.


  • SHIELDS AND ARMOR: to keep the parts in check during combat, you will want these. (insert what is used for energy shields here) and metal, of course.

I sure hope that something here is implimented...

Mulbik -...nice ideas and yes I hope we can see many of thethings you listed.


Xenon- I think space anolamies is a must. Well not a must but something I would especially like to see: Blackholes, Nubulas..I think asteroids is a no brainer. How about throwing this in (I did mention this previously) Ghost Ships occupied by who knows what: pirates, out of control droids, biomechanical horrows and other surprises.


Cloud City would be sweet.

Lets not forget Hoth or some kind of ice planet. I want to hear that winter wind and see snow come down hehe..


Lets also have facilities that you can land on in space and walk around in (yeah its been mentioned many times in this thread), including your own ship.


****Very important***For facilities you can walk around in I hope developers include view windows that you can look out of to see outerspace.******


Should the space stations rotate to create the feel outerspace?


Lets not forget mining devices surveyors can use to mine precious minerals and ore in outerspace. If you want to get real spacy how about requiring spacesuits if you have to survey the rock. With spacesuits you might as well include airlocks and the ability to flush enemies out of them. Maybe Im going to far with this and getting away from the SWG universe. Well I think it would add some realism. Spacesuits required to do something in oouterspace or else.


So many possiblities...lets hope we all dont served plain vanilla.

Xenon, when were "hyper-gates" ever seen in that movie? If you're refering to Obi Wan's ring thing that's just the hyperspace module for Jedi starfighters. Great ideas from both of the new posters!

Another thing- for Space Expansion at least for Outer Space(and this is just my opinion)..lets hope the interface controls are simple, straight forward and intuitive like the current set up is for our characters. Lets hope there are not 20-30 buttons you have to watch and click onto fly a ship. The point Im making is that outspace should be fun and not a serious space flight sim.


With the mouse wheel we should be able to scroll forward or back to expand or contract the ship view.


I hope theafterburners from our ships will not be constant long lines that look like yarn. Afterburner should be a nice effect that can be view when you hit the thrusters or are cruising. Man I hate those long lines coming from the back of ships to represent fuel expenditure.


Hope everyone concurs on straight forward no nonsense interface for outerspace. Of course everyone will not concur, but please post if you diasgree or agree.

Darn we need an edit button.. for the long lines of yarn I was referring to in my previuos post I was talking about the fuel or afterburn coming from ships. The long thin lines representing afterburn or fuel expenditureare seen in current games like Dark Space or Home World and some other games out there. I think its cheap looking imo.

Hey I was woderin if we were going to be able to have multiple characters in one ship so u can have for instance2 character on the guns,1 character as the pilot and so on so that it creates a more fun gameplay workin together, just 1 idea from me but i have many more like being able 2 attack the star destroyers with a whole fleet of rebel x-wings and y-wings that are all controlled by player characterers,

that'll be gr8 and sum1 plz tell me if that i actually possible or is actually gonna happen

There more than likely will be more than one player allowed on a ship. Depending on the ship. I cant 100% confirm this but I think I read somewhere that more than one occupany on a space vessel will be possible. GUess we will know around May for sure.
