Very nice post, very well said MasterzOfGamez.

Well over a year since I started, and I still have fun every day I play.

Its very refreshing to see a post like this. Throughout all the whining and complaining, I have remained constant in my love of this game. Even through the frequent frustration. I am a veteran of previous MMORPG's, and have several things I prefer about SWG.

1. Housing. The housing in UO was great, however, using the same housing idea, but in 3D is so much better. I can decorate all four walls, not just 2 like in UO. Then I can walk through mine (as well as others peoples) to admire, look for creative ideas, steal them (hehe), then have someone walk through MY house, admire it, and steal the ideas!. I think its a "circle of life" thing.

2. Open Professions. Ok, it sounds silly NOW, but when we all started, we were like " I can be a Pistoleer.....AND set up a vendor....AND make items to sell on that vendor?????". We were locked into set professions for so long, we just accepted it. "You are a WARRIOR. you cannotMAKE armor. you cannot SELL armor. you can only WEAR armor". sheesh, what were we thinking.

3. A player driven Economy. I know, many think this ISNT working, but I disagree. Where is the social factor in making 35 Steel Breastplates in UO, and selling them to an NPC. Vendor hunting in SWG can be frustrating, but mostly FUN. You get to see differant Cities, houses, styles, and meet new people. While hunting down that OC 980 Aluminum, how many times have you found something else on a vendor ( or more often on a wall )youve never seen before. Then rushed right to these boards to look it up, and find out where to get it. Then get your whole guild to start a huge hunt so everyone can have one.

4. Skill Tree based Special moves. I would get so bored fighting a monster by right clicking it and then just standing these, watching my character just hit or miss...hit or miss...hit or miss. Special moves put you BACK INTO the fight. With the right moves and the right strategy, you can take out a monster well above your "level".

5. The last one is silly, I know, but I love....really LOVE the animations attached to the emotes. Hug, Kiss, and Dance were funny, but the first time I typed /rofl, I nearly fell off my chair in RL. and lets not forget the new air guitar. People are rocking out throughout the galaxy.

There are MANY other reasons, but they are to numerous to list here in detail. Once again I would like to say thanks for this thread, and hope to see many more positive threads in the future. I stopped reading the boards for a long time because I get tired of reading "SOE sucks", "this game sucks", and "The Devs suck" in every other message. Thank you again.

hmmm...after E&B, Neocron and EVE one starts to settle down...

I like this game because I like fishing....

(that is, after grinding to master shipwright, killing TIEs, stocking my vendor, checking my harvesters, cleaning up my house...which reminds me, that I haven't been fishing since I dropped scout 7 months ago)

!! OMG!!! J00 NUBZ! SwG 1s s00 m3ss3d up! H0w t3h h3ll c4n j00 411 s4Y 1tz gr34t?!?!?!!!!11!!!

Haha I love this game to death. My first MMO, my last MMO(well not really). I will stay with SWG as long as there is still stuff to do, and the best part-there always is. I have a list of things I have not yet done which I am slowly trying to check off everyday. I have yet to visit fort tusken, become a crafter, see an ancient krayt, see a gorax, visit an ewok lake village, and master pilot to name maybe 2%. I am sick of griefers and haters. This game has and is going through many changes and some are better than others I must admit. But the beauty is...as players we must adapt to these changes; look at things from a different perspective even if you don't believe in it to see the true underlying good changes. I enjoy playing this game, I enjoy the friends I make and people I meet.
I am glad to see a positive post for it seems they have been becoming rarer. If you don't enjoy this game then you should leave, simple as that. Then the people who really do can have even more fun.

Being a part of star wars, making your own character and doing your own thing in it. Along with friends, it is fun. You dont just nessecarily go out and get exp, theres fun to be had and it just feels like theres immersion and an actual world even without swords n guns. Like crawling around the floor prone in an image designer tent chasing after someone while in your hawtpants (lol did this the other day).

It offers more than just quests and gaining exp, it goes where other mmo's havent, into the actual world.

I would have to say that I like SWG because of the enormous diversity of what you can do, as described before. Wanna become a Bounty Hunter who crafts his own droids? Go ahead and do it! Then when you get tired of that, become a commando and blow stuff up! Dont want any combat at all? Become an Entertainer! Or a medic! Join up with a guild, go on hunts, see the Sarlaac, Become a Jedi, build a Speeder, shout out "I pWn j00!" when you beat someone in a massive duel! (Ok, maybe scratch that last one ) Just being able to do whatever you want is great, not just kill stuff, take money, hope the NPC Weaponsmith still has a "Magical staff of bloddening" when you finally have enough cash to buy it. It's can give you a lot more interaction than many other MMORPG's I have played. And its Star Wars

I have been focused mainly on FPS games such as counter-strike or sports games. Never touched a MMORPG at all and never had the desire to even try one. One day I over heard a friend of mine talking about febuary of last year 2003. It actually made me interested and buy the game. I was a bit hesitant at first but truly became "addicted". I couldnt believe it, I was addicted to an MMORPG. There are just so many things to do within SWG and have actually met alot of people which is one of the main reasons it has me coming back still today.

Congrats SWG on such a successful game. I wish you many more years of success.

Happy Holidays!

* Friends - some people in my guild almost feel like family even if I never met them RL, it's easy to find interesting new people too
* Star Wars
* Skill System - innovative, flexible, you can tweak your character forever and you can be of use even when grouping with much better characters
* Crafting - simply dominates other games
* Trade - Trade is a community in itself with suppliers, subcontractors and customers, dominates other games too!
* Communication - chats, mail etc are excellent and very customisable
* Player Cities & housing
* Character Customization - I have easily had 50 different outfits!

I cannot believe that in two pages no one mentioned Gungans! Go out and kill 10 gungans each imediatly as penance for failing to embrace such an important aspect of the game. For good measure you may want to equip a weapon you are not proficient with and take on a Jawa, this is splendid entertainment very nearly worth the subscription cost on its own (obviously you swap in a decent weapon to end the fight).

I'm also surprised that no one mentioned race tracks, its a whole sub game waiting to be played out!

If you buy something its always cheaper at the next shop you visit, the shops you go to don't have quite what you want, when you find a good shop you stick to it. The economy is very much in the player's hands.

I realy like the graphics & sound and the Starwars feel to the game.
The whole space expansion is fantastic, I'm currently flying about in a turret ship with a pal (deeply ineficient but terific fun).
Houses and civic buildings / towns - terific, way ahead of any other game.
You can own a military base and command a trooper - I've got a list of all the men who died under my command.

Oh.. I totally forgot the Gungans and Jawas! Ever since Episode I, it's been my dream to blast Jar Jar, and now I get to do it daily! Five stars!
