I read your post several time just to make sure. Nowhere do you say you just tried playing the game.
He will show up when you are eligable. The only thing delaying him now is an effort to keep the number of people in the village at a reasonalbe level. Once the front-load of pepole are thinned out, there will no longer be the artificial delay.
Believe me, you would be more unhappy if everyone eligable right now were given access right now. The lag in the village would be rediculous. Give it time, play the game and if you insist on grinding, start on grinding those xp now so you will have some to begin converting when he finally does show up.

I just sat out the the wildnerness, about 400m from city limits, and waited. About 20 minutes later I heard the two sith die quickly. Almost missed it becuase they died so quickly. I was visited by the old man this morning.

I have played the game and done about all there is to do. Most of the time I just crafted some sbuff packs lately and the quest would give me some spark to do something else even if it is grinding. And the lag in the village wouldn't be that great since most ppl are just there converting their xp then heading off grinding some more. It's not all those guys hang out in the village for the sights.
EDIT: Oh jeah and I have maxed out all my skills months ago. I never bothered with holocrons and enjoyed the professions I liked most. BEgan with BH tried it for 4 months dropped it and since then I am Doc/tkm and I don't really want to drop that. I WANT those second slot though.

I was goin into my house, and dropped some items off, when I was leaving combat music started, it was sith's.

I got accosted by an old man at the Rebel Outpost on Rori.
Others I know have had the same happen.

The old man visited me on my player cities enterance. Waiting for the sith now. although the sith quest doesnt show up in my quest journal as an active quest like many other players have reported also.

The old man surprised teh crap out of me outside a player city on Corellia. The sith jumped me today about 10m away from the city hall in my home player city on Naboo, definitely within the city limits.

Just a Note worthy Hint or suggestion: as far as im aware, the Old Man and the Sith do not show up in NPC City's but will show up in Player City's, and any were ells so, jsut thought this would help people out, were to be more or less.
P.S. Im still waiting for the Sith myself, hope they come soon, got my Old Man today in the morning so well see.... so want to get into the Village hehe.

I'm glowing but I haven't got a visit from the old man yet, he'll come eventually. I just wonder where and when. Hehe, this is just like my childhood, waiting for Santa.

It won't show up. What good would an ambush be if you knew about it?
It should say "protect the crystal for the old man" or something to that effect.
But it doesnt 
, and a greyed out quest means its completed, and the "talk to the old man" one is still bright white.
whatever is happening its different from on test. if this is intentional then the devs should of said as its making people ask alot of pointless questions.
